Terrible business practices, and customer service by Florida11 rental agency also known as Floridavacations4U. We would not recommend you risk renting through this organization.
We rented this home for a period of one month and I had much communication via calls and emails with AngelaBaeumler, one of the owners of this Agency. It was important to me to have clear communication about rates and policies so we would have a wonderful reprieve from the cold midwest and the much needed stress relief due to the pandemic & family tragedy we had experienced.
A week before our trip I emailed Angela for instructions and the address, she replied it was already sentl. I checked all files - no communication. One day later I received a very difficult to read email with vague instructions.
Upon arrival we noticed four cameras around the peripheral of the home and two Arlo devices with-in. A bit awkward as we felt immediately that we were being watched and listened to with-in the home. The light on the Arlo in the home blinked continually which possibly indicated someone was listening, but we decided not to make a big deal of it, relax and enjoy our stay.
Before we signed our contract and paid Florida 11, I had several conversations by phone with Angela from the Agency in Germany, to be very clear on the details & pricing of this home. She said all details & pricing were in the contract. This was not true. The contract was vague and was missing many details. I explained our adult children would visit through out the month, & some friends occasionally for a night or two. She approved our dog with a $150 fee. At that time we did not know when each of our children would come to visit and she had not added it to the contract so I added 4 children would visit, their arrival TBD. I agreed to a ONE TIME DEDUCTION to pay the deposit, the dog fee, cleaning fee, $100 for electricity and half down. In December a charge on our account was made with out notification. I let it go.
Our daughters & son in law all came the first week. At the end of this week my husband got a nasty, very unprofessional email from Peter Baeumler, owner of the Agency we had never spoken to. He stated the owner of the home was VERY ANGRY, furious at the number of guests in the home. He was not made aware of these guests. He listed each person, the date they arrived and number of days they stayed. (one daughter arrived with us, and one came mid week). He demanded we pay him $600 immediately or we would be evicted from the home. They were watching very closely, daily.
We were completely shocked and immediately responded to this message. We asked the owner of the Agency to call us to discuss. No response for two days. We were extremely anxious about the situation and it put a huge damper on our vacation.
We had treated the home as our own, cleaning drawers & cabinets full of ants & roaches. We did not mention the cleaning issues, or the fact that the home was quite old and in great need of new paint and carpet.
The home was surface clean when we arrived , but found several dirty glasses (lip stick marks etc) and plates, damp towels, a bed with soil on the sheets. There was not enough bedding, every quilt was for a single rather than a full, queen or King in each room. I spent 2 days washing dishes and linens. This was concerning especially during the Pandemic!
We had numerous issues as the hot tub continually shut off & would not reach a desired temperature. Fortunately we did have Arriane the WONDERFUL site manager who came to help figure this out. She also sent the owner a copy of our contract (which Florida11 had not done), explained that there was no indication to pay for additional people over the two of us. If the Florida11 had indicated an additional fee per person, we would have taken this into consideration in our selection of the rental home.
The lack of professionalism and ethics in this transaction is evident. We felt the additional fee that the owner was demanding should have been paid by the Florida11 as this was not at all in our contract. Out of Good Will, we wired The Agency $275 via a verbal agreement to split some of the cost the owner was demanding.
Last week i emailed Angela asking for our additional deposit back ($400), I was aware that approximately $149 would be taken out of the deposit for electricity usage (Our agreement stated that we would pay an extra KW usage for anything over $100 used).
Response: we would not get a refund. An additional cost for electricity above what the Manager had calculated was indicated.
This company took no responsibility for their incomplete contract and lack of communication to us the renters or the owner himself. I urge you to consider this experience and consider working with an Agency with Professionalism and integrity for your next visit to Florida. read more
