We quickly learned that wedding planning is a full-time job and there was no way we could have done it alone. Beginning with our initial consultation, we were immediately impressed by Elizabeth's organizational abilities, professionalism, and enthusiasm for event planning. Once she met our parents they had the same impression, and throughout the process, she did a great job at mitigating our vision of what we wanted with what they did (which more often than not was quite different), and this one of the areas in which she most excels. We would have liked there to have been a stronger urge to negotiate with vendors, but all in all, Elizabeth was a joy to work with and we couldn't have done it without her. Not only were we able to plan our wedding in 5 months, but with Elizabeth's help, it was the wedding that everyone wanted. We would highly recommend her and Tandem Events to anyone looking to plan their next wedding or event.

Elizabeth is a pleasure to work with -- she is highly organized, creative, resourceful, and thorough. We had all kinds of unconventional requests (baskets of in-season apples as the centerpieces; gluten-free cupcakes from Babycakes NYC in lieu of wedding cake; kosher wine for all; an eight-piece band with a singer traveling from out of state; and more) -- and she handled everything with confidence, excellent judgment, and genuine enthusiasm for our wedding. Elizabeth works extremely well with all kinds of people from clergy to catering staff, and during our ceremony and reception she proved herself to be extremely skilled at ensuring that we were buffered from all the behind-the-scenes details and logistics -- freeing us to truly enjoy and absorb the day as the meaningful and beautiful moment in our lives that it was. At the same time, she has a keen eye for budget and cost-containment, and this helped greatly in the early-to-mid stages of the planning process. I highly recommend Elizabeth and Tandem Weddings, and we are grateful to her for making our day so special and memorable!

Good lighting design can truly set the mood and fill up a space, sometimes more than renting physical decor or going all out in other aspects. And ULS know how to do it right! For our wedding, we had a few distinct spaces: an outdoor rooftop terrace where we had our ceremony and left open for guests to socialize throughout the reception; an indoor space that held both our dance floor AND an art gallery, a challenging duality of high-energy and somewhat refined environments that needed to feel cohesive; and an after party space where we wanted to reflect the feeling of a karaoke lounge/noraebang. It was a tall order, but ULS more than delivered. Each space was so distinct yet nothing felt jarring or out of place from the rest of the event. Market lights gave the outdoor rooftop an air of romance and welcomed guests to take advantage of the summer breeze. Party lights and mirror balls danced with our guests, giving them the energy they needed to move all night. Uplights throughout, and especially in the art gallery, elevated the space (and kept us from having to default to using blinding, clinical house lights). And those same uplights in color transformed our after party floor into the vision we had of a karaoke lounge to end the night. We can't thank the Universal Light & Sound team enough for helping make our dream wedding come true!

Little did we know, Roey would skillfully shepherd us through three years of pandemic related delays, vendor shuffles and other mishigas. At every turn, she kept us energized, positive and excited while also keeping us on track. Quite frankly, our wedding would not have been possible without her. She was the perfect curator, cheerleader and creative partner. Roey understood and expanded on our vision in countless thoughtful ways along the epic journey. She helped us source, communicate, and partner with a cadre of all-star vendors. Working seamlessly to interface between the two of us, our vendors and our venue. We lost track of how many calls, emails and design meetings we had over the years, but she brought the same level of kindness, patience and attention to every single conversation. When the weekend of our wedding finally arrived, Roey and her entire team made magic and moved mountains. The team brought a level of unprecedented professionalism and understated showmanship to every element of the fête. Roey's warm kindness kept us supported and smiling in the quiet moments between the big ones. Her inventive and collaborative approach to wedding planning is truly second-to-none. She is in a class of her own. We will be forever grateful for the truly special touch that Roey brought to the planning and execution of our favorite weekend of all time.

