We were seated and started to look over the menu and wine list. My husband was in between a few bottles of wine, so the waiter brought the bottles over so we could take a look at them. First Course: gnocchetti with Spinach and Ricotta...OMG I have never had gnocchi like this. They just melted in your mouth, so delicious. Tagliatelle Bolognese was also delicious, good thing since we were in Bologna. Secondi: Cutlet with prosciutto and cheese, the plate was put in front of me and it was a huge white blob. I wasn't sure what to think, so I cut into it. The cutlet was so tender, the prosciutto crispy and the melted cheese covering it pulled the whole thing together, and it was fantastic. Braised rabbit with string beans was excellent. The most tender rabbit I have had any where, what a wonderful dish. We were stuffed, so decided against dessert, but we were so happy to have discovered da Pietro because it was an unbelievable dining experience. Definitely give it a try.

That said, basically, just as your host what he's got - it'll pretty much be the standard set of Bolognese specialities. Likewise with the wine - you can pick a bottle, or just ask for "a sangiovese" or some such. Anyhow, the food is impeccable. My favorite currently is the agnolotti - it's got rucula on/in it, and the flavors are phenomenal! Do note that, more so than in other places, you'll need a reservation... (oh, if you're there for lunch, as with most other places, they'll serve you pretty rapidly, with the expectation that you're going to eat, and head out...)

After being sat down my table decided to order the mozzarella bites and our server's choice of white wine to begin with. Our server selected a wine that he had me try before giving me the entire bottle. I appreciated him letting me try the wine and asking what I wanted in the wine before selecting it. Afterwards we received our mozzarella bites that includes mini mozzarella balls, basil, and tomatoes. This was a refreshing appetizer that was a great start to our eating experience. We then placed our order for our main course. I ordered the tagliatelle al ragu bolognese. Once the dish came out the owner of the restaurant asked if I would like parmesan and he sprinkled the perfect amount. This pasta was extremely delicious and I ate every last bite. I plan to order both of these dishes again in the future. Additionally, we did not order a dessert but the owner insisted that we try the tiramisu. Thankfully, the owner gave us two slices that we devoured instantly. Along with the other two dishes, I will definitely order the tiramisu. Tried the broad bean puree and Roman style artichoke side dish as starters. Both were delicious. For mains we had the lasagne Bolognese and tagliatelle Gessetto. Both were excellent. Hubby and I switched mid meal so we each had half of each pasta dish, neither of us could pick a favorite. The lasagne is cut into squares and baked so you have the best crunchy bits all round...what a great idea! I would be here weekly if I lived in the area! Come early or make a reservation to avoid waiting in line
