I couldn't have asked for a better wedding hair stylist for my wedding on 6/16/18. From the moment…read moreI met Theodora I knew I was in good hands. She was patient, kind and had a vision for my hair. Before I met Theodora, I was having a hard time finding a hair stylist that would do onsite for my wedding. She not only came onsite to do all my bridesmaids and myself she came on time and ready. Theodora had a created a timeline for each girl getting her hair done. This was beyond helpful to a busy bride. She is professional and the best to work with. I would highly recommend her, if you would like someone with talent, professionalism and a great personality.

First off, I'm selfishly reluctant to write this review, because I adore Theodora so much that I'm…read morescared that once everyone discovers this hidden gem, it'll take forever to book her for myself! LOL. However, luckily for me (and you all), she was recommended to me, and I feel it's only right to pay it forward...... Theodora has now served as my hairstylist for BOTH routine hair care (i.e. highlights, haircut) and bridal hairstyling for my big day. Routine Hair Care: Theodora always uses Redken bleach (for those curious gurus out there) for coloring, including for my full head of blonde highlights. She also does my layered haircuts. I can't tell you how many compliments I've gotten (including from random strangers on Michigan Avenue) ever since she's been doing my hair. The icing on the cake? It all was $95 and took two hours. UNBELIEVABLE. She does charge an extra $5-$10 for a blowdry depending on the type of hair you have. She also does a deep conditioning treatment (DIVINE!) for about $5. All her prices are extremely reasonable. Bridal Hairstyling: She offered a very affordable trial ($50) and was extremely flexible about meeting times. On the day of the wedding, Theodora showed up 15 minutes early. Yes, she travels to you! I cannot tell you how invaluable this service is on a hectic wedding day. She did blow-outs for both Moms and low chignons for the 4 bridesmaids. She also did a half up-do with curls for myself. It took her about 4 hours total to do all 7 of our heads. The hairstyles lasted all day and night and even through the following day for myself. The icing on the cake? It was all $450 total. Theodora is an extremely great listener and fully "gets" your ideas. Her real talent is taking the idea a notch further making your hair look THAT MUCH BETTER. Invaluable, I'm telling you. Everything about Theodora's hairstyling services is perfect. I can't recommend her enough! You won't be disappointed!

I reached out to Wendy through Yelp while looking for assistance with makeup for an upcoming event…read more From the very first moment, she responded promptly and personally, rather than sending a preset message. I was immediately impressed by her courtesy and professionalism. Despite the short notice, she found the time to accommodate me. I must confess that my knowledge of makeup was very limited. Other than following occasional online tutorials, I had never really learned much about makeup, even at my age. Wendy patiently guided me through the process of selecting the right makeup palette and building my own personalized collection. That alone was priceless! She then walked me step by step through the art of applying makeup. Wendy is a true artist with a generous heart. Her style is subtle, elegant, and classy. She creates a look so natural that it almost seems as though you are not wearing makeup at all, yet the transformation is remarkable. In a world increasingly influenced by a Kardashian style of beauty, Wendy is a breath of fresh air and a beautiful reminder that simplicity is elegance. I only wish I had met her decades ago! Whether you are preparing for a special event or want to look your most polished and professional at work, consulting with Wendy is an investment that will pay dividends for a lifetime--not only in how you look, but, more importantly, in how you feel about yourself.

Chyla did such a wonderful job creating a look that made me feel like the most beautiful version of myself. My bridal party also had an amazing experience with Chyla, and we were all so happy with how everyone's hair and makeup turned out. I actually found Andie through the hair person I ended up using, Livia Caporale. It was important to me to have a hair and makeup person that work well together, and I found that through Andie and Livia. My first in-person meeting with Andie was at the trail at her house. Her condo is a great setup for the trial, with easy parking. She really made me feel at home. I must say the way my makeup turned out at the trial wasn't really what I was going for. She's so approachable that I told her I didn't feel I looked like myself, so we modified from there. I left her house being only decently pleased with my makeup. I am SO glad I stuck with her because the wedding day makeup was phenomenal. She used a new airbrush machine she had just gotten and it made all of us look flawless and like we weren't wearing any foundation at all. I couldn't believe it. My husband even mentioned how good it looked! Not only would I not hesitate to use Andie again, but I want to come up with more reasons to get my makeup done! Lastly, as a bride, she gets an A in important things such as responding to emails quickly, easy contract, sanitary with her application process, her prices are average, on-time, she's super nice, keeps the mood light, and her experience allows her to work within the time constraints of getting ready for a big event and coordinating with your hair person.

A no-hassle way to get pretty on your wedding day? Coming right up!…read more After getting several quotes from other makeup artists and companies...I was frustrated and feeling a bit like "screw this, I can do my own makeup and hair!" Inflexible, upcharges for everything, outrageously expensive, booked, etc etc. No thanks. Then, a light bulb flashed... I actually found Julia (the makeup artist at Pretty Windy City) through her other affiliated venture, Vavoom Pinups. She spends time there making gals into cute little sexpot kittens for the camera. We took a friend of mine there for a shoot a year or so back and I remember the makeup being fantastic, Julia being phenomenal (and fun, and low stress), etc, etc, etc. So, I was pretty thrilled when I emailed and Julia told me that they actually love doing weddings and she also had a hair girl (Sara). Bonus! And that they'd come to my hotel, no problem. AND that they'd come to my house to do my trial. Could they have made it any better? In a time that was actually a bit helter skelter, the gals at PWC made life sparkle. They materialized my "vision" (meaning, pinterest board with random photos) into something I loved. Super simple, but glam. Julia uses airbrush foundation, which gave me a glow that more than one person commented on. Of course, I told my husband it was surely because I was so happy...but really, the makeup job was bangin'. Loved my hair too. Also simple and fresh, upscale without being severe. Sara is a gem! Pretty Windy City was all that and a bagga'chips and thus they are at the top of my list in terms of "wedding vendors." They made the afternoon fun, they weren't frantic or stressed out, they were flexible, they made my mom and grandmother look beautiful, and were all around just really fun gals to have at the hotel that day. Down to earth. Not divas. My grandmother (who I adore) said it was actually her very favorite part of the day, which touched my heart. I know she felt really beautiful walking out of that hotel room, and I was so grateful to J&S for making her feel special. Sara even fluffed up her hair on the fly after she got caught in the rain! True service and heart in this company. I'll post photos once I have them from the photographer! *payable by cash or check. *email for quotes/pricing. *no minimums, they'll come do just the bride if that's what you'd like. *if they travel to hotel, you'll pay for their parking, of course. *tell them I said hello!
