Located at the corner of Albemarle Road and Argyle Road just south of Parade Ground, this private…read moremansion in Ditmas park has perhaps the most amazing Halloween display I've ever seen. First, the house itself is just beautiful: Victorian style, with a pool and what looks like a full bar in the "shed" in the backyard. The house is owned by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire and his wife [1]. Skeletons emerge from the ground among gravestones in the bushes by the front lawn. The wrap-around porch is chock-full of real-size animatronic figures such as haunted clowns, ghosts, zombie children, a giant werewolf and 3 homicidal piggies. A dozen skeletons with beaming red eyes climb the exterior of the house; giant spiders take over the fence. A butcher with a massive mallet and a circular saw for hands, and a possessed dog that leaps out of a doghouse, alongside projections of ghosts on the windows. Only thing, I feel bad for their front lawn that gets literally butchered by all the people walking on it. Apart from that, this house is awesome! ------------------------ [1] You can read more about it here: https://gothamist.com/arts-entertainment/brooklyn-halloween-house-ditmas-park-2021-photos And here https://nypost.com/article/best-scary-halloween-decorations-nyc/?utm_content=brooklyn-halloween-house-ditmas-park&utm_source=secretnyc&utm_medium=post&utm_term=cta1

"It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day…read morefor a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?" I have taken to dubbing Windsor Terrace, bordered by Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery and split in two by the Prospect Expressway, "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" for two reasons: 1. I've repeatedly been involved in conversations that go something like this: Q: Where do you live? A: Brooklyn Q: Which neighborhood? A: Windsor Terrace Q: No, which neighborhood? A: (with frustration) Windsor Terrace These dialogues tend to remind me of "Who's on First?," and it doesn't surprise me in the least that Windsor Terrace was not (until now) on the Yelp map. 2. Park Slope should not be taking all the flak for containing the most Maclarens / Baby Bjorns per square foot of sidewalk. After all, it was the Double Windsor on Prospect Park West that lead the pack in instituting a stroller ban after 5 p.m. (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/brooklyn/babies_bounced_after_at_windsor_NV2B1Yw7GlvFXy1wdY6rVO). The incidents leading to the stroller ban illustrate that, for the most part, the childless and those with child (or broods) who call this neighborhood home "blend but do not mix." Perhaps the most famous resident of Windsor Terrace was Isaac Asimov, who is believed to have written "Nightfall" in his family home here in 1941. In addition to its human denizens, Windsor Terrace boasts a large population of canine counterparts and perhaps the largest feral cat population in the borough. In addition to dozens of schools and rowhouses, Windsor Terrace also contains a strip of restaurants and local businesses on Prospect Park West that resembles a collegetown, the best of which are Terrace Bagels, Windsor Wines, DUB Pies, Krupa Grocery, and Le P'tit Paris. "It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood, A neighborly day for a beauty. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?..."

We prefer to stay in Brooklyn (my favorite city in the world) and live like a local for a few days, choosing a rental apartment over staying in a hotel. I like to explore different neighborhoods and the culture each one offers, as every one is distinct in their own right. This year we choose Windsor Terrace, a more residential and somewhat suburban neighborhood compared to ones in the past. We drove to Brooklyn instead of taking the train so the ample street parking was a key factor in our decision. Like mentioned before this neighborhood felt a little more suburban and featured a variety of home styles. While I didn't see any genuine brownstowns there were some with the same styling. Many of the homes had driveways and/or garages. The neighborhood was flanked by a highway on one side and the historic Greenwood cemetery on the other. The subway accessibility was not as saturated as in other neighborhoods so we opted to walk and drive. There were several small parks within walking distance that featured nice playgrounds for smaller children but limited green space. Overall it was much quieter and you almost forgot the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn was only a few blocks away. For me personally as much as I appreciated the safety and ease of parking I prefer someplace more upbeat and lively. We had to drive or walk a good 20-30 minutes to get to an area that had multiple retail and dining choices. In our immediate 5 block radius there was only a café, a pizza joint, and an ice cream place. The residents were all very nice and Sat and Sunday had "stoop sales" where everything was free. It was relaxing to walk around and check out everyone's items that were up for grabs. We enjoyed ice cream from Kathy's and sat in the park. Overall a nice visit, one that I would consider again if I was driving.

They picked up the phone the first time I called but then ignored several messages and a text. Book It.com had to contact them because they were hard to work with. I'm frustrated because they asked me to cancel my booking so someone else could take my booking, which I did, but they have not refunded my money. It would be appreciated if they would communicate why this is so complicated for them. I just hope for a little compassion and help.

However, I bought my house here over 40 years ago, raised a family, and have been very happy. Prospect Lefferts Gardens is a beautiful Brooklyn brownstone neighborhood with three designated Historic Districts [the main Prospect-Lefferts Gardens Historic District, designated in 1979 and two smaller ones, designated fairly recently-Ocean on the Park and Chester Court. About 2/3rds of te main Historic District is Lefferts Manor, which has single-family deed covenants (dating back to 1893) and zoning (R2). Prospect Lefferts Gardens has always been a middle class neighborhood. It defied strong efforts to "block bust" it in the early '60s and emerged at what IMO (and that of many others) as perhaps the most successfully integrated neighborhood in NYC. It never really deteriorated like many other historic brownstone neighborhoods and thus never needed to be "gentrified" however in recent years manhy middle class people have been moving into local apartment buildings, in addition to the historic one and two-family houses, which some have likened to gentrification. This HAS increased the customer base for more upscale businesses than could have been supported by the relatively small numbers of people living in the historic houses.

Not to mention, Moshood is still standing strong! For those of you who don't know, Moshood is a Nigerian designer that's been around for ages..he designs African apparel and accessories for Men and Women. The chicken and waffle was nicely seasoned, waffle was fluffy, syrup was rich and not too sweet. We sampled a delicious bowl consisting of their black rice (so good) pickled cabbage, crispy red cabbage, salad, plantains and shredded pork. An array of delicious and fresh flavors. Ans the finisher, red snapper pizza, on a plantain crust! Very different answers I'm here for it. A little greasy but good flavor, I'd live to try the other pizza options. Ciao Bella (Italian) = "Hello/Goodbye, Beautiful" in English. Storefront isn't too big and the indoor space is on the smaller side. Nevertheless, the space size doesn't hurt the ambiance + relaxing vibes at the coffee shop. Upon arrival, the funky interior design gives off a vintage yet stylish sense. I see that people are sitting on the sofa & bar stools while drinking coffee and working on their laptops. Besides the indoor seating, there's an outdoor seating area both with red scaffold and ones out in the open with the sun beating down on people's back. Noise level wise is moderately quiet with the music playing in the background. What catches my attention the most are: 1) the glossy wooden guitar hanging on the wall as decorations & 2) a green felt chair with gold designs on the fabric material right next to the couch. I would love to have a comfy chair like that in my living room too. Super quick service from super respectful, friendly and helpful staff. I actually like having more intimate events like this at coffee shops because you get to have longer conversations and catch up with other Yelpers. Would like to see more workshop-related events in the future as well. I have stayed for the entire 3 hours for Ciao Bella, but you don't have to if you're in a rush. We're free to just grab a coffee and go or can stay for an hour or two and then leave on our own. No judgment and very chill vibes indeed.
