I had bought a Groupon to use for a friends birthday party. If you don't know anything about…read moreGroupons let me fill you in, you're supposed to be treated as if you are a full-price paying customer. We rented the party bus so we could go to Galveston, tailgate and cruise around. I paid extra to go to Galveston since it was out of their normal mileage range. Fine. I also specified with the girl doing my reservation that it was a one way trip and our pick up time in Pearland was 11 and drop off in Galveston was 3. We get to Galveston and I tell the driver that we are going to the beach and would be back in about an hour to eat lunch. He proceeds to tell me how he would need to charge me an extra fee for cleaning the vehicle since we would be tracking back sand. I kinda laughed (I mean, they knew we were coming to Galveston, how do you not track back sand. Why was this not discussed previously?) but since it was during the party told him I would discuss this later. When we came back for lunch the driver told me that the outside television was not working and that the shade of the outdoor tables wasn't there. How do you advertise you can tailgate on the party bus if the tv isn't working?! When it came to 3pm I went to sign the paperwork and tip the driver when he tells me that he has to charge an additional hour for his drive back. I pulled up the email from the reservations and showed him where it said drop off Galveston 3pm and told him I had talked to reservations and was insured that I wouldn't be charged additional time for the drive back. He continued to argue with me. The rest of the group decided to wait in the additional cars to try to avoid the tense, awkward situation and not put a damper on the party. I kept telling the driver that I was not signing paperwork saying they could charge an additional hour and he said "fine, we have your credit card information already anyways" A few days later I called the company to express my frustration of the entire experience and make sure they weren't charging me any additional fees. The reservationist apologized saying she was new and that I was correct in all my assumptions and wouldn't not be charged any additional. I didn't make any bigger of a deal about it because I had used the Groupon but had I paid full price I would of questioned why vital aspects of the bus weren't there and why the driver thought that the time to argue with me was in front of the birthday girl. The bus itself other than the outside tv not working was very nice; but I've used other companies before that had equally nice fleets.
