Just love this place! Old fashioned service with friendly and very helpful staff. So much better…read morethan Home Depot. This is our very own local store with a wide selection of hardware and lumber. I will always go here first!

Realizing that using black electrical tape was not aesthetically pleasing to the designer wannabe's…read moreeye, I drove myself off to the local hardware, which according to Yelp was the ACE Hardware located on 284 NE 79th St In Miami. In short they gave me an estimate of $8.00 for 5 small rolls of different colored electrical tape with 1 small white one in. OMG I was appalled. Disgusted with Yelp I turned to Google and found the Little River Building & Home Supply store. It wasn't far from this ACE Robbery store. I did not have high hopes as I had never heard of this place and it seemed to be off the beaten path for sure. It was 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday, and like most places in Little Haiti I was expecting it to be closed or be closing soon. I pull up, and pull in, and behind the counter, to me; (which to you may seem odd), is two medium framed, Italian Middle Aged ladies who seem to mean business. One lady clearly runs the store, the other is either family, or is just providing company. I obviously seem exasperated because the one Italian mafia looking middle aged lady asks me how she can help me, which I think is quite refreshing in Little Haiti, but anyway, I tell her I am desperately looking for white electrical tape, a feat that seems to be elusive as finding Dom Perignon on 54th and NE 2nd Ave. She turns away from me and I think, yeah they don't have it either, I should probably should just look online. She turns back to me holding a large roll of white electrical tape and says, "here we go". I look at her like she is definitely the Italian Mafia. I ask her how much. She says; "$3 dollars". Well that was that right there. Like someone out there said; it's all in the little things. It damn well sure is. I have been back three times since. The Owners name is Laguna. I don't think she's Italian. I have never had the audacity to ask. I think she has some handsome sons though, and I think perhaps they put in a shift or two at the store, but I think on the whole she works herself to death there. Her husband died years ago. She told me she knew more than her husband did, and I believe her. I once told her about a speaker wire project I was doing and she asked me I about the points I was using. I had never heard of a point but I had seen one. I just never put two and two together. I told her about the silver mirror that was hanging by a miracle and a wisp of air, she scolded me on the chosen anchor and educated me on the correct anchor as well as the overall use of the stud finder while I was trying to find a stud finder app on my IPHONE. What I can tell you if you're a Man - I mean you must be reading this for something informational enough to want to go to this store, is that their 80lb cement bags are $6.90 each, and it doesn't matter how much you want they have it on hand. And you are so welcome; I took all those pictures just for you big daddy.

Valencia Coverings - Shadowing on the grout line.

After installation, we noticed a shadowing effect around every grout line. It was immediately obvious something was wrong. Despite multiple attempts to get it resolved, it took weeks to get someone out to inspect the issue. During that time, our construction was delayed, and we couldn't move into our home. When their "tile expert" finally did come out, their "solution"? A $16,000 tile cleaning job! He worked on a section to show us how he could clean it up. The defect was in the tile and no amount of cleaning was going to fix it. We felt we were getting taken advantage of. The other man Valencia sent out was rude and intimidating to our building team. We did not appreciate Alejandro sending out a man with with offensive character. The owner Alejandro was all talk and no action. He sent long, apologetic emails full of promises, but never followed through. The people he sent out were not helpful and caused further delays to our project. Valencia Coverings has poor customer service, has been unresponsive and takes no accountability. I would never recommend Valencia Coverings to anyone looking for quality work or reliable communication. Proceed with caution.

I was looking for a local supplier of b/bb cabinet grade birch plywood. I called Dixie plywood and…read morewas told that yes they do carry it and have it in stock. The person on the phone asked how many sheets I'd like and I told him I'd like two for now since I am waiting on a large shipment and after that I'd be interested in setting up a wholesale account. I was told this wasn't a problem and that I can drive down and pick some up. The next morning my husband drove down there with specific written instructions for the salesperson on what we needed. As soon as my husband arrived, he was immediately given a hard time about only wanting to purchase two and was told they'd sell to him only if he buys three. Not wanting to waste the trip he agreed. After he cut the sheets into smaller parts to for our laser cutting business I went to begin using some and immediately realized this was absolutely not what I needed. This was not b/bb grade, not even close. This was bb/cp grade which is completely different. This was confirmed when I tried to laser cut it and it almost caught fire and did not cut even with our big laser. The next morning I called and spoke with the supervisor who said they don't carry b/bb grade and never have. They only sell bb/cp and whoever we spoke with made a mistake. He then proceeded to try and tell me that the glue is the same on all birch plywood. Maybe he thought that since I'm a woman I don't know anything or that I was born yesterday, but the glue types used on b/bb cabinet grade indoor use birch plywood is absolutely completely different than the glue used on bb/cp outdoor use birch plywood. The description on his product even states EXT which means it's exterior use plywood. You can see on the receipt it says this. He then told me I'm basically out of luck and stuck with $200 worth of completely useless to me plywood. I could return it only if it was exactly as sold which would mean I'd have to lose two hours of work to drive all the way down there and back and since we've cut it, we couldn't return it. This is unacceptable. If your employees don't know about the products they sell and how to do their job then maybe you as a supervisor have failed. I chose this company over International Plywood who also said they have what I needed and at a much lower price as well only because Dixie was a bit closer. Big mistake.
