The steak had more bite like a grass fed cow would, and the deep beefy notes confirmed this. Lightly herbed and charred with olive oil. This behemoth was almost double the size of most other steaks I see around Europe. It was served with steamed vegetables heavy on seasalt and roasted peeled potatoes. The house red had a structured fruity nose and gentle tannins--just enough to compliment the steak. The waitstaff were efficient and came by to chat occasionally. The price reflects how nothing seems cheap in Europe, but amazing value may be had.

I ended up in Darmstadt, a little tiny town outside of Frankfurt, I would say almost by accident. This ended up to be one of the best experiences in Italian dining that I ever had in my life. Truly epic. Not one false note during the entire dinner, everything from appetizers to pasta to veal to wine was absolute perfection.
