We were finally in a position to update so we started getting estimates from different companies and contractors. Lion Heart Remodel stood out above the rest. Most folks I met with had a lot experience in remodel work but Richard has vision and imagination. From the moment he introduced himself to my wife and I, we felt confident that this was the guy to hire. Never once through this 2.5 month project did I regret that decision. Great communication, asks for feedback through the whole process, and takes changes in stride. We did three new bathrooms, windows, flooring trim, interior and exterior doors, interior paint, banister-replacement-with-pony-wall, and a new deck. The work done here by Lion Heart and his whole crew has been literally life changing for us. For the first time in the 15 years we've lived in this house, we are absolutely in love with our home. We had a few criteria when choosing a place: (1) Cost, (2) Timing and (3) Quality. 1. Cost - Being new to the area, we called 3 top-rated places (based on Yelp) to have someone come by, take measurements and give us a quote. All-Star responded the quickest. They contacted us the same day and we made an appointment for their person to come by the following day. He ended up coming a couple hours earlier which worked out in our favor. Alex took measurements the quickest (using the laser measuring tool) and he was out in 10 min. All-Star Flooring also turned around the quickest estimate - less than 24 hours. The next quickest place took 2 days. The estimate also came in at the lowest end of all the estimates we received. It was around 15% cheaper than next competitor. 2. Timing - We had a piano (2 at that) delivery scheduled within 5 days of receiving the estimate so it was crucial to get the flooring done into the extended bedroom before the arrival of the pianos. All-Star Flooring said they would be able to do it 2 days later and that it would take 5-6 hours to do. The other competitors were booked at least 4 days out and that left too close of a margin to deal with. They did mention that they would do it 3 days later but I told them our piano delivery situation and they made it work. Alex and his worker arrived 7:30 AM on the dot and wrapped up by 11am. 3. Quality - This is where we had to take a leap of faith. It was really based on a lack of negative quality reviews on their yelp page so I thought given everything else, it made sense to go with them. When they were done with the floors, it was as good as the builder's original floor, if not better. To wrap it up, I'm extremely happy that I chose them and while I didn't proceed w/ extending hardwood floors into the upper floor this time, I will be calling them to do that really soon.

When the window manufacturer sent us a window that didn't open the way I expected, DevelPro tracked down a company in Europe that could make a new window and gave me the option of trying to modify what I had or waiting a few months for a new custom order. I opted to have them try and fix the manufacturer's mistake and they did a perfect job of getting me a window that maximizes my opening clearance so I can still move bulky items into the basement. Then in the middle of the chat I was having with them to have someone come out for measurements and an estimate, a live person then hopped on to the chat and told me that I was communicating with AI and that they were WRONG, that these two companies DO NOT DO or WON'T TOUCH Solarium Type Windows. I then tried a third Company who came out, measured and then quoted me an amount that ended up being 3x as much for what I ended up paying! Enter DevelPRO! When other Companies said "No" DevelPRO said Yes! and from start to finish I can not stress enough how refreshing it was to finally have real confidence with a contractor like this! Other companies either wanted us to sign a contract right away or didn't provide design services at all. We chose Bora because they came to our house, made measurements right away, listened to our ideas and created a design without making us sign a contract. It really helped us visualize what we wanted. One thing I also appreciated was the fact that they came professionally dressed in their Bora Construction uniforms. This is not a big detail, but it shows they have pride in what they do. Other general contractors showed up in jeans and a t-shirt. Throughout the project, the project manager at Bora was very communicative and gave us a heads up on how the project was going. When they found a water pipe and HVAC inside the wall we wanted to knockdown, they developed a way to reroute the plumbing and HVAC on the same day and without the ridiculous cost overrun. They basically charged me for just the materials. It's this courtesy that they showed throughout the project. They did such a great job, we asked them to do the same cabinetry and flooring on the powder room. It wasn't in the original estimate and timeline, but they added it to the scope of the project and still kept their delivery date. Wow! The quality is top notch. The engineered vinyl tile looks beautiful and the stacked stone on the fireplace looks absolutely gorgeous. They made expert suggestions like adding more recessed lighting to the dining area and living room, which makes our home so much warmer and brighter. I have pictures of before and after. I'll be posting those if I can. We are pleased with our choice to go with Bora Construction. Oh, one more thing. The price was cheaper than the competitors by more than 10%. I know this for a fact because we gave the same specifications and ideas to two other companies. The other companies suggested similar materials and methods, but charged more.
