On her birthday, she didn't receive the delivery I had ordered. I phoned the florist and they apologized, said they would add more flowers, and deliver the next day. The next day, still no delivery! Phoned again, they said they would send the delivery guy back again, and said they would give me a refund for my trouble. STILL NO DELIVERY! My friend was in her apartment the whole time, but no delivery came or contacted her. When I phoned again to demand a refund, they became suddenly much less friendly. Told me they had to deduct $10 for the delivery fee -- the delivery that never happened! My friend then WENT DOWN to the florist to ask for the bouquet AND THEY WOULDN'T GIVE IT TO HER! Truly the worst experience I've ever had with a florist.

I was extremely disappointed with the customer service I received from Westmount Florist…read more I ordered an orchid plant online as a gift and even called the store beforehand for a recommendation. The assistant helped me make a decision, and I proceeded with the order. We communicated by email since they needed the recipient's full address and phone number. I promptly provided the information--but never received any confirmation or update to confirm that my order was being processed. It felt like my request had gone into a black hole. The next day, I followed up by phone since I hadn't heard back. I spoke to several people, none of whom could find a record of my order. Eventually, I reached the person who had taken my order, and I re-sent all the delivery details. She assured me that the delivery would be completed that day and that I would receive a confirmation and receipt. To my surprise, she called back less than ten minutes later asking for all the same information again--apparently, my order had been misplaced, and she couldn't even recall what I had purchased. She again promised to send a confirmation email once the order was finalized. Once again, no confirmation arrived. I had to call yet again to follow up, only to be told the delivery had already been completed. When I asked why I hadn't received any confirmation, they realized they had "made a mistake" with my email address. I find that hard to understand, considering they had successfully emailed me earlier to request the delivery details. This was an incredibly frustrating experience from start to finish. I expected much better communication and professionalism from a florist with Westmount's reputation. Lesson learned: don't be fooled by the polished website--what you see online does not reflect the quality of service you actually receive.

Venus really is an all purpose plant and flower shop. Whether it be cut flowers, or potted plants, they've got it all. The staff are patient. Not overly in your face, they will let you browse until you ask for help, but once you've asked they are happy to throw together a bouquet based on your taste and budget. They once humoured a family member who wanted to purchase a single gerbera with some greenery, like it was no big deal, even as she looked at every single gerbera in the fridge, wanting to pick the perfect one. I live nearby, so I've seen that Saturday and Sunday mornings are a parade of flower arrangements leaving the shop, destined to weddings and funerals. Judging from what I can see, I can imagine they have a lot of satisfied customers. During the winter I look forward to the warmer months, when all kinds of different plants and flowers are out on display out front under the awning. The offerings evolve with the seasons, and always brighten my day as I walk by.

The shopping experience is somewhat intimidating: there are no pre-made bouquets, instead all flowers are grouped in buckets, some in a large fridge, some just right next to the door. After a few key questions ("is it for a man or woman? Do you want colours or not? Any specific preference?"), she went about snipping stems here and there. Next thing you know I am presented with an assortment and quoted a price. Is that ok? Sure! I was in a hurry and didn't notice the actual arrangement until it was time to give it, but she did some solid work, she definitely stayed within the price range I gave (including tax!) and that bouquet was as thick as a fist I tell you!
