Flagship Biking Tours was a great experience - we did the bike tour into the countryside with Skip (excellent tour guide). This specific tour started in the city center and then moved to the countryside for a stop at a local farm with cheese and farm animals. Recommendation: stick to regular bikes and skip the e-bike option. The e bikes are expensive and are a bit of a hassle to keep turning back on after each stop. Bike ride was about 12 miles but very flat, so beginners will be fine. Flagship was very accommodating and due to an issue with our booking, was able to offer either a free boat tour or partial refund. Kind people, consider supporting the business! read more

How it started: friends "purchased" tickets to the Anne Frank House Museum and well, I'm sure she was scammed because we showed up and surprise!!! We didn't go into the museum. Frustrated, I was trying to figure out what we could do since the Haus was a bust. Lo and behold, a boat from Flagship was moored right next to us ready to cast off. Asked if they had room for four and anchors aweigh! I wish I could remember our crews name but they were awesome! Skipper kept us safe during our tour and our guide from Brazil, living in Amsterdam, was super knowledgeable! We even had a local on board with her friend. He mentioned she can fact check him so midway through our cruise, I asked how he was doing and she said, "absolutely great!" If you're visiting Amsterdam, you're going to walk ....or bike, all over! This is the perfect way to end a day of touring Amsterdam. The tour guides are super fun and they make the experience the right kind of touristy. As you slowly move through the water, the shared history will capture your mind, the architecture is sure to fascinate you, and you'll be regaled by current stories... Such as there are more bicycles per capita, in Amsterdam than almost anywhere else in the world. Also, apparently it's a thing that when someone doesn't want their bike, they throw it in the canal, so the canal is literally cluttered with bicycles and a lot of other things lol The architecture on the buildings is breathtaking and the history behind the size of the windows, the color of the buildings and so much more is fascinating. I would share that with you, but if you plan on going, I really don't wanna ruin that for you. I will say that when looking through my pictures if you notice the one building that's all black, that is known as the Rolling Stones house. Not the band, but the magazine... However, there's a lot of history that has walked in and out of that building. The cruise is worth it and you'll enjoy getting off of your feet for an hour. This was a last minute decision to take the tour at night. Hard to find, no signs whatsoever. Ended up at another boat tour, kitty corner from this tour. The gentleman was kind enough to explain how to find them(by looking for their orange vests). It was quite a nice boat & tour guides were fine. Mix of people onboard. When my group and I got on the boat, the captain immediately sat us down in the back and scolded us for being students and booking the option with drinks. He gave us a "warning" before anyone even spoke, ensured we would not speak during the tour, and ruined the experience for all of us. He has a problem if you are looking to have a good time, and if you are in a larger group he doesn't understand the concept of splitting up which would solve his irrational fear of fun. We had a great canal cruise with Flagship on our Amsterdam trip! We did the cheese and unlimited wine tour which was very affordable - about 25 euros and a great bang for your buck. The tour itself was really relaxing, we did a sunset cruise where we went through canals and got to sightsee and our tour guides provided a lot of fun facts as well. The only downside was that it was really crowded and almost overbooked - our boat was filled to the brim so it was hard to move around, but great nonetheless! read more

I booked the first canal tour of the day (at 10am) with Flagship Tours from Central Station because I had an afternoon flight from Schiphol. The night before the tour, they texted me that the boat had broken down and I could either do a 10am tour from the Anne Frank House (which was considerably further from my hotel) or a 10:30am tour from Central Station. It was a tight fit with my schedule, but I reluctantly chose the Anne Frank House. At the time of the tour, the boat and personnel were nowhere to be seen. Finally, a university-aged employee showed and informed my family and I that there was no 10am tour from the Anne Frank House, there was never a 10am tour, and she was sorry but all we could do was wait for 10:30am or ask for a refund at the nearby office. At the office, the employee processed our refund but was completely unsympathetic. This tour company doubly wronged us. If they had informed us that there was no 10:00am tour anywhere, we could have booked a tour with a different provider. And by directing us to the Anne Frank House, they ensured that we couldn't attempt a 10:30am tour from Central Station (which we maybe could've squeezed in). We were thus unable to do a canal tour of Amsterdam. I am devastated: we are Americans for whom coming to Europe is time-consuming, expensive, and consequently infrequent. Through Flagship Tour's dishonesty and dishonorable behavior, we were deprived of the canal tour opportunity. Their refund was a plainly inadequate remedy. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

