Here's what we ordered: - Whole Branzino (4.75/5): very well executed, fresh, filleted at the table side. Very good! - GERÖSTETE STEINPILZE (4.5/5): (Mushroom pasta seasonal special): Scrumptious! Excellent sauce, fresh ingredients including mushrooms. - green salad (4/5): Generous portion, fresh ingredients including, simple but tasty dressing. - sautéed vegetables (4.25/5): Better than I expect. It is not near to where I live but I had a friend visiting from Sweden whom I know loves fish & seafood (as I do too) and on free theatre night in Vienna, we were going to a theatre laboratory performance just five minutes away from this eating spot. We are glad we made reservations here (and reservations are a must on weekends.) For appetizers we chose calamari from Patagonia and fried Ährenfisch. Both came with tasty dipping sauces and we shared these. A generous and varied bread basket was also served which we ate with the high-quality olive oil on the table. Main courses included baked scallops on truffle mash potatoes and a Frutti di Mare sampler served on black risotto (flavored by Tintenfisch which is common in Croatia and Austria.) Everything was delicious. Frizzante and Cremant accompanied the food courses. Service was efficient and we were in time for our theatre performance. Takan's is a popular neighborhood fish & seafood eatery. It is not cheap by Viennese standards (by Europe and American prices it is probably good value for the quality of the offerings) so it is not a place I will become a regular. And it is not easy to find as it is well off of any tourist route in Vienna .... which the locals & regulars like even more!

The place was recommended to us by a drunk local while we were eating lunch across the city, much o he anger of that restaurant owner so my brother and I went for dinner. Atmosphere: By the Danube in a quite family neighbourhood, lots of seating, tiered so many with a river view. Crowd seems to be families and groups of locals in their late 20s to late 30s. Very relaxing and chill Food: most people seem to order the ribs, note these are grilled ribs not "American BBQ ribs". I had them they were huge and amazing. A nice dry rub, grilled ( not smoked), but they are served with a side of BBQ. Other then that they have Croatian fish, various meats, and some vienneae specials. My brother got the gulash, it was laced with paprika which he though was better then the other gulashes he had in Vienna. Drinks: a number of austrian beers on tap, and a decent wine selection. I had a lemonade, too much ice in it, and not as lemony as I normally like, but it wasn't enough to knock a star off expecially when there are so many negative reviews on this place that aren't even for this places current menu. Long to short, I'm glad I came here before looking at Yelp, and it's the only place a local adimantly recommended during our 5 days in Vienna. That says something, check it out.

Simplicity and quality are the hallmarks here. I have heard of a handful of other places of this calibre, but compared to the vast majority of greasy, low-quality, cheap, and disgusting döner options in the town, Diwan shines. You need to check this place out if you think all kebab is the same. Place is tiny, so don't expect a seat (only 3 tables available), but this food is "to go" friendly.
