This is a fairly new dog park that opened just of La Cholla at a small park. We really enjoy this park with our dogs. Unlike most parks in the area it actually has well kept grass and they recently planted a number of trees which should provide wonderful shade by next year. The park is well maintained and since few people seem to have found it, relatively quiet and peaceful. Our dogs love going there to romp in the grass. What's even better is that our white Cockapoo stays white! So many of the dog parks in the area are just dusty fields with no grass or if they have grass they are infested with all sorts of weeds that cling to the dog's coat. This place is immaculate! Certainly worth a trip!

Closed? Nonexistent? Converted into a bmx park? Was wondering why there weren't any recent reviews or photos. Came in July 2017 hoping for a close by good dog park but I couldn't find it..

Grass trying really hard to grow. The people that come here are what make the difference, and the same people tend to come at the same times. Some chat and ignore their dogs while they poop, dig, and even fight. Others are great, attentive to their pet's needs, and actively playing with them. Many work on improving the park themselves, picking up rocks, filling in holes, and providing bags, paper towels, balls, scoopers. It's all about your timing.

Most are pretty good but they run the gamut from too small like the one closest to our home to too large like at Reid Park. Some have unfriendly people and some have people that use the park in lieu of a single's bar. (Seriously!) Others hardly ever have dogs other than very large breeds. Northwest is near enough to our home to be able to be a daily trip for our girl. The people are friendly and the dogs are well behaved. Our dog loves to romp with the usual crowd who show up in the late afternoon just before sunset. By the way, the dog park here is a FABULOUS place to take in gorgeous sunsets over the mountains. There is a large dog and small dog area and people at this park seem to actually pay attention to those designations unlike the Pit Bull owners at Reid Park. Likewise, the breeds that are present are well behaved and not aggressive. There is the occasional steroid pumped guy with a Pit but it's not an everyday occurrence and they usually don't stay but for a minute or two. Northwest has, by far, the friendliest, most fun, and least pretentious crowd of owners and dogs I've seen in Tucson. A great way to spend the close of the day! Addendum: Ever since we've been going to dog parks in Tucson, I've wondered why they all have picnic tables and in addition really slick rock tables. I never thought people actually ate meals in a dog park until I saw people at this park with food recently. Obviously, it was an issue as all the dogs wanted to check out the food. But the real problem came a few days later when we took our dog to the park. She smelled the food that had been spilled on the table and jumped right up (something she never does at home). Before we could reach her she'd lost her footing on the slick rock surface and skidded off onto the ground. She tore her Cranial Cruciate Ligament and we're left with a hurting dog and a $2000+ vet bill for surgery. Then I found out that my pharmacist's dog had an identical injury from this same slick rock picnic table at the dog park. So, I've lowered my rating of the park (and all others) until the parks department takes appropriate action and removes these high slick tables from the parks (particularly the small do areas) and stops people from bringing human food into the dog park for a picnic. If you are going, station yourself near the table so you can grab your dog if they decide to jump up to investigate the food smells!

Gone are the days of one single grill at a Ramada that was packed on a Saturday. This park has 4 ramadas and each one has electricity, a trash can and a stand up grill next to it. Ramada 1 has what looks like 8-12 picnic tables and it's super big for one of those big family get together. And it's covered. So your not baking in that Arizona sun. Ramada 2 is a little smaller with 2 picnic tables, a grill, a trash can and electricity. Ramada 3 is the smallest of them all with 1 picnic table, one grill, one trash can and electricity. Ramada 4 has 2 picnic tables, one trash can, one grill and electricity. All the Ramadas are close to the restroom which is a stand alone building. It's super clean on the inside and stocked full of TP. When I was younger you'd have to ask the guy in the stall next to you " hey brother can you spare a square?!" Not here very clean and very nice restrooms. Just outside of the restrooms is a two tier drinking fountain. Top level for the adults and lower level for the kids. The water taste great and it was cool to drink. Most definitely nice when it was 100+ outside today. The park features a basketball court equipped with two baskets, a seating area that's under shade and also has a lights for those night time games. That's gonna be the way to go especially since it gets so hot during the days here. The whole court is enclosed with a gate so if you make an entertaining looking brick shot your not running down the street trying to catch up to it. This park also features a dog park area which has seating with Ramada a nice two level drinking fountain. Upper level for the humans and the lower level for your fur babies. Lots of dirt and a pretty decent size grass patch. All enclosed in a gated area. Now let's talk about the best part, the park for the kids. 1 huge jungle gym area that has a large spiral slide, a small slide and lots of things to climb on. The jungle gym has this cool snake like diamond patter with in the hand rails so as to give the little ones better grip and they don't slip with little feet and hands. Very nice. The jungle gym is under a few canopies and is shaded some what. It was very nice because my kids could still play and it be terribly hot on all the equipment. There is a smaller gym set for smaller kids and that has some climbing items and a double slide which are side by side. There are two sets of swings, one for babies, you know the ones with the waist hold up piece and the four holes so the baby can face either direction. And a regular swing set for the bigger kids. This park also has a zip line. Yup you read that right a zip line. Which is super cool. The first zip line is a rope with a circle paddle so you can sit on and if you walk it to either end you will find a table top platform to which you can push yourself and get a good zip going. The other is an egg shaped seat with a locking clasp in the front I believe this is for handicap children. They are both super cool and I would highly recommend them. In between the Ramadas there is a little field and it looks like possibly half a football field. It's wide enough to kick around the soccer ball, wide enough to play frisbee or wide enough to put up your own canopy and relax. All the park feathers are under a shaded warning and don't get to hot at all. This park is pretty cool considering that parks when I was a kid didn't have nearly all of these amenities. So if your on the north side of Tucson and your in the mood for a chill spot. Check this place out. It has what your kids are looking for. Trust me. Oh also less than a mile up the road there is a circle k and the slushy ice cold drinks are always available. Stay cool out there and stay safe.

He has been going for about 6 months. We are members of the dog park (reflecting a majority of our experience). We also have used the daycare service. I truly appreciate the fact that Buford has a place that he can go play where everyone has been temperament tested. Plus, they take steps to separate dogs who just don't get along. Buford always has a lot of fun. He gets to run and wrestle and play (with boundaries that are enforced, which helps in his ever evolving quest to be the goodest boy). The place is constantly being cleaned, which is also amazing. All of my interactions with the staff have been positive. And Buford likes everyone. I've had a really good experience taking our pup there and would highly recommend it.
