I just got off the phone with Florida Blue with your customer representative, Kendra. Out of every customer service call taker I've ever spoken to in my life, she exceeded my expectations tenfold. She was incredibly helpful, courteous, and attentive in assisting me, and I could tell she genuinely cares about making a positive difference. As someone who used to work in customer service on the phones throughout my life before becoming disabled, I know how valuable and much of an asset people like her are... I dreaded calling today, but Kendra made such a positive impact that I even told her I'd leave a good review and did the survey at the end of the call. We have been long time fans of Florida Blue, and very disappointed at their 2026 customer care 1. Unethical - They require signed firms but give customers no option to email or upload forms so any claim dispute is stretched out for months often 2. Medicare / Older Workers : For older workers, where one spouse is in Medicare age and are still included in employers paid plan - they require signed and only "mail" forms no means of allowing elderly customers to email signed form and weeks after form is mailed - they still do not show in customers account and claims continue to be denied because they have not updated their system with the mailed in forms they forced elderly customers to submit Adding additional and unwarranted stress on elderly customers is not legal and not what we expected from a health insurance brand we had been fans of Whether on a federal or state level, these practices need to be investigated asap read more

FL Blue does not operate at the speed of business. Sending an email takes over 1 week to get an email reply back. Then another email is generated. To perform one task, it takes weeks. If you call them, you are on hold for a ridiculous amount of time and switched between one department and the next. It appears much of their staff works remotely and no one knows what is going on. So incredibly frustrating and not able to get anyone to resolve anything in a timely fashion. I could not have been clearer in the reasoning for my call but the agent could not understand after repeating myself twice. I asked for a manager. 15 minutes later was connected; explained my need and he said "one moment" and hung up. A great company until you need something. Then be prepared to be very disappointed. We got our taxes done last Saturday, which I dreaded. Instead of using AARP taxes services, we used Real Sense through the United Way. Florida Blue partner with United Way To offer free tax services to low - and moderate income families. Your appointment was at 10 am, but we were nit seen until 11 am. No worries, coffee and water were supplied while we waited. Stevie and our team were wonderful doing the taxes and reverifying before being sent to the IRS. The taxes were done, and I owe uncle same over 2 grand. Not bad for a 1 hour wait! A couple of days ago, I came back for a class hosted by Florida Blue about Station medication. The nurse who presented was knowledgeable. I think I was the youngest in attendance. During the lunch and learn, we were treated to a salad, fig leaves, and a spinach roll. I ate so fast I forgot to take a picture. I am looking forward to possibly taking a class on mental health. Nit only dies the Florida Blue center offer tax return assistance and lunch and learn but also sponsor exercise classes free of charges to members and seniors. I am not a fan of Florida Blue insurance, but I am happy I got taxes done, checked, and ongoing classes to take care of my mental and physical state. I am so disappointed in the inability of Florida Blue to come to an agreement and contract with Baptist Primary Care. I have had Dr. Perry Carlos, a physician with Baptist Primary Care, as my PCP, since 1987. When the negotiations failed, Florida Blue assigned me to a different PCP 20 miles (a 40-minute drive) from my home. When I called to see if there was an alternative, they suggested a PCP in Fleming Island .... I live in Fruit Cove, over 50 minutes away! The agent on he phone was very understanding but could do nothing for me! My family and I have been with Blue Plans since 1975, and we are left with no other alternative but to look elsewhere. read more

I called to cancel my policy. Talked with the associate and she told me my account would be canceled in 14 day on the 1st of October 2024. What she didn't tell me I actually needed to contact Marketplace and cancel my policy. Either she was poorly trained or she didn't know her job, either way my policy was still active until I called again on October 16 to see why I keep getting late notices. I finally cancel with Marketplace and wrote Florida "Screw" a letter explaining their employee didn't do her job and asked them to review the phone conversation. I received a letter back telling me I owed the money and tough luck basically. I sent them their money and told them to eat a big bag of dicks but I'm sure no one cares they got my money and the government money so they win. Florida Screw can suck it! read more

