This is seriously the spot you go when you care more about what's on your plate than the fancy schmancy stuff.... rated based on food quality and value. AMBIANCE Simple and unpretentious with a lot of (you guessed it) fishing-related and coastal decor. There's a dining patio of sorts when you first enter with a fan and more lighting, but you can walk in further for more air-conditioned seating. We walked in one evening craving a no-frills solid seafood spot and we found it here. You walk in and there's a huge menu billboard and order at the counter, pay, and you get a buzzer and can find a table anywhere! SERVICE Efficient and straightforward...we ordered and within 10 minutes our buzzer rang and we picked up our food on a tray and brought it back. FOOD This is where it delivers! The seafood tastes fresh, seasoned well, and cooked without being overcomplicated. We ordered the grilled plate with rainbow trout that was served with beans, rice, and grilled zucchini and squash vegetables. Loved the grill marks and thought it was very simple, balanced, and cooked just right. We also tried the fried catfish fillet and shrimp with fries and hushpuppies, which came out hot and crispy without feeling greasy or overbreaded. Tasted great with the tartar sauce. We felt the portions were solid for the price and everything feels consistent. We'd heard great things about the key lime pie on here... and it absolutely lived up to it. The slice was generous for the price, and the flavor of the key lime pie filling delivered. It was bright, creamy, and just the right amount of tangy without being too much sweetness. And the crust? Exactly how it should be. You know the kind that crumbles apart...or turns into a rock-hard dense layer you fight through with your fork? Not this one! This one held together but still gave easily with each bite, so you actually get that perfect balance of filling and graham crust every time. I didn't expect to say this but goodness this is the $7.95 pie that gets it right....and if I could buy it as a birthday cake, I would! Definitely would come back to try any of the other seafood plates on the menu *and* more key lime pie! :) read more

Great seafood , love the catfish and shrimp. Usually get great fresh oysters but this last time they were bad and had to send them back. Need to train there people what a good fresh oyster looks like and what not to serve. But thats the only bad experience we've had here over last several years. The grilled fish tacos are fantastic also. read more

Visited for Mother's Day. Cute and casual spot in downtown Bentonville. Definitely a family spot. Food was excellent. The queso was great! I had fried oysters could've been crispier. And we got free dessert because it was Mother's Day. We will definitely go back read more

I've probably eaten here one hundred times. It's consistently a quality, tasty meal. If there is ever a problem, they are very quick and kind in fixing it. The price is about what I would expect from a casual dining spot. Margaritas are giant and delicious and the beer is always ice cold. It's the perfect spot to end a mountain bike ride or get together with friends. I've popped in to pick up something quick to go and I've sat there for hours visiting with friends -- no one has ever made me feel anything but very welcome. Do yourself a favor and stop by the Bentonville favorite! Favorite dishes: the Caddo, frog legs, and the blackened fish tacos. read more

Definitely a downtown BV staple! My coworkers came here for dinner after work and it was a smooth experience. Plenty of options for a variety of fried fish and more. Service was quick. The decor is gimicky. It was such a fun hang! read more

The food was so good we went twice on a short vacation! Our server was really nice and found my dad's lost phone. I have alpha gal syndrome and a gluten sensitivity. They assured me my order met all of my restrictions-stick with grilled and boiled foods if you have allergies. Oil is used instead of butter. I had a shrimp boil and salmon tacos + fries. Love the decorations too! Super festive and fun. read more

Staff was extremely kind, and the food was delicious. Interesting little place. Would recommend to others.

I wish I had known about thos place sooner. It's large, bright, airy and homey, and has hilarious decor. The menu has something for everyone, the service is polite and friendly, and the food is excellent. I was impressed with everything I saw. I ate a catfish poorboy on garlic bread, and the Mrs. Ordered shrimp. Sides were fries and hung puppies. We were thoroughly with the quality and flavor of the food. This place is a winner. read more

This place used to be so good, but the batter they used, as you'll hear from other reviews, isn't really stuck onto the fish as much as sitting around, and it tends to be mostly cornmeal. read more

Arkansas lucked out when fellow Dallasite Shannon Wynne decided to open one of his flying Fish restaurants in Bentonville! Trust me,it's a gift from above. I've been eating at the Texas locations for years without a slip up. This location mirrors the others with kitchy fish camp vibe and excellent seafood priced right. A Huge,Definite... Go! read more

We stopped by Flying Fish for a quick lunch. The inside has a very fun retro vibe that I enjoyed. However, you must expect a no frills establishment if you come here. We got a bunch of food to go: - Fried Catfish: Pretty good, probably the best thing on the menu but it is just a fried fish - Catfish tacos: Do not get these, they are very dry and not flavorful at all - Catfish Bo Boy: We weren't a big fan of this either as it wasn't seasoned and had way too much mayo. - Banana Pudding: It had very fake flavoring and was a little too gelatinous. The service was good and the food came out pretty fast. I think its a good spot for a cheap lunch of good quality fish but I personally like my food with a lot more seasoning. read more