PLEASE save yourself a lot of time and trouble and look elsewhere. Our experience with Roey was…read moreextremely frustrating. Over the two months that we were in touch with her, Roey consistently failed to communicate in anything remotely resembling a timely manner, citing every excuse under the sun. Here are some examples: 1. It was her birthday so her texts were delayed (?) 2. Her e-mail wasn't receiving messages (3 times) 3. Her e-mail wasn't receiving OR delivering messages (2 times) 4. Her website was down 5. She "lost" my fiancee's e-mail 6. Her phone wasn't delivering text messages (4 times) 7. Her assistant was supposed to take care of it 8. She was at a funeral 9. She was unexpectedly having a root canal You will notice that not a single one of these excuses has anything to do with her professional career. We know that wedding planners are busy and had Roey told us she was working an event or was tied up in preparations for another wedding, that would have been 100% acceptable. However, while we are also extremely understanding of the occasional personal emergency and chalked it up to a fluke the first few (!) times Roey failed to get back to us for personal reasons, we quickly started to run out of patience. After a pretty constant battle on my fiancee's part and a lot of very delayed, long-winded, and rather bizarre "explanatory" e-mails in response, Roey ultimately provided us with zero usable vendors. Everything we booked while under contract with Roey, we found ourselves. Needless to say, we terminated said contract. On July 19th she agreed to refund our $2500 deposit. On August 14th, after five e-mails from my fiancée as well as several text messages, we still hadn't received our money back. Guess what? Her assistant was supposed to take care of it. THEN apparently fraud was detected on her account and she had to cancel the check. However, as soon as we began to file with small claims court, (with the support of our lawyer who wholeheartedly agreed that we had a cut and dry case) the check was immediately "in the mail and on its way," though it still didn't make it to us for another ten days, FIVE WEEKS after we initially asked for it back. Here's the thing: a wedding planner's primary job is to make your life easier. Roey will not do that. We switched to Starling on Bond and they have been ten thousand times more helpful in the two weeks we've been working with them than in the two months we wasted with Roey. Please save your money and your sanity and trust someone else with your big day!

As soon as we met with her, I knew I wanted to work with her. She is super professional, down-to-earth and offered really helpful advice when we needed it. We hired Erganic for their "day of" services, which actually began two months before the wedding. Sojourner and her team put together a great day of schedule for us, contacted all of our vendors and maintained contact with them up and thru the wedding day. I didn't have to worry about a thing on our day, which was fabulous! One of her team members, Andrea, was assigned to me on the wedding day as my attendant. I can't say enough great things about her. She attended to my every need, yet gave me the space I needed to enjoy the day. She even helped work out a mishap with my makeup artist. Her other assistant, Michelle, was on the ball as well, sending us emails to make sure they had every detail in place for the day. Everyone from Erganic was amazing and I can't recommend their services more. I was truly impressed with their dedication in making sure we had the best wedding day ever!

My biggest fear was being late but vanessa created a time line that I tried my best to stick to. The day of, she arrived at my house and assisted the videographer and photographers with anything they needed. I almost forgot my husbands gift but she remembered! The minute we arrived at the venue I got a huge surprise from Sojourner! I was feeling so confident everything will move according to plan but it never does because it's a wedding! A few people saw me before the ceremony because the venue did not have a place for guests to wait so vanessa and Sojourner helped take care of that. They were on the hunt for the ring bearer and flower girls but most of all when my in laws were running late, somehow the ceremony went on and we still managed to end the reception on time. I didn't feel stressed and I really don't know how they did it but one thing is for sure I couldn't have enjoyed a smooth carefree day without them. Thank you both!!!!

Let's start here- there's absolutely no way we could have had such a perfect wedding day without Kate & Jennifer. They were available to answer our questions (as ridiculous as these questions may have been at times) from the moment we hired them to be a part of our day. Our wedding was held at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City and while the staff there is wonderful, there isn't a day of coordinator to help with all the details leading up to the day. As funny as it sounds, the reason I decided I was hiring a wedding planner was because I had a moment about halfway through planning where I thought to myself "who's going to cue the music and make sure we all know when to walk down the aisle?"While my husband was initially skeptical and it wasn't a cost we had budgeted for, he agreed. Enter Kate. She knows the Metropolitan Building like the back of her hand (seriously. I think our wedding was like her 106th here). About 6 weeks before our wedding, we did a walk through with Kate to select items, go over floor plans and just talk about the experience we want our guests to have. We walked out that day and my husband exhaled and said "this is literally the best money we've ever spent. No way we could do this without her". Kate & Jen did what we feel was so beyond partial planning. They contacted vendors, created floor plans and timelines for the day, helped us select antiques to be used to decorate the space, eased any nerves we had and yes, told us when it was time to walk down the aisle. Wedding planning involves so many details. We are eternally grateful for Kate & Jen's help throughout our engagement and on our wedding day. My husband and I are both sad we don't get to talk to them anymore but hopefully our paths cross again soon! Book Green Apple Weddings & Events. Make room in the budget. It will be the best money you've ever spent.
