Most businesses start off well, impressing customers. But the question is - can they continue to deliver high quality, reliable service? Florida Pro Lawn Care started off great. Darnell, the owner, was very personable and although we disagreed on pricing structure (I found him to be more expensive than other companies), he was accommodating and he ensured me that he would exceed my expectations. He did a wonderful job with the initial landscaping project and with the garden overhaul but then things started to fall apart. Sod was laid in my yard when I was out of town, giving no opportunity for early watering. Needless to say, the grass died. Darnell became much less attentive in texts and increasingly more difficult to get a hold of, promising to get back to me and follow up took days to weeks. I waited for three months for him to arrange a time to meet to look at the irrigation system. I ended up going with a different company. Honestly, I think Darnell and his team are best at completing single projects. The maintenance service has been a struggle. In the early days he would send a text when the yard was going to be cut. More recently, there has been a lack of consistency in getting my yard cut every two weeks and when they come, there isn't great attention paid to detail, i.e., vines left on the house, garden overgrowth and roots running through it. Darnell seems like a great guy but perhaps the company has grown too much for him to be able to deliver on his promise of impressing his clients. He may benefit from an administrative assistant who can triage calls and schedule appointments for him. I want his company to do well but this experience has been somewhat disappointing. read more

Awesome experience for my sod replacement and landscaping update project. It took me two phone calls to get the estimate scheduled. After the second call and estimate on Thursday, I had a new yard by Monday evening. Darnell gave me a detailed estimate when no other service provider would even talk to me. Asked for an inspection on my sprinkler system. The guy shows up smelling like weed And performs a rushed attempt at a system inspection. I watched and ask questions as it was done to ensure I wasn't missing something but I had already identified the problem of not receiving water from the well. He proceeded to check the components that were working fine and doesn't even attempt to troubleshoot the pump or plumbing just tells me I need a new one. He proceeds to quote me $950 for a new one. I do some further investigation on my own and find a small leak in the plumbing. $2.50 later my system is working fine. He is either dishonest or incompetent. After the "wrong way" landscape company took my money and only did half the job I was frustrated. I decided to try this company and and read such a wonderful review I figured it was a good choice. So glad I did!!! Darnell is so professional and polite. He came and checked out our yard( both front and back) on a Monday and was here that Wednesday to do the job. He did a terrific job on it all! I was so delighted to come home and see a beautiful yard instead of the over grown mess that was there. We just bought our house and they didn't do the yard. I wish I could give Darnell and his crew more than 5 stars. From the first encounter to when the job was completed, which was the estimated time, the crew was both very professional and pleasant to work with. I had a small job but they treated me like it was just as important as a large one to them I would defiantly recommend this great company and I am sure I will be using them again for my next project. Here I am again - over the past 6 months I have had Darnell and his crew working on a few more projects. Earlier I had zoysia sod installed in my back yard. I was so impressed with the great job that a couple of months later I had him do the front yard also. He is very easy to work with as I pay for projects as they are done so I break them up instead of all at once. Not a problem with him. I just had him and his crew do more projects, he worked on my irrigation system that proved to be a challenge but he worked on it until he figured it out. I also at the last minute decided to plant a tree which they did the very next day. I will also add that there were a few problem spots on the sod that did not grow so he treated the ground and replaced the sod. I am still extremely satisfied with the amount of attention he gives to even smaller homes. Although I agree that most services wane after the "honeymoon" it has been 10 months and 4 projects later I still am giving 5 stars. Update: Darnel and crew it it again. I took advantage of his Black Friday special and had all of my mulch replaced and knockout roses planted and also he designed how to cover up very ugly irrigation pipes and pump with beautify flowers and shrubs. I have already decided to go to him for all of my landscape and irrigation needs.He still treats me like a new customer, which usually wears off after a while. read more

We have been long time customers of Florida Pro and they always do an excellent job with our Landscape projects along with weekly lawn maintenance. Recently we are in the process of installing a Swimming Pool w/ Pools by John Clarkson and have hired Florida Pro to handle all of the landscape components involved. Darnell and his team were able to seamlessly work with the Pool timeline, making sure the existing landscaping was removed or relocated, including capping our irrigation system to prevent damage. Do not use this company. Darnell is very unprofessional. He doesn't give a written estimate but goes by a handshake. Later he bait and switches and claims he never said what he did. He tried to install a cheaper grass than what was agreed. When I asked him to remove the few pieces already laid he held my lawn hostage, telling me I'd have to pay for him to remove it, pay for it and then pay extra for what I asked for and agreed to. He also agreed to bring in sand fill for the low areas but didn't do it. He cashed the deposit check, said I can't make him work then walked off the job, leaving my yard tore up. I went by the reviews when I hired him. The positive reviews have to be fake. My attorney has advised me to file a small claims against to get my deposit back and the cost for another landscaper to finish the job. I will be doing so. read more

Several customers have complaints about the owner starting off well, but then not so much. I have a three month probation period before I review. I was asked to give a review before the probationary period was up. I have a suspicion he hijacked a business license. There is one address on his website that I sent weekly checks to, and another address on his actual license. The phone number on the website also isn't correct. He wants to demand a credit card, but I would never do that. It allows him to charge whenever he wants. There has been times when agreed upon work simply wasn't done. Find somebody else. read more

Can I just say, wow! I had a major yard clean up done, and the result was incredible. Before Darnell worked his magic, my yard was so over grown and looked like a jungle. I was seriously afraid tigers were roaming my property, haha. Darnell, is so thorough, attentive to detail, and just plain good at what he does.