Your gluten-friendly menu is total BS you need to read what gluten is and where it comes from. We have Been eating there every time we visit Bentonville, at least two or three times a month for the last 10 years when we're here, cannot do that anymore. The food that you're serving as gluten friendly will make my wife sick. I don't wish you any ill will just get rid of your glute friendly menu read more

I adore the decor in here. It's covered wall to wall in singing Billy Bass, most of them decorated/themed. I had the 1 catfish filet basket, which came with hush puppies and fries. I thought the price was really good for seafood. The filet was crispy and I loved the texture. It was well seasoned and flaky. Fries weren't very crisp, but it'll do. I definitely recommend the catfish here. The atmosphere is super casual and there are paper towels and condiments at each table. You order up front and get a buzzer and pick up your own food. I had a great experience here, and would give it a 4.5/5, the only thing is that I thought the bathroom was dirty and there was some type of bug on the floor. read more

Just a dumpy interior , fried fish had no taste. Long John silvers would have been better .

Great fish shack right off the downtown square in Bentonville. Fresh fish and seafood (mud bugs when in season) and great sides. Grilled snapper or Mahi is always on point as well as all your fried favorites. Looks like a beach town fish shack with pictures of Trophey fish all over the walls. The shrimp tacos are awesome! Lobster roll is good as well as the red beans and rice. I ordered corn on the cob and it was super spicy, but the food is good for the price. We recommend. read more

this was absolutely disgusting. I'm appalled that anyone could even stomach this subpar slop. where do I even start?? the calamari was rubbery, cold, and left a bad old oil taste in my mouth. the catfish was soggy, oily, and just overall unpleasant to eat. I had to drown everything in sauce to even stomach an ounce of what they call "food". the worst part of it all had to be the brownie. Im unsure how they make it but it tasted like cardboard and dirty container, almost freezer burnt like. absolute horse shit. read more

Had the Crab and shrimp. Was told it was spicy. Not so much but a perfect spice. Best hush puppy. Crispy on the outside but not dry

I ate at a Flying Fish in Little Rock 20 years ago and really enjoyed it. Well for the last 10 plus years, my wife and I have been eating at the one in Bentonville, AR. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here at all. The gentleman who is in charge is usually at the register. He wears a hat, jeans mustache just a regular guy. But he gets the best out of his employees and is always ready to make sure you get a great meal. My wife loves the Salmon Salad or the fish tacos. I used to be a fried shrimp guy but one day I decided to try the hamburger. I asked him to cook it on the flame grill and omg. I go to a fish place for my hamburgers now! You have to ask specifically for it to be cooked on the flame grill if you want it, I promise you will get a large hamburger with a special taste that fills two hands, Just like the old days, not a little burger that they say is big. Personally I like to get the fried okra as my side. I eat my burger plain just meat and bun, but it will come with mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato if you like. My wife says leave it to me to find the best burger around is at a seafood restaurant! Hey, good food is found anywhere. I guarantee you will like whatever you get here. Enjoy!!! read more

What a fun place. There's tons of decor around the entire place. Very "fish shake" type of vibes here. You go and order at the back and go and have a seat. I ordered the grilled tilapia salad, which really hit the spot. My partner had the fried catfish po boy, red beans and rice and seafood gumbo. He is from Louisiana, so he really appreciated the taste of home and felt that they made everything perfectly. read more

Small city seafood joint. Just like you see in the movies. Service was really friendly and the decor is nice. During lunch time almost every table was filled. They sell alcohol here but the place is fairly expensive so I didn't want to pad the bill with drinks. I think it's about $20 per person average, give or take. I had frog legs and liked them. read more

Extremely hot limited fans that actually work, service was not good as food took extremely long for example an ice cream scoop took almost 20 mins to come towards the end. The bill at the end was being split and there was too many problems which shouldn't have happened. for what we payed for I don't think it was worth it. food wasn't all that either, the salmon was basically tasteless on top of mash potatoes, lambchops were super tiny, the veggie pasta was super super salty; over all the food was mediocre for what we payed for. the only thing that was nice was the view on the beach. good concept bad delivery. read more

I was so impress by the food here, it was absolutely amazing. The staff was great since we are from San Diego CA he recommended some of peoples favorites. so good! The catfish was moist/ buttery and it tasted really fresh. But my favorite was the grilled catfish with extra Cajun seasoning. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned + plus the plate had veggies, rice, beans which made it a well balanced meal! Shrimp had a somewhat weird taste.... maybe because it wasn't the freshest... I ate it all but I don't think I will get the fried shrimps again. Fried Catfish (4.3/5) Fried Shrimp (3/5) Grilled Catfish (4.7/5) Would come here again for the grilled catfish lol read more

Everything was good, but the slaw. The slaw needs some work. Otherwise, very tasty. I'll go back.
