Not knowing much about this store, I proceeded to ask for help. The lady told me the high chairs were on the 3 level, so off we went , up the stairs. When I got there, she showed me some beautiful chairs. I asked her to give me a ball park on the price and the cheapest high chair was $500! Oh my goodnes! Walmart had them for $50.00!! I literally turned around and walked out. On my way out, I noticed a few strollers for $1000. It was at that point when I started to RUN! WOW!

The first thing that struck me was the lovely smell when I stepped into the warm store - it smelled like lavender and that delightful fresh baby scent that all newborns seem to have. I was greeted promptly and took my time perusing the selections. They have a huge array of soft reusable diapers as well as lots of books, both educational for parents-to-be and playful stories for young kiddies. They have lots of wares to make new parents comfortable, like baby slings and cozy blankets. This is a great place to go if you're expecting or you know someone with a bun in the oven. You'll find an educated staff able to support you and offer you assistance with great products designed to help out with the rough and tumble, exciting journey of parenthood.

The staff could not possibly be any more helpful, but to go even further, they host regular workshops on cloth diapering, baby wearing, pregnancy and delivery, breastfeeding, potty training and more. The store is gorgeous within, from the barn-board floor to the blackboard wall, to the rainbow of cloth diapers on display. The front windows are always a wonderland. Yeah, it's that higher end chain but this store bears little resemblance in terms of organization and display to other Gymborees I've visited. Even my seven year old daughter commented on the disarray saying it was like a garbage dump but with clothes not garbage. And this was on a quiet Monday afternoon. I can't day that I find the staff that friendly, but there is the odd decent sale and that kind of makes up for the lack of service. And one other thing. There are no dressing rooms. Sure, babies don't need to try on clothes but sometimes, it's helpful to have a place where say, a six or seven year old could try something on so you don't have to buy it and return it.

Someone from the Dartmouth location had the Halifax store hold an item for me. I brought my daughter to try it on, as she's very tall and thin and most companies don't make clothing that fits her. I asked where the fitting room was . . . and was told there wasn't one. My shy 10 year old had to try pants on behind a rack right in the store. Unbelievable and unacceptable. The staff were embarrassed that their location didn't have an appropriate changing area. I'm not sure if the company is to blame for this oversight, or the mall itself is responsible. All I know is I'll never, ever shop at the Halifax location again. If the Dartmouth store doesn't have the right size in the item I want, we'll simply look for something else.

I'm always impressed by how knowledgeable they are about their products and options that might work well for your family. The prices can be a little higher in some instances, but I expect that with local businesses that provide unique and higher quality items. There's a little area for parents and kids to play or relax, and they've got a Kurig! I haven't personally been to the information sessions they regularly host but have heard great things from other parents.

I can really take my time here to browse and investigate my options without feeling like I'm going to lose my mind (I like kids - really I do, but 17 million of them screaming and running circles around me in Toys 'R Us is more than I can bear some days). - The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable, but will also blend into the background if you just want to browse around on your own. - The selection of second-hand clothing is in immaculate condition. I've never purchased second-hand clothes as a gift, but if I had a kid, I would so buy their clothes here. - They will "gift wrap" for you by putting your item in a Fiddleheads brown paper gift bag filled with pretty yellow-green tissue paper and tied with a green ribbon. Maybe not the traditional style of wrapping children's gifts, but the parents will appreciate a little understated beauty. And they have amazing handcrafted cards for sale at the cash register in case you're stuck at the last minute and forgot one. Or you just really appreciate a gorgeous card. One caveat - the prices are a little steeper than I'd like. I get that they will obviously have higher prices than a big box store, but the prices are just a smidge beyond what I want to pay sometimes. Not completely outrageous though. I've never been in the new TRU location, as it was built just after I left Dartmouth Crossing. The layout is really nice, bright and clear, with an connecting entrance to Baby's R Us, which is next door, and which I will never enter, unless someone drags me with quite a bit of force. Or bribery. The overall layout is super different than the old spot in MicMac, and it's also not nearly as big. It has a bit of a squished in feeling, to be honest. We were both looking for specific things, and we found them both. They have an excellent assortment of science toys, action figures, plushies, everything kids could want; Heck, they have everything I want and I'm twenty-eight! It was an ok visit. I'll be back again, I'm sure.

Went in looking for a barbie and horse for my daughter for Christmas. I get to cash the Barbie and Horse ring up as 69.99! I said no thank you I am not paying that. She pulled up the flyer and there was a Barbie and Horse on sale for 44.97 and it had a white horse instead of the traditional brown color. So I went on my why without it. I wanted to go look at this display and see how deceiving it was. After looking at it, I felt I should go to customer service and let them know of the error. To my surprise the awesome sales rep said I could have the Barbie and Horse for the price listed for sale, and it was their error and they will Price Guarantee the item! Thanks Toys R us!!!!