This plan is horrid. Any & all appointments must have full referral from primary. Delay. All bloodwork must be done in the training facility for flunkees known as Quest, despite there being a lab in my PCP & my oncologist office. Last time they couldn't even draw blood. Another afternoon off work, another trip in this congested, packed city. I have never left Quest without huge bruises on my arm. Prescriptions can only be filled at Walgreens--look at their ratings to see how that goes. The pharmacists won't even answer the phone from other pharmacies much less customers. They are virtually hostile. Forget getting top notch care from Florida Blue; Mayo won't accept them, & neither will Baptist-/which is nowhere near top notch. I wish I had dropped this trash plan & will either have to wait until next year or move out of state, & given the severe doctor shortage & never ending increase in population in Florida, that is the best option. read more

I agree with all the other reviews about how horrible Florida Blue is; all BCBS plans I've ever had have been bad. Unfortunately since my employer uses a benefits administrator that contracts with FL Blue I do not have a choice of the provider of my health insurance benefits; unless I went the much more expensive route of private insurance. Since I recently just started being covered by FL Blue I hate it to sum it up. I have been using the same DME for over 5 years now and have always been pleased at my monthly bill after they billed my previous providers (Aetna, United Healthcare), but since being covered by FL Blue my bill has quadrupled; and instead of my DME billing me directly as they have this past 5 years I now have a 3rd party bill administrator (CareCentrix) contracted by FL Blue that I have to pay. I've called both CareCentrix (rude service) and FL Blue to find out why it is so much more and they still haven't given me a good answer. As far as other healthcare needs I'm on a HDHP which means before they pay anything I have to spend $3000 out of pocket to meet the deductible before I save anything. So yes, overall I really do not like FL Blue or my coverage that I have through them. They are part of the problem that is driving up healthcare costs and driving down healthcare services. read more

I am a physician assistant and my husband is also in the medical field. He has been suffering for over 30 years with debilitating back pain. Due to the progressive pain and refusal by insurance to help, despite everything , he has been unable to see his own patients or work for over a year. He has jumped through every hoop that this company has put him through to try to get a simple noninvasive procedure done on his back called Intracept that could restore his quality of life. For two straight years they have denied him as he has gotten worse by the day. He has done every medication out there, seen physical therapists,alternative med options, chiropractics, acupuncture and massage and he only gets worse. Not to mention the enormous amount of medical bills we have had to pay for copay's, deductibles and non covered services to try to get any relief He has 5 children and can no longer do the fatherly things he loved to do with them. It's a shame to see insurance agencies coming between drs and their patients. He has 4 discs issue and heart problems which both put him out of commission for a major surgery which would also cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, where this procedure would be literally a fraction of the cost and outpatient with minimal to no risk! How on earth does this sound like a company that cares about us as individuals or quality of life. It's even sadder to think that they would rather pay out exorbitant funds for a surgery that could cost him his life and raise all of our premiums even more than the 24 percent we are getting in 2023 then to just do the right thing. This procedure is a last resort for him. We have paid premiums religiously for over 20 years and when we need to utilize the Insurane they would rather try to act like they know better than his doctors and jeopardize his life. They have already taken away his quality of life and his ability to work and provide for his family. I guess they won't be happy til they put him on the operating table and risk 5 children losing their father. What a shame ! My claims are always paid quickly and if I ever have questions, I can submit a question through the website and I get my answers and it's explained why something was done the way it was. I have a Florida Blue PPO plan. In May my doctor requested approval to do a $500 procedure. A week later I got a letter in the mail from Florida Blue with approval number and stating they approved the procedure. Went in to have it done and when my doctor sent in the bill it was denied. Florida Blue said the code was wrong even though the procedure was word for word exact on the bill and on the approval letter. Called Florida Blue and was told they needed a code modified. They called the doctor's office and they sent in a fix. Florida Blue denied the claim again. I no longer trust Florida Blue as I don't feel I can trust their approval process. Now I have to pay for the procedure out of pocket. No wonder so many doctors offices that I call say they don't accept Florida Blue insurance any longer. read more

