Love this studio! My friend and I took a class just to see what this aerial thing was about, but it quickly turned into my favorite activity and one of the best things I do for my physical and mental health each week. There is a strong sense of community community at Fly Freak - students and staff both are so accepting and encouraging. I love how everybody cheers when someone does a trick for the first time! I love chair dance (shout out to Kit!), aerial yoga (all the teachers for this are phenomenal) and Sling (my go to teachers are Clara, Christy and Hayley, but I've never had a instructor I didn't like!). I also love the workshops and special events - self defense classes, guardian and kiddo classes, sound baths and my personal favorite, photo shoots! The staff is fantastic, the classes are wonderful, and the people are so friendly. My tween took the beginner sling class, and even though she usually prefers to relax, this is one activity she keeps coming back to. The instructors she had were really encouraging, which made a big difference for my soft-spoken kiddo. I noticed that on days she went to class, she slept better and her overall mood improved. Since a lot of sports and physical activities for kids tend to be competitive, which isn't really her thing, Fly Freak has been a great alternative. If you're looking for a way for your child to move around that also helps with regulation, I definitely recommend giving Fly Freak a try! read more

This studio is one of a kind! I have gone for aerial and land yoga along with doing some zoom classes. Hayley, the owner, is so friendly and kind and you can ask her anything. I love being able to do beginner classes and that the differentiate levels so you can start at square one and decide to keep getting more advanced: they really meet you where you're at which is amazing. I also have been to some of the Fly Freak shows at Can Can Wonderland and they are visually stunning and they always have local bands and side shows too. The cool part is that the performers are students from the studio along with some instructors and the owner herself. I've also discovered some amazing bands and entertainers from the area through going to Fly Freak showcases! I always feel safe both mentally and physically in this space. It is a place that is welcoming to ALL. I recommend taking a class and going to some of their shows! read more

New students please advise: 1.Make sure you arrive SUPER early since there is not dedicated parking and it's busy on the weekend. 2. They lock the doors after a class starts and you won't be allowed in. 3. If it's your first time with Fly Freak only book classes that say Beginner or ALL because it's against policy to take anything else even if you have years of experience and the website let's you book it. I'm sure it's a great studio. But unfortunately I wouldn't know because I was locked out and spoken to very harshly on the phone. Will not be going here again best of luck to anyone else though. read more

I was coming through town and I'd heard about how AMAZING this studio is, so I knew I would have to come take a class. Well, I ended up taking two and then looping BACK around to Minneapolis on my cross-country road trip to take another one. I tried both land and aerial yoga taught by Hayley. She is a wonderful and patient teacher with a lot of knowledge and passion for the practice. I highly recommend Fly Freak for yogis of all levels! I love this studio and Hayley so much. It's a wonderful place to try something new or develop your skills. They often have extra workshops for aerial chains and dance performance sessions. Not many people motivate me the way Hayley does in a fitness class which is why I've stuck with her for so long. I feel blessed to be a part of this community and have fly freak as my main studio. The space is immaculately clean and new with everything you'd need easily accessible. There are all levels of classes too, so anyone can try it out. There are also always new AMAZING class package and limited membership deals. This is, hands down, the best place in the twin cities to practice yoga and aerial. Hayley is an incredibly caring, fun and most importantly, patient coach and teacher. Cade is challenging but 100% his classes are worth it. He knows what he is doing, he's incredibly talented and more than willing to teach. Josephine is another teacher I would highly recommend. Fly Freak Yoga is such an amazing studio! The space is beautiful and has an open, bright and airy feel. The space has two rooms: one for aerial the other for bar/land classes. I took an aerial fitness class with Hayley and she kicked my butt! At the beginning of class she asks what you'd like to focus on - customizing each class. Ive taken other aerial fitness classes at other gyms and Ive always felt like hers are the most challenging - but rewarding! I can't recommend this studio enough! read more

I've been taking classes- barre and yoga- for several months now at Fly Freak, and love it! Developing a fitness routine has helped me cope with and manage my chronic power back pain, in part via the core strengthening powers of barre and also via the stretching and fascial 'workout' I get in yinstorative yoga. I've taken classes from Hayley and Skye, adore them both and appreciate their unique teaching styles. I can modify any movement which is hugely important to me given my health & back issues. To boot, the light-filled barre studio is inviting, the music in class is rad, and the overall positive vibes are great. I have been practicing at Fly Freak since it opened. All of the instructors are helpful, supportive and extremely knowledgeable. I enjoy the Handstand class from Lynn, Yin with Erin, Dance, with Cade, Flow with Josie, Core with Hayley, Flexibility with Clara and also with Dani. You cannot go wrong. You do not have to attend a particular class regularly to enjoy the benefits. Sign up for whatever works for your schedule that week and join from your living room, or hit an aerial class if you can.
