I am so impressed with the staff and students. The main focus of the ILC is their intensive English program for immigrants in the community. Students of all backgrounds can join the program (I believe there is currently a waitlist) and be placed into the appropriate level. I help out with the lowest level, where students started from basically zero English. The main teacher is amazing and I am truly impressed with how much the class has learned, all while having fun and creating a close community. There's also a computer lab where students do English practice while also learning computer skills. The ILC also offers other services, like an in-house social worker, workshops to teach other skills, etc. So happy we have an organization like this in Malden!

Graduated from Launch; obtained job…read more I applied to Launch Academy since I was looking for a way to kick start my career after I lost my previous job and after weighing a few options ended up deciding on Launch and I think I can say it was honestly among the best decisions I've made in my life. The staff were extremely welcoming and supportive the whole way through and the students I worked with were also great. Even after graduating from Launch I felt I was connected to a great network that I can always reach out to for anything which I think some other bootcamps really don't give you access to. Now I won't shy away from it but this experience is NOT for everyone, you have to put a lot of money upfront for the course (like most bootcamps) and the curriculum is intense but I think the end result is truly worth it as you'll come out with understanding of technology that you did not have before and be ready at least put your foot in the door of the industry. If you're looking for a bootcamp that feels more welcoming but also will get you the tools you need for future programming jobs then I would recommend Launch.

Hi Folks, I…read moreoriginally posted a response to the guy complaining about the interview process as I enjoyed the initial interview but have to post a two-starer here as I found the staff very poor communicators about money. I had to ask several times about how to pay, put off work for several months in order to attend, and spent a lot of time fundraising because the staff were unclear about how their payments plans worked. Feel free to message me for more info but I've decided to use One Month Rails and the free tutorials out there until I finish graduate school because the experience with these guys left me unsure about whether or not I would even get a decent education with them. I think they're a little immature in general and irresponsible financially. A lot of these bootcamps have a "large group awareness training" vibe to them, the enthusiasm behind which I was perhaps blind enough to enjoy, until I realized that they are incapable of providing a product or service in a way that would be helpful to me. I also had to bring up a lawsuit to get the deposit back - and call and email several times. Not a fun process. They made the ludicrous assertion that they don't refund deposits because of "all the resources" that they provide before the course starts, or something to that effect, but I still don't have access to the resources they promised other than a Dropbox file with books I would find for free that arguably aren't even the best materials on the subjects they suggest students study before the course starts. They also said I was getting access to "people," but the co-founder was going to be unable to address my issue for at least three days and the other available people were the folks who didn't understand how to communicate effectively to begin with. I had to remind them that I am an adult with a career and a life and that their admissions process was hindering my ability to get on with either. Their response to me was that the "family" there probably wouldn't be a good fit and that they were "revoking their acceptance" - I had to point out that if that's how they treat their family, they certainly don't deserve to call themselves one. It's also a pretty bad sign when businesses that can't be up front about money start calling themselves a family to make up for their lack of professionalism and inability to provide the structure and resources they promise you. Creeptastic, and certainly kinda like getting mugged by a guy who smiles at you afterwards. Happy searching - best with making the most of your career. KP

After meeting with her, explaining how shy and anxious my kid is, she wrote him off within 5 mins for not being enthusiastic enough about going to a tutor and said Fusion could not help. (He succeeded no problem at another place last year, I just wanted a shorter drive and thought Fusion's website looked good). During the 2 tours she gave, she loudly proclaimed the silent area was no talking, completely disrupting the students that were there at the time. She demonstrated her agenda was more important than the students. She seems completely disingenuous about the school's stated goals and exceptionally rigid about how kids should be. I am really glad we will not be interacting with her regularly.

I love Fusion. I have a daughter that is academically advanced but socially challenged. (High…read morefunctioning autism/ 2E) She started kinder early at 4 and then skipped 5th grade. She simply loves learning and while in traditional private schools was bored and increasingly anxious about social interaction and group work. She's been at Fusion for two years. She works 1:1 with various teachers depending on the subject and while officially in 7th again this year (we decided to have her repeat as we are worried about her being closer in age to her peers when she graduates) she was able to take HS college prep biology last year, HS zoology and psychology this year in addition to her more typical classes (English, algebra 1, French 2, and medieval history) The teachers are wonderful with her. They have a collaborative style and really keep her focused, engaged, and enthusiastic. I receive academic summaries from each teacher everyday letting me know what they covered and how she did. Looking forward to her taking science in person at the Newton campus next year so she can do the labs in person rather than virtually.

This was our first time in the college process and she made the whole process less stressful. It was so helpful to have an expert guide us and be the one to help direct our son (vs us nagging him!). Our son got into his first choice college (early decision) and we are looking forward to working with Spark again for our second child. Besides having great consultants, Spark fully understands the college landscape and they give you that incredible inside knowledge to help craft your child's whole process. We looked at lots of college consultant companies and know Spark and especially Megan was the best choice for our son!

The practice tests were more helpful in preparing you for the test than the practice questions, as they were more anecdotal. I did pass the MA and Federal exam through PSI on the first try. Just wanted to note that PSI no longer issues licenses. It is now done through the Board of Registration. I learned this the hard way, as PSI took payment from me, when they were actually supposed to give the test results to the Board, upon which they ask you to pay, upload your own picture and print the license (laminated it too). This took about 3 weeks and many phone calls to straighten out. I still need to be reimbursed by PSI as essentially I have paid 2X for my license. Just thought I would share this for other MA residence who are taking the Real Estate Sales Person Exam.

Since Covid, the class isn't in person; it's prerecorded online. So you can't ask any questions or actively participate. Don't waste your money- I just signed up for a completely different class that runs on zoom so I can actually ask questions and get a response right then and there. Her advice was based on in-depth knowledge of my daughter's learning style and personality. The list of colleges she presented were mostly solid targets (rather than reach) and she prepared my daughter to be realistic and in the end, very happy with her acceptances.