Only had the choice of going to Walgreens, which also is terrible. filed a complaint saying I was misrepresented when I signed up never heard a response. Charge me more than my old insurance because I was in the silver tier and cover less of all of my bills, including co-pays specialist visits prescriptions things like MRIs. Now they have preemptively canceled my plan because I had to use my policy and paying $4000 in deductible fees because they actually had to honor something that they claimed they would. $23,000 bill I still pay 4000 of and get preemptively canceled letting me know they no longer will provide me with health insurance. I've had a Florida Blue ACA policy for several years now. It's a bronze policy that I pay $1,150.00/month for. I had to go to an urgent care facility for the first time in December, so I went online to see which one was in my plan. I put in my policy number and it told me where I could go without a copay, so I went there. I was charged a $100 co-pay and Florida Blue said that I should have clicked another filter in my website search and it would have told me that that facility wasn't in my plan. I explained that I entered my specific policy number and the Florida Blue website should have automatically filtered out places that weren't in my plan. By now I was speaking to the supervisor and he said that they've had that problem a lot. I told him that I pay $14K a year for this policy and that I've been a fairly long-term Florida Blue client, that I don't shop other companies during open enrollment, and that I just go to the Florida Blue storefront each year and get a policy (all of which is true). He said that he couldn't make an adjustment. It told him that I won't sign up again with Florida Blue. If he cared, he didn't say so. I won't sign up with them again. I've paid well over $100k in premiums to them over the past 10-12 years with only routine claims for doctor's visits. As a business owner myself, I'm shocked that they would lose my business over something as minor as this, especially when their own website mislead me. But I'll be true to my word; I won't buy insurance from them again. I've been loyal to them, but they clearly have no loyalty to me. read more

I have only had this insurance plan for a month and I can't fill 3 out of 4 of my prescriptions because Florida Blue is requiring pre-authorization. I have missed doses on all three medications because of this, without warning or being able to wean. When I called Florida Blue I got transferred to an extension where I sat on hold for over 45 minutes before I hung up. I finally got through today to a very unapologetic, uncaring representative who just said that once my doctors send in the prior authorization it would be another 3-5 business days before my prescriptions might be approved. FL blue is a horrible insurance Co if you have a serious illness, you need a referral to see a specialist even if you have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. A case manager assigned me a new primary which was horrible. Her name was Ana of Doral FL. It was so far and such a long wait. Not even sure why she didn't go with the primary I had given her the names of. She claimed this facility was there preferred facility. It was a big inconvenience for me the customer. To top it off, after the long drive in traffic, they could not even give me the referrals. I swear I think the case worker is undermining my efforts. Really folks? I called in December 2021 because I keep receiving my EOB's in Spanish. I don't speak Spanish. The representative advised I went on line and changed it but I haven't been to their website in years and don't remember my password. They assured me it was fixed and all EOB copies would be sent to me. No EOB's were ever received. Today February 2022 I received an EOB in Spanish once again. In questioning the representative today the inquiry I made was closed out same day. So nothing was done!! The person I spoke to today has a heavy accent and very hard to understand. She was on the regular line and not the Spanish line. According to the representative today my inquiry was closed out same day as I called. Nothing was done!! Now I'm waiting on a Supervisor or above as it's time to get this fixed. I've spoken to a young man who claims he's a manager but he definitely didn't seem to be versed in things a manager should know. I spent 35 1/2 years in this company. I do know what I'm talking about. I ended up calling in again and spoke to Isaac who states he's resolved the issue and will be sending me documentation. Hopefully he's being honest because I'm seriously moving to another insurance company next year after all of this. This is absolutely ridiculous. Florida Blue was a great company many years ago.
