I was referred to Dana by a friend and very hesitant because I have very thick curly hair and have had some poor experiences in the past. I am so happy I took a chance on Dana. I started to build confidence in Dana before I even entered the building just based on the instructions Dana gives her curly guests (come in with no product, allowing hair to have dried naturally that day, etc). The first thing she did when I entered the salon was ask me my hair story - I could tell this person truly cared. She listened attentively, and we made a plan together. I was happy after my first cut, but over the next year and a half I would learn that Dana continues to improve, getting to know my hair over time so each cut is somehow even better than the last, not to mention the amount of professional development that she participates in to continue to up her skill. Dana has also educated me on how to style and care for my curls - things I was never taught in 37 years that have been game changers. Dana is on a mission to help people with textured hair feel proud about their natural hair, and that curls are beautiful. I have been going to Dana for over a decade to have my hair done. She is top notch! I have followed her through moves she's made personally and professionally to be able to utilize her services, since she is the only stylist to 100% never let me down. A year ago, I started seeing other stylists within Flaunt so I wasn't just hogging Dana all to myself (hahaha!). I've seen two other stylists there, and soon I will also see a third as well. There is not one who's ever made me feel anything but positively radiant leaving Flaunt. The thing about many salons I have noticed in the past is this weird (b)itchy cattiness. I've felt less than, and like I'm just enough for some of the places. I have never felt that at Flaunt, and Dana and her team have this incredible uplifting aura about them. They are everything you want when at the salon, and I'm so very grateful. Dana refused me service because I had a bad experience at her friends salon. Her words exactly are "Hey Dara I totally agree that some corrections were needed with the colour you got! It does happen some times and it's really unfortunate for you and for the stylist! I'm so sorry that happened I did hear about Your difficulties with the salon and the reviews I saw are concerning! I don't feel comfortable doing your hair as I do feel concerned that if you aren't satisfied with my work it would mean an unfavourable review. I really appreciate you reaching out and wish you the best on your curl journey!" Dana has shown her incompetence before we even met. She's scared of a bad review. I own my own business and make things right whenever possible. This behaviour is deplorable. Disgusting. read more

My curl/color free journey began about 5 years ago after many years of straightening and colouring. I took my time and visited 4 curl specialists from established, highly reviewed individuals in that time. Never quite satisfied I chalked it up to it being a process I had to be patient with. From the second walked Into Dana's salon I felt cared for. We had a discussion about what I was after and formed an immediate and long term plan. She explained every step along the way. I felt safe in her care and I left feeling good. I have been going to Dana for almost 10 years because she has a gift with hair. When she became a curly hair specialist my daughter with coily hair began seeing her too! It is always a pleasant experience full of great conversation, lots of laughs, and the perfect hairstyle for me. Dana is a curl magician. Not only is she exceptional at her craft, but she also runs an amazingly welcoming salon. My daughter has learned to LOVE her curls because Dana is so good at what she does.
