Factor Drive Time From Flex Movers Office into the Amount of Time you actually need movers. (this is part of your hourly move quote) I hired Flex Movers for a last minute move for a move between units within the same apartment complex. I asked for 2 people for 2 hours and received a quote of $525. The movers arrived and the move completed at the 2 hours mark. The movers assigned were strong and worked quickly. We used my own Uhaul trailer and did not make use of the Toyota Corolla the movers arrived in. However, the clock on hours starts ticking when they leave their own office and ends by adding the transit time after the move to return back to their own office. Thus, I was charged for 40 minutes of drive time in addition to the 2 hours of the actual move. This was not communicated clearly to me at the time of the quote and I had some sticker shock at the end. My $525 2:00 hour move became a $667 2:45 hour move. They did give me a slight discount off the amount due to the communication error. However, even after the discount, I paid almost $100 more than the 2 hour quote to account for their drive time to and from their office. Unethical! They didn't send a big enough truck and because they charge by the hour they are able to pad their bill by having to make multiple trips, which they do not disclose that information to you. They do not do a walk through, they go by how many bedrooms and baths there are to be moved.. Ours was a 3 bedroom, 2 bath and we didn't even take our couch or dining room set. Their truck was packed to the max and my husband had to load up a U-Haul and it was filled to the max. I am going through ACL recovery and we hired these movers to move us so it would take the stress off of us. Instead, my husband had to do the extra moving himself. I called Flex Movers and tried to reason with the owner Bryce. I told him he needed to compensate us for their inability to complete the job they were hired to do. Bryce outright refused and even exaggerated the starting and end time. They were supposed to start at 12:30pm but when we arrived at 12:40pm, they were just backing into the driveway. They finished at 4:12pm as I was on the phone with Bryce when his employee told me they were finished. I have the times on my phone as I texted my contractor when we were arriving. There was not a contract or even a text agreement. They do everything by phone because if they had anything in writing, there would be proof of the agreement and a start time and end time would be documented and signed by the person that hired them. I thought we could agree on three hours which I paid them for but he wanted four hours. The actual time was three hours and 20 minutes, but he charged me for four hours. When I refuse to pay him for the full four hours and gave him the money for three hours, he called the police. I had to pay him the full exaggerated four hours or get arrested for theft services.Any ethical company would have apologized for not bringing the proper equipment to complete the job and agreed to a form of compensation. I would not hire this company if they paid me to move me! Ask them to draw up a contract or sign one that you drew up. They'll give you some spill making it about not being an inconvenience on you. Then read the Google reviews on them and notice that they were readily available last minute. I called them 2 different times as I had to change my move time on one occasion and then my date last minute change on another occasion, and they had all day available. Ask yourself why? Then, look at the 4 star review a note how the customer had to help the mover or they may not have been able to get it done. Relate how I had to help and then my husband had to move 2 u-Haul of stuff that would not fit in their small truck as it's not even a 32ft. Also mentioned in a review is being charged more than the customer thought it should be and the company basically replying, oh, oops. Did we tell you it would probably take about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and it ended up taking 4. We don't know what we're doing when it comes to moving because we can't calculate time correctly so our customer has a true idea of how much the move will cost. As I mentioned to the owner on the phone, if they can't correctly, calculate time and truck size perhaps they should consider reforming the company and doing walk-throughs. read more
