That said, the follow up experience has been extremely frustrating. My one week post op appointment was cancelled, and now my 30 day post op follow up has also been cancelled. I was told the reason was overbooking. I am a busy person as well, and I made a real effort to adjust my schedule to be available for these appointments. Last minute cancellations like this are disruptive and disrespectful of a patient's time, especially after surgery when follow up care matters. The issue here is not the doctor's skill, but the scheduling and practice management. This experience has left me disappointed and frustrated, and it needs to be addressed.

You walk in and a massive waiting area surrounds you. The check in window is easy to navigate and the staff quite efficient to verify your appointment and get further instruction. Depending on your type of appointment, there may be a bit of a delay getting in to see the Doc. The visit was well over 2 hours. While I was waiting I notice a testing room with a window and it was dark and 2 young ladies were in there talking they were there about 10 mins and got up & left. One of the girls came back to the waiting area I was in and called me back. The front desk staff were very friendly, nice & willing to help. The building was very odd shaped which made it difficult to find the front door. I've decided to find another eye specialist.

I waited 45…read moremin past my appointment to be seen for a routine eye exam. the appointment took weeks to schedule so i ensured to have an appointment as soon as the doors opened at 0730. as the lobby began to fill up after my arrival (which I was on time for) patients who had arrived well after me were being seen - long story short, I walked out without receiving the eye exam I had waited weeks for. I feel that because my appointment was made through the VA I wasn't as high of a priority as the others who arrived well after me. The front desk representatives were not rude, but they certainly were not friendly. The GPS location on Apple Maps brings you to the front parking lot of the building to where there isn't a sign telling you where to go for the office. I had to call the eye institute to ask where the place was and the person told me she didn't know because she worked for a third party call vendor. Also, check the waivers they ask you to sign regarding third party sharing - I would not recommend approving. All around efforts earned a 0. The silver lining is that I provided my feedback to the VA to ensure other veterans can receive community care at a vendor who does appreciate their business - not this location.

The lady at the front desk asked me for my name and phone number to "put me on the schedule." I told her that I was just looking and did not want an appointment. She pressed me further and told me that they wanted to know who is in the building, which seemed odd. So, I gave her my name and phone number. Then, she asked for my birthday. I'm more or less flabbergasted at this point, since the business is located in Orange Park, not Beverly Hills. I told her to just put down 1/1/2020. Another staff member came out to request my birthday because they want to know who is in the building. Good grief, do they have a lot of thefts in that area? I have never had anyone ask for my personal details in order to look at eyeglasses frames.

Yesterday I had a bit of an eye emergency. I've been dealing with a stye since last week and it got…read moreworse over the weekend (it grossed me out). My eye was swollen, my vision started to become blurry, and it was uncomfortable. I called Atlantic Eye Institute to see if they could fit me in for a same day appointment. I was NOT holding out hope, but when I called I was pleasantly surprised they had something open that afternoon. When I arrived I filled out virtual paperwork, and then waited in the lobby until my name was called. I can't remember the nurse I had, but she was pleasant, asked a bunch of questions regarding the state of my eye, did some observations, and then walked me to an open room. Dr. Diaz came in happy as a clam. Greeted me with a nurse. I told her I was sorry that my eye looked disgusting and she smiled and said these are interesting to us. So that made me feel somewhat better. After looking at my eye, she decided to drain the stye, due to the size, the discomfort I was having. It didn't hurt, she prescribed me a steroid antibiotic cream, and made me a follow up appointment and I was on my way. I was happy and grateful they could fit me in on the same day, because I was miserable before I came in.
