Admission is free, with a box for donations. The visitor center looked very nice and modern inside, even though it was closed due to the pandemic. The cafe looked like a great place to enjoy a cold drink after encircling the park. The sculptures are all connected to one another via many many paths, and there's no wrong order to see them all. I like the layout because it encourages you to forge your own path and move about on your own time. It even fosters a sense of discovery when you find a new path. Every piece of art is wonderfully complimented by its surroundings and have a deep meaning. You could choose to use the park as a photo-op if you'd like (we did a few of our own, it's hard to resist doing that!) or just as an outdoor museum. You really do need at least a couple of hours to fully appreciate everything the premises has to offer! I quite enjoyed this place and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a day art excursion. This was an experience truly unlike anything else I've done.

If you ask me none of those options are all that appealing. With that being said there is hope in Rhinebeck, NY and that hope comes in an Oblong form! (Ok I'm not a comedian) Oblong is the answer to the all too often disconnected book store experiences of the present. This store serves as a sanctuary to those longing for the bookstore of the past ambiance. Tall stacks of books on display with index cards handwritten by the staff strategically placed to provide insight. A friendly staff who goes out of their way to assist you and even remembers you; that's how customer service should be! I recently purchased a book and came back two weeks later for a signing. Upon walking up to get in line a member of the staff recognized me and pinpointed that I was there two weeks prior to purchase to book. Talk about small town charm! Speaking of signings, they often host them as well as meet the author events with Q&A. If you need a book, a place to escape or a time machine to those better days gone past just take a trip to Rhinebeck and visit Oblong. You're welcome.

Just everything under the sun, and they all seem very fairly priced. My mom has randomly asked me if I knew a used bookstore with old vet manuals (like for cows, etc) and I happened to walk by this place a couple days later, so I popped in. I found several OLD (1904-ish) farm vet type books. Upon checking out, I told the owner how thrilled I was to find them, and he recommended I go upstairs, second door, second shelf from the top, closest to the window.... he knows every book in the place! And word is he has another warehouse full of books!! They're only open 11-5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so I plan to go back at 10:59 with snacks and stay the duration. The male tour guide was underwhelming to say the least. He did admit that it was his first tour. I believe for Church's 200th birthday exhibition, a paying customer would've expected the guide to give an overview on the artist and a description of his paintings. All we received was a a person walking the group into a couple rooms. I even tried to question him about one of the paintings. He basically threw the question back at me. -5/20/26: We took an electric car tour throughout the 5 mile narrow hilly estate. Price $40 and totally worth it! Ellen was our tour guide and driver.
