I found Darkroom Photography just by happenstance when I was searching on the internet for a photographer. When I reached out to Kate I found her to be very professional and had a personality that was inviting. We ended up having family emergencies that forced us to move our scheduled appointment (a couple of times). She was so great about it that it made me feel even more comfortable selecting her to do our photo shoot. A couple of days before the scheduled shoot I realized I needed a makeup artist and hair stylist. Kate to the rescue..and once again she did not disappoint with my last minute request. She was able to find me someone that did both and she was amazing. When we arrived to the location (one from a list that Kate suggested), we were blown away with the decor. On the day of the shoot I was feeling a little nervous thinking my best side was not going to be captured, boy was I wrong!! First she made both my husband and I very comfortable. The fruit and mimosas that she provided helped too. She showed me ways to pose to look very photogenic and enhance my best features. Let's face it ladies, who doesn't want that! We literally searched the entire United States for someone who would be worthy of such a daring thing for us. Kate was exceptional. We are not comfortable in front of the camera but she helped is come out of our shell. Kate was professional from the first contact all the way through. But more than that, she felt like a friend by half way through. The intimacy here requires that something extra and Kate brings it. The whole experience was fun, safe, productive, sexy... everything it should be and more. She let us be creative and explore our own ideas while adding her own creative flair. I decided to get some erotic photos taken for my husband for Christmas, but I wanted more than the standard dime-a-dozen boudoir photographs. I contacted Kate and let her know exactly what I was looking for (quite a bit of playfulness, and considerably more erotic than just a standard session!) Well Kate more than delivered! She showed up on photo day with champagne and snacks (you do get hungry during a shoot like this) and immediately got down to business. However, it seemed like we were simply longtime friends that were having fun. One great thing about Kate's sessions are that they are 4 hours long, so nobody is rushed and you have plenty of time for wardrobe changes and scene changes. I've already recommended Darkroom Photography to several friends that want to do similar sessions. Kate was wonderful. I was interested in getting photos taken for a wedding gift for my fiance, but I was not as interested in the cutesy cutesy boudoir photos like I've seen elsewhere. Kate offers a very mature and fun approach to get people outside of the typical comfort zones/embrace one's sexuality that we may normally hide/tame. A sitting with Kate is not your typical photo sitting. While the subject matter is obviously not what you'll find at your local studio, it is so much more than a boudoir photo shoot. It's a documentation of your relationship as a couple and tells a love story like nothing else can. Kate is AMAZING to work with! She is very professional and made us feel extremely comfortable. We were super nervous when we started, but by the end of our session, we were friends! Haha.
