We've already had some great progress with him too! It's crazy how only a little effort has resulted in great results so far! I love that Lydia does reward based training. So many trainers we looked into promoted shock collars and more "fear based" training, so this has been great! You can really tell that she loves what she does and knows what she is talking about. If something isn't quite "clicking" for Enzo she always has a slightly different alternative for him that does work! We adopted Pippin from a Wags and Walks, who had taken him in from a terrible hoarding situation. Pippin was neglected, malnourished, infected and so paralyzed with fear and anxiety that he couldn't function in a home environment. He also became maladapted and resource-guarded one parent against other family members in the house. He was terrified of passing cars, too scared to go to the bathroom outside, and was not able to engage with the outside environment. Instead he would have acute urine and bowel incontinence in the house with the slightest noise or provocation. We had visits with two different trainers and the best advice we got was to send him to a board-and-train program with Nikki. Nikki has a soft spot for neglected and abused dogs. In 2 weeks, she earned his trust and built his confidence by having him face and overcome his fears, including walking near people, entering a store or visiting a park. She videotaped and made highlights videos of each day of training so that we could see what was going on day-to-day and also so we could observe and learn strategies to make him successful. After two weeks of in-house training, he emerged as a vastly transformed dog, and we were equipped to help him progress further . He was also able to follow a range of commands (e.g. "sit", "down", "crate", "break", "place"). Now he is able to interact and thrive in his new home and outside environment, and has turned into a very happy and playful dog. He still has residual "stranger danger", but that continues to improve. In sum, we would highly recommend Nikki, and are grateful to her for enabling Pippin to have the life of a happy dog.

So we drove the 50 minutes with excitement and high hopes. This "club" is run on a volunteer basis so getting a hold of anyone is impossible. Emails are iffy even though they claim to have sent them, and I did check spam. At the training there were 3 instructors; only one was actually good. The main instructor spoke so low and quietly you couldn't hear her half the time . One participant , who was an older lady, had to tell her to speak up because she couldn't hear her but it didn't help. Then there was the blond hair lady who, for whatever reason, decided she had a problem with me. I arrived on time, barely spoke in class, took their instructions, and did my best with implementing those instructions on my puppy. Now here's the issue I had with this person. My positive reinforcement word for my puppy was "good girl" and I would bend down and say that to her every time she hit her training and give her a treat. This woman, I do not know her name or I would gladly put it here, came up on me, I mean very close to my face, and proceeded to say that I'm not saying my positive reinforcement word and did so rudely and with attitude. When I told her yes I'm saying it she looked at me and said, again rudely, "well I'm not hearing it." Hmm I didn't know I had to shout "good girl" for the entire class to hear. Since my dog reaches just above my ankles and when I bend down to praise her I figure she's the only one that needs to hear " good girl" and not the entire class. This instructor, I use that word lightly, was lucky that day. I took her rudeness and attitude and didn't call her on it. I should have but I figured I'd write this review instead She is rude, had attitude and wasn't much of an instructor. We did not return to class and have opted to put our pup in training at another facility. This woman needs to find something else to do. I will say this, there was one instructor, wish I knew her name and her information, who was great. She knew how to speak to people, give you advise without being rude. She would come to you and try to help you do a command while the other two would talk about their day. This instructor was a tall, thin older woman with gray hair. If she trains somewhere other than here I would gladly take my pup to. My advise is to find another training facility that is not run by volunteers and one that will actually help you in all aspects of training. This place is horrible!!!
