Jim H. @ Red Tail Inspection did a very thorough and detailed inspection of my current home before…read moreI purchased it. He is extremely knowledgeable about code, construction, permits and all things relating to homes + building structures. He provided my husband and I with an inspection report that was 78 pages long!!! He was honest, effective and did not leave one stone unturned. He also recommended a chimney specialist for our chimney that had a tree growing out of it (prior to purchase). Due to his detailed report, we were able to address many issues with the former owner prior to the final purchase of our current home. Jim is amazing. Kind, smart, funny and so honest. I can't think Jim enough for making us feel confident that the home we purchased was worth buying!

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about James Hartigan from Red-Tail Home Inspection…read more He was very easy to work with and thankfully was readily available which helped us meet our deadline. The great benefit to working with him aside from the inspection is that he has contracting knowledge and so he was able to give us feedback on contracting needs. He is also very thorough and so he takes his time inspecting the home and has the capability to explain things in a way that was very easy for us first time home buyers to understand. We asked if he could answer questions for us as he went along, which he thankfully accommodated. He demonstrates a strong sense of duty, transparency and respect for his craft. We would highly recommend him to anyone needing a home inspector.

    Accurate Inspections

Accurate Inspections and Michael have a reputation of a very thorough inspector, which sometimes…read morecauses controversy, so I hope I can clarify the situation a little. Michael provides a super thorough inspection and pays attention even to the smallest details. He points out loose stones in the stairs, narrow parking spots that claim to fit more cars than it is realistically possible, stair handles placed uncomfortably, among other things. He also points out important things that are done not up to code and can cause serious issues down the line. It is a responsibility of a buyer to evaluate the findings and apply them, whether in negotiations with the seller, or just for your own reference later to understand what requires fixing and how urgent it is. And knowing that in advance, I think I received a superior service, because thanks to Michael, not only I received a concession from a buyer to fix an improperly installed, though working, garage door, but also avoided troubles with insurance company later by requesting asbestos removal and obtaining corresponding certificate. Michael's commission may be a bit higher than the market, but it's well worth it.

This inspector is by far the worst person any buyer or seller would want to use. He ruined the deal…read morefor our buyer as the things he reported were so far stretched that our buyer backed out. I have been told this is very typical of this man as he then gets a second inspection and gets to make more money. He actually said our furnace was leaking toxic poisonous gas and if that was the case we would have died years ago. Our furnace was also tested by a professional with no issues. He then said our garage was going to cave in at any moment and again it was checked and this too was a lie. The best one yet was he said our entire house smelt like mold and was most likely full of mold. Pretty amazing that I was a health inspector for over 30 years and know a little more about mold than this moron and on top of that my home was completely renovated within the last 5 years and we never ever had mold. If you don't perform a test how can you even state such a thing! I could go on and on with the nonsense that this man comes up with to make himself look like god. Our buyer backed out after trying to get us to lower our price substantially for issues we knew were not legit. In the end we ended up with a better price and buyer so it was a win for us and a loss for the first buyer who lost out on great house and probably overpaid for a second inspection. This man should have his license removed and will be reported to the better business bureau. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your money on this guy. No house is perfect but there are plenty of other inspectors who are not alarmists and liars like this guy! What a joke!

He is not afraid to tell a realtor to quiet down or get out of the way, he will spend as much time as it takes to thoroughly inspect every inch of the property so you know exactly what you're walking into. He caught multiple serious issues the sellers either didn't know, didn't disclose, or didn't want to deal with - including a structural concern, improper French drain, water intrusion, mold, and a roof at the end of its life, as well as significant chimney issues. He even flagged a massive dead tree we hadn't noticed, which turned out to be hollow and dangerous -- something that would've cost us $10,000 to remove. That alone could have become a huge liability down the line. His narrative report was detailed, easy to follow, and full of photos so there's no confusion about what was found. He is exceptionally thorough, knowledgeable, and professional, and his attention to detail can save you tens of thousands in future problems.
