I hired Jolan Jade Photography after reviewing her beautiful online portfolio, which showcased thoughtfully styled newborn portraits, professional posing, and a variety of creative compositions. Unfortunately, the photographs I received were vastly different from the quality and variety advertised. I paid $600 for a gallery consisting largely of repetitive photographs, nearly identical overhead angles, and minimal variation in posing or composition. Many of the images were essentially duplicates with slightly different facial expressions. The difference between her advertised portfolio and the actual work delivered was incredibly disappointing. What made this experience even more frustrating was the lack of professionalism. When I expressed my concerns, rather than acknowledging the significant differences in quality, she attributed the results to my son's age and size, the lighting in my home, and even complained about my nanny. For context, this is my third child and my third experience with professional newborn and childhood photography. I am very familiar with how these sessions work and what to reasonably expect. I have had the same nanny and the same lighting conditions in my home during previous photography sessions without experiencing these issues. Furthermore, my husband, sister, and nanny were all present during the session, and all three commented afterward on how unprofessional they found her conduct. Unfortunately, I wasn't present for the entire session, but hearing the same concerns from three people who witnessed it was incredibly disappointing. I also provided my son's exact age and measurements before booking. If his age, size, or the conditions in my home would significantly limit the photographer's ability to produce work comparable to her advertised portfolio, I believe those concerns should have been communicated beforehand rather than used as explanations afterward. Newborn photographs are irreplaceable memories. These are moments you cannot recreate, and choosing a photographer is an important decision built on trust, professionalism, and the quality of work they advertise. My disappointment goes far beyond simply disliking a few photographs. It is the substantial discrepancy between the work advertised and delivered, the lack of variety and attention to detail, and the overall experience. I strongly encourage other parents to request complete, recent client galleries rather than relying solely on the carefully selected photographs displayed on a website. After three children and three professional photography experiences, this was by far my most disappointing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this photographer.

The hallow steps your boots sound on the century aged wood floor in the foyer should pique the energy of anyone about to model. Indeed, I was welcomed and immediately shown to a chair before several well lit mirrors. Everything was clean and orderly despite equipment being at the ready, light sources, reflectors, etc. Their rig seems top notch, and they edit on industry standard software. Erick shot my session. First, I needed a professional headshot. He took photos with several gradients of natural light vs artificial, and had me change coats and ties twice. Behind the camera, he has the disposition of a third base line coach, but like, the cool hippie dad. He knows when when to hold you back, and just as importantly, when push you to run for home plate. He directed me to positions and engaged me in parallel conversation that brought out genuine happiness, laughter, and poised aplomb. It's extraordinarily clear in my pictures. From the latter, I have the best professional headshot of my life. The former, Tinder. It's a super fun afternoon, and good headshots make good first impressions, make higher in the stack for all sorts of applications, auditions, tons of stuff. And if you're super nice to them, maybe they'll let you buy them a drink at Three Links down the street afterwards! Come and bring a good attitude, and you will walk away happy!
