They were all extremely polite and handled the situation in a stellar manner as to not add any stress to the situation. They stood by and wait for our friend to finish eating. One must call after you've been added to the list and merely give a dob and drivers license number that takes their system 15 minutes to update to add you. I spoke with Melissa at 8:24 am on my drive in to work and she says I have to update the system not telling me the process. Sharon if that's her name turns to Melissa to find this out and has a 6 minute argument in hopes of not having to do her job. I asked her if her salary was paid by the tax payers for which she response yes and tell her I know my family didn't matter to her but felt she should be the servant she's paid to be. She begrudging got my info added and then hung up on me. At 4:55 PM I call back Melissa answers I guess they got caller ID so Sharon don't want to talk or maybe that was it since it was 12 til and she would have to work 2 minutes over her was logged out and GONE. I ask Melissa if Mark Hunter was still sheriff and go over the fact their job is just like mine customer service and let them know how poor it was. If it weren't so sad it would be pathetic. Columbia county tax dollars wasted on two individuals that don't want to do what they are paid to do their JOB. Last year I found myself in a facility for relaxation and professional growth known as the Camden…read morecounty jail. This facility uses exhilarating, immersion group therapy. After going through a rough divorce and taking a trip to GA, I found myself gaining admittance to the exclusive Camden County Jail. A kind hearted state trooper escorted me to a group session with my soon to be, new best friends. Soon after being locked in a 10'X12' therapy room with 10 other non-volunteers, I learned why Camden county jail is so famous for its curative therapy sessions. The group was led by a bearded almost budda like figure. He was calm and soothing when he let me know, in his orange jump suit, that I would be out of there in a couple of hours. He was being transferred up but he was there to guide me while he could. Even though he was being held there for child porn or murdering his wife or both, he kept his cool for the benefit of the group. Another member was there for running from the cops when apparently a person that he was selling unregistered pharmaceuticals to was actually an undercover therapy consultant for Camden county jail. They quickly grabbed him after he wrecked his car trying to leave and put him in our session so he could grow from the experience. Some people just don't want help. It was a sort of intervention. The other eight were similar and we all bonded while being in "deprivation chamber therapy." That is being confined to a 10'X12' room with no toilet, with 10 other non-volunteers. We could hear the screams from the solitary confinement therapy chambers. This is only for the most dedicated non-volunteer members at the Camden County Jail. In these therapy sessions you will "find yourself," in a Timothy Leary type of way, and occasionally poop may be smeared on the walls from what I understand. As my session ended I was released with a young marine who had been put into our session for the same "therapy" as me. While we were leaving a man with no clothes on, that could not close his eyes, was banging on the door to get in. Apparently he had tried some sort of drug therapy with less than great results. "Camden County Jail" does not use any drug therapy. They stay focused on the teachings of both Jung and Freud. Talk therapy only, and sleep deprivation. The lights never turn off. Cutting edge psychotherapy. Anyway, me and my new young marine friend both looked at each other as we realized that our group would be changed without us, but that this new non-volunteer member would bring much to the ongoing group session, even though he was completely naked. We both left and were allowed to wear shoes and have our belts back. This is proof that you have finished your session and grown in your understanding of yourself. I learned a lot from my short time at the Camden County Jail. First, everyone screws up and it could always be worse. Second, avoid the naked guy with crazy eyes.

I had my first experience spending time at length in jail at the Suwanee County Jail. I did not…read morerealize how poorly people were being treated in jail. Many of the guards are repugnant. There is black mold covering many of the walls, The water is too hot or too cold, the food is edible but not healthy, it seemed like most of the meat wasn't real, there aren't options for vegetarian, gluten free, or kosher meals, the constant farts at night with no air ventilation in the dorms was disgusting, no Holy books other than the bible were allowed, a man wasn't allowed to practice his Muslim daily prayers in his dorm, originally inmates only got one mat to sleep on which I experienced because they refused to give me a second one for a week but once I got one it was still terrible and I now have lower spinal inflammation that is making it difficult to stand for long periods of time, the law library was not available to the inmates unless they were representing themselves, the reading library was terrible, the food portions were so small that if you didn't get commissary you'd start losing weight, the drinking water tasted disgusting, the food trays had crusted black mold in the scratch marks at the bottom of the sections, I had heard that the cups were dipped in sanitizer to clean them and not scrubbed, the dish washing machine had been broken for weeks, the air conditioning was way too low all the time, the air filters in the ceilings look as if they'd never been cleaned, inmates got 1 hour of recreation outside a week, they sand blasted the windows so you couldn't see out any more, I met one fellow being held illegally without bond, I met another who had double jeopardy committed on him. The phone system needed to be changed too, these days one can get an unlimited long distance phone line for $20 a month, inmates shouldn't have to pay $25 for 4, 15 minute long distance calls. More phones need to be installed and people should be entitled to a few decent length free calls a day. The phones were never sanitized. Apparently these were country club conditions compared to other jails. Our inmates need to be cared for not held, many were in on non violent charges. A wider variety of philosophy books could assist in the development of the people.
