I usually browse around different supermarkets when I go grocery shopping in Flushing. This place…read morewas recommended by my Aunt. She told me that Farmer's Market has frequent sales in the meat department and advised that I check here first when I want to cook some fresh meat for the night. So I have been doing as told and have been saving up a lot!! Hey, every penny counts especially when you are living away from your family. I feel like a housewife already lol Cons: Always crowded. Cramped place. Wet floors. Hard to communicate with Mandarin-speaking staff.

Farmers Market is one of several Asian sidewalk markets where you can peruse the fresh fruit and…read moreveggies and pick you own from within the display. Only inconvenience is that after bagging your trophies, you have to go inside the store to pay, where there is usually a long line waiting. This takes much of the luster off the success of the score. Prices change towards the end of the day, so if you arrive later in the afternoon you may find an unusually good price on the remaining products. Your choices are reduced and have been picked over, but it is still possible to get what you need at a better price. The aisles inside the Market carry the same things as all the other stores in the area, but in less variety than J Mart of the other larger format megastores. English is definitely a second language around here, and if you can't discuss the quality of the melons in Mandarin or Cantonese you are at a disadvantage.

Recently moved near the area and can confidently say that this is one of the best grocery stores…read more Items, especially the produce and meats, are super fresh -- and the bread! Decent options and they give us the most recently sliced bread they have. It sometimes gets more busy during the day than I expect, but I've determined it's usually retired/older individuals or people WFH. Only reason I gave four stars: it's a bit pricy for certain items (e.g. small spinach bundles for $5 each). I could get 2-3x bigger organic bundles at Whole Foods for half the price.

North Shore Farms is the perfect supermarket. Especially their meat department which is oftentimes…read morewell-stocked with prime rated meats. They have an exceptional sprawling seafood section offering a wide range of wild-caught domestic and imported seafood. Did I mention their curated but plentiful selection of cheeses? Entering the store makes me feel as though I'm in a farmer's market. A wide variety of greens, fruits and veggies engulfs shoppers. About a third of their produce department is dedicated to organics. I typically visit the Beachurst/Whitestone store when I'm in town. Plenty of parking in the plaza along with several other stores that I patronize. May I suggest that this supermarket is worth the trip, even if you're coming from further away.

Pros: Carries a great variety of imported food from the Mediterranean (i.e. Greek honey and spices,…read moreItalian beans/flour, Turkish pistachio spread). I would come here specifically for those type of items - that's the highlight of this grocery store. Cons: Those 6 parking spots in the front are coveted AF (to quote Dylan from the TV show Severance). I've almost seen a few fights breaks out over those spots, and in my opinion it's not worth it because people don't know how to reverse out of the spot and will end up scraping the side of your car. No trip to Raspberry Farm is complete without honking at someone or getting honked at - it's part of the experience. Also, as other reviewers have said, many of the items on the shelves are expired. Be sure to always check the expiration date of anything you buy.

If you accept going to this international supermarket as a visit to a third world country (in…read moreWhitestone) you can enjoy excellent prices on imported goods and everyday grocery items. Strong representation from Greece in the form of cheeses, oils, grains, olives, and specialty items. Turkish, Moroccan and Spanish/Latin American groceries show up when available. High-quality imported Italian pasta, tomatoes, snacks, crackers, sweets. Entire wall of nuts and dried fruits, good section of hard to find flours like chickpea and potato. Now and then a random item shows up on sale, offering a chance to sample a new olive oil or balsamic vinegar. Very good job bringing seasonal imports in around the holidays - pandoro, panettone, torrone. Caveats are: freshness of produce is hit or miss, and ALWAYS check the expiration dates as sometimes older stuff stays in stock.
