We stopped by Flying Fish for a quick lunch. The inside has a very fun retro vibe that I enjoyed. However, you must expect a no frills establishment if you come here. We got a bunch of food to go: - Fried Catfish: Pretty good, probably the best thing on the menu but it is just a fried fish - Catfish tacos: Do not get these, they are very dry and not flavorful at all - Catfish Bo Boy: We weren't a big fan of this either as it wasn't seasoned and had way too much mayo. - Banana Pudding: It had very fake flavoring and was a little too gelatinous. I adore the decor in here. It's covered wall to wall in singing Billy Bass, most of them decorated/themed. I had the 1 catfish filet basket, which came with hush puppies and fries. I thought the price was really good for seafood. The filet was crispy and I loved the texture. It was well seasoned and flaky. Fries weren't very crisp, but it'll do. I definitely recommend the catfish here. The atmosphere is super casual and there are paper towels and condiments at each table. You order up front and get a buzzer and pick up your own food. I ate at a Flying Fish in Little Rock 20 years ago and really enjoyed it. Well for the last 10 plus years, my wife and I have been eating at the one in Bentonville, AR. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here at all. The gentleman who is in charge is usually at the register. He wears a hat, jeans mustache just a regular guy. But he gets the best out of his employees and is always ready to make sure you get a great meal. My wife loves the Salmon Salad or the fish tacos. I used to be a fried shrimp guy but one day I decided to try the hamburger. I asked him to cook it on the flame grill and omg. I go to a fish place for my hamburgers now! You have to ask specifically for it to be cooked on the flame grill if you want it, I promise you will get a large hamburger with a special taste that fills two hands, Just like the old days, not a little burger that they say is big. Personally I like to get the fried okra as my side. I eat my burger plain just meat and bun, but it will come with mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato if you like. The Worst place I've eaten in NWA for sure. The catfish fillet was about 1/8" thick AND like 5" long. I would not even consider that a "fillet". Must have cut the fillets with a razor blade. I should have gone elsewhere after I called to see if I needed a reservation and the guy said "It's not busy right now" and hung up on me. I went there anyway and fully regret it.
