They have a speakeasy in the back with a cool bar with tons of spirits. The vibes are high in general. They didn't speak English but we made it work

If you love a good speakeasy, there's a perfect one in Strasbourg…read more On the Rue des Aveugles (blind man's street), Aedean Place has two restaurants. Slip on into the delicious-smelling pizzeria, wave hello to the bartender as you're walking, and go on through the double silver doors in the back. Once there, you're in a small hallway. Which door leads to the speakeasy? It's hidden, and takes a special trick to open the swinging panel into the next room. Once you've got it, duck into the small, velvet-lined door into a true speakeasy, with a prohibition-era throwback feel. No pictures are allowed, so my description will have to suffice, but imagine high ceilings, chandeliers, and velvet-lined barstools. A friendly cocktail waitress will bring you a menu, which gives a cheeky nod to other taboo indulgences by way of including the Marquis de Sade. I had an Old Fashioned (what else would one order in a speakeasy?) made with Bulleit Bourbon. If that's not your favorite, there are a number of other bourbon whiskies on the menu to try. We sat, sipped, and spoke easily for a spell before heading out. All in all, a great way to cap off the evening!

My favorite in Strasbourg. Everything on the menu is based on cheese. Many people were ordering…read moreFondue, but I ordered Raclette. They served it in the classic style with potatoes, charcuterie, pickles and vegetables. Everything was authentic. This is an extraordinary restaurant and was thoroughly enjoyable. I looked at their cheeses on the way out, and they were all of the best quality. Staff is busy, but mostly helpful.

Had to try some fondue is Strasbourg so we made a reservation at La Cloche. Arrive right on time…read moreand were immediately seated. We struggled to order because we went to have fondue and there were so many other things we wanted. But we finally decided on the regular fondue. Warning, if you are allergic to or don't like fondue with garlic, it has it. We had to return it. No where on the description of any of the fondues do they say garlic and they are pretty descriptive on each. There was no problem. Just hated to ask. The bread they served for the fondue was not really good. The pieces seemed to have been toasted they were not just stale(as they should be) they were hard as rocks. I thought the fondue itself was pretty good. Yes, I have had better, but the experience was worth it. We sat next to a table that had the Raclette and I was truly jealous. Next time it would be Raclette. Service was great. Loved the looks of the restaurant. They have the world's biggest cheese dome! Recommend making a reservation in advance. They place packs up with both tourists and locals.
