FFA is a well run fencing academy. Coach Brian and Tyler truly have passion in what they do. We live in the Orlando area but travel to Gainesville to have our daughter train with FFA. As a competitive fencer, she requires that extra attention in training (physical and mental) in order to do well in the tournament setting. My wife and I feel like the coaches here do an excellent job in all aspects of helping my daughter perform at her best. Their new facility is spacious and perfectly setup for training and on-site competitions. Oh, and on another note, I think it is really "awesome" that FFA takes the time and effort to hold monthly competition events in all three weapons foil, epee and saber. At Florida Fencing Academy my son is learning not only fencing skills but how to be a responsible, caring person and a good friend thanks to having a wonderful coach like Brian Harper. He approaches each child individually and that inspires the child, which boosts their confidence and happiness. We had a great time. The coach we worked with was an excellent teacher and introduced us to an infighting drill that really rocked! We are out-of-towners, but the coach was open to having us for just one lesson. Loved the venue: mirrors to check your form, and a dedicated electric strip. All three weapons available and the coach was so nice about loaning us equipment. The price was good, too. I've visited a few other clubs, and loved this one. Of course we love our club best, On Target Fencing in Cleveland (http://www.ontargetfencing.com), because we have the best teacher/coach in the world, Tom Nagy. The Florida fencing academy has changed my life in more ways than I can count. Being there has given me many, many skills including learning how to lead classes, fitness and training.
