I was a walk-in customer on a Monday morning (10:00AM) and saw a friendly front desk employee and a couple barbers at work. I asked if there was availability for a beard trimming and got checked in as next in line. Take note you'll need to schedule ahead of time for a straight razor appointment. My barber was Ashley - she was friendly and you could tell she paid attention to detail. I had a lot of questions on how to maintain my beard being new to facial hair care. I scheduled an appointment for a specific stylist and everything was confirmed. I even received a confirmation text at 9:10 AM the same day for my 11:00 AM appointment. I came in 7 minutes before my appointment only to have the ladies at the front desk tell me that my stylist was not there and that they "called" and left a message that the appointment was cancelled. The "message" was a 2 second voicemail at 8:53 AM that was nothing but silence only to get a text message sent 17 minutes later saying the appointment was still confirmed. I understand that things come up and stylists have to cancel but the communication is awful. What a waste of time and a frustrating experience. read more

I was immediately greeted and checked in, in an efficient, quick, and welcoming way. Throughout the haircut with Dustin, I felt like I was just talking with a friend, not someone I just met. I told him that I didn't want to go all the way to my skin on the cut, but did want it short. We started at a "5" and worked our way down to a "2" which is what he originally recommended (I probably should listen haha). They made me feel welcomed, loved, appreciated, needed, and most importantly, they made me want to come back. read more

Chose a time slot for my appointment. Arrived, sat in the chair and told the lady I wanted a razor fade. She said "I can't do that, I'm not a barber. If you want to wait 20 minutes I can have a barber cut your hair with a razor". I waited an hour and no one ever cut my hair. A barbershop that doesn't have barbers working in it? Felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode. No one ever updated me on my new appointment time. Waste of time. Blows my mind businesses can be run this horribly and still exist. read more

Rating only three stars because the customer service needs improvement. For some background: I don't know if different barbershops have different standards for what constitutes a "3," but I've always gotten a "3" at Great Clips and been pleased. At Floyd's the hairdresser tried to steer me away from a "3," for which I was grateful because their "3" would have been far too short. The problem was that once I decided not to do a "3," the hairdresser then expected me to know -- on the spot -- exactly how I'd like my hair cut instead. Given that my original choice (and the haircut I've always defaulted to) was not going to work, this was not a question I could easily, let alone quickly, answer. So I asked her to help me decide on a cut, a seeming-natural request that served only to perplex and annoy her. She made little effort to conceal her frustration with me, throwing out passive-aggressive phrases like "that's why I keep asking which haircut you want," and it took a lot of coaxing to get her simply to suggest a higher razor number. I don't expect royal treatment from anyone, but when I'm paying more than double Great Clips prices for a shave and haircut I do expect cordiality and patience at a minimum. On the other hand, I was very pleased with the haircut itself, which turned out to be one of the sharpest and most professional I've ever had done. And the warm towel treatment is a very nice touch that makes a usually tedious experience feel like an hour at the spa. Overall, I have mixed feelings on whether I'd go back: I don't want to pay good money in support of surly service, but on the other hand the product can't be beat. Perhaps Floyd's is a good choice for those who view their hair as an art form, but those who just want maintenance cuts might be better off at a national chain.
