As soon my son went up to them and said trick or treat they immediately ignored him, gave him and myself the dirtiest look & acted as if he was nonexistent!! Even myself included!! And I noticed it's because he wasn't white like all the others that were interacting with those girls handing out flyers. Before we went up to them it was white parents/kids & the energy was there, soon as myself & my son went up to them it was completely different, after we walked away I turned around & they went back to acting friendly to of course other white kids/parents. I was so upset and couldn't believe young girls at that age could be so rude to another child that is a different color than them. I wanted to confront the parents of those girls but it was so hectic and crowded. Very upsetting and shame on those children & parents as well!!

Leila was very supportive and helped my daughter catch up with the rest of the class. She was very patient and made sure all the girls were doing the moves correctly with good posture which is very important. It's very disorganized and a lot of the children become distracted due to the uneven flow the "lesson" takes... They're given ribbons for a couple minutes, then taken away, given a ball, then taken away, etc... The lil girls want to be girls and have fun. This is not a "school" for anyone under the age of 20.

We were warmly greeted at the door, bought two small glasses of wine for a donation and mingled in the foyer with Zaquia, who also doubles as a yoga teacher at Sculpt Fusion Yoga where I teach. We chatted up some new friends and met some friendly Visionary staff. The performance space is intimate - with chairs set out no larger than six across and only a few rows deep, with the back rows on risers. Performers entered through a curtain at the rear and well-timed lighting in a variety of colors illuminated the performance. The show itself was a modern dance exploration of identity, relationships, connections and misconnections with music that echoed a past Americana that perhaps only existed in our imaginations. I found it visceral, poignant and heartfelt. Chun P. is not really the modern dance type - but he enjoyed it and we're both planning on coming back to Visionary for another show!
