I do not give standing ovations for every play I see, though I generally DO quite enjoy them. I stand when I have been extraordinarily impressed. Both "Front Page" and "Shane" have been such plays for me. (I wish they would perform Front Page again sometime.) I recently attended "Shane". I was very curious how they might take this old favorite and put it on their stage. It was quite different and obviously took a LOT of ingenuity. And that ingenuity significantly improved the play. The set was quite simple and the technique they used for scene changes was brilliant. All the emotion was preserved... and enhanced by techniques one would not expect. For example, fight scenes were dramatically enhanced by the actors being spaced quite far from each other, bringing out each character's individual perspective. "Joey Starett" narrated most of the play... seamlessly. This was a truly awesome experience.

At the end, throw your trash and recyclables in the correct bins and put your glassware in the tubs. It's not too expensive and worth the price. I recommend this experience.

There is a nice entrance/lobby and ample parking since it's attached to an AG school. The theater is quite nice with a good number of seats, but not too large so you can everything perfectly from the back row. They do offer snacks and drinks that you can purchase before the play or during intermission (since drinks/food are not allowed inside, other than water). They have various concerts, tribute bands, musical parody's and other plays throughout the year. I'm excited to come back and hopefully see a concert or two in the near future!

Sometimes I wonder if this is because the kids are around other age groups (it's for grades 4-8) and not just other jr high students. Or maybe part of it is the arts-based curriculum which gives kids some wonderful outlets for their talents. They don't have to pretend the arts aren't cool to fit in with their peers. One thing I've finally learned as a parent is that what may be a great fit for one kid is not for another. However, two of our children, both very different personalities, have gone here and it has been an excellent experience for them. We've had several teachers go out of their way on several occasions and have felt warmly embraced in the community by Principal Rubin and Chris in the front office.