Okke and Emilia are both quite humorous and make a great tour team. The boat ride is open air and they have umbrellas for changing weather. On a sunny morning, which I feel is the slowest time, and the waterways are less crowded, is the best time to tour. They have beverages for purchase onboard. It is nice to sip on a refreshing drink while touring the canals. Both guides told some personal facts about the canals and buildings along the canal banks. The tour is suitable for little ones as well as seniors. The boat was easy to get in and out of, and the bench seating makes every seat a good seat. read more

I was lucky enough to attend the hour-long unlimited wine and cheese canal tour hosted by Flagship. I was uncertain what to expect on this, but was BLOWN AWAY by the experience from start to finish. The boat was crowded, more so than anticipated, but there was still a decent amount of room for everyone to have a seat and space to breathe, so I appreciated very much that they cap the number of people who can come. The day I took the tour was POURING out and really gray, but it was still an absolutely beautiful experience, and the covered boat was warm and kept us all completely dry. Jenna and Fran led the tour and walked us through all of the ins and outs of being on the boat - and promised that unlimited wine and cheese meant exactly that despite the fact that the boat was crowded. They took turns sharing the history and facts about Amsterdam while the other did the rounds refilling wine glasses and getting more cheese. I am 99.8% positive I ate my bodyweight in the two types of Dutch cheeses they provided (and obviously drank my bodyweight in Sauv Blanc - thank god the tour was only an hour!). I was also really impressed because each 2 people (in a group, you weren't partnered with a stranger) got their own board of cheese - I had imagined a giant shared platter in the middle of a table, but this was a really nice touch! The wine was also solid - they had a few types of white, rose, and Merlot, as well as Heineken and sodas for those who weren't drinking. They gave a lot of fun stories as well as history of what we were seeing as we toured the canal, inserting a ton of humor into the facts they provided to all of us on the boat. I honestly could have used another half hour of just hearing the stories and learning more about Amsterdam through Fran and Jenna - it was one of the highlights of my time in Amsterdam and I would HIGHLY recommend and would do this again in a heartbeat! Excellent way to see beautiful Amsterdam. Cruise through the canals and learn about the homes, architecture, the reason why the canal is dredged for bikes each year, and of course, the history. The amount of knowledge given out by the guide was second to none. Did you know the homes in that area are built at a 2 degree angle? You will have to take the tour! The two person staff on the boat was knowledgeable and fun. We had the option of ordering alcoholic beverages and/or soft drinks while we drove under and around all the bridges. I was really impressed with the level of detail provided by both of your guides, Tamsin & Mariana, who looked like she was taking a break, from being a high fashion runway model, including answering difficult questions from passengers. The cheeses were very nice, as well as the beverages. I learned so much more about the history of The Netherlands, why people refer to the area as Holland, why the buildings lean forward, as well as side-to-side, as well as about window height differences and the meaning behind having stairs to your home entrance. The reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp were flawless, and plentiful. Unfortunately I had a mediocre experience with this company. I think it's really just a hit or miss who you get for your tour guides, as mine were two women that I felt just didn't know much history or fun facts about Amsterdam. It wasn't very entertaining. They also weren't very good at steering, we did hit the wall at one point, and a couple other close calls. The sites were great though, just sitting on the boat and seeing the beautiful buildings in a different perspective. The whole tour was decently priced and did last the full hour. I would not recommend this company though, and wish I would have gone with "Those Dam Boat Guys" instead, that was recommended by Rick Steves. read more

I had a super great time on this tour! Initially I was a bit concerned because our original boat had a mechanical issue so we had to wait for a new one and I thought it was going to take a while, however, flagship has a boat running every 20 minutes so we were underway in less than a half hour after our departure time even with the initial issue. Christophe, our skipper did not address the group much, but also had zero bumps or issues throughout the cruise which is all that we really needed from him anyways. Rob, our host, was very friendly and vivacious and offered entertaining and informative stories about Amsterdam. I booked the one hour salonboat with cheese and wine, The cheese was also quite plentiful in portion and the wine was good as well! They misrepresented the trip. Their advertisement shows a covered boat. It was completely uncovered. We specifically asked and we were told that if it started raining they would raise a cover. There was no such cover. Their website said the boat was warm and snugly. Wrong. It rained most of the trip. They handed out umbrellas, which of course, with 25 people on board, meant we couldn't see very much. No heaters, of course. The guy who spoke during the trip said in advance that his primary job was going to be serving drinks if people want to drink. Which of course interrupted his talking. We do not recommend this company. Find someone else, anyone else. We felt scammed. read more

Went on the light show river tour at 4:45 today. We didn't leave the dock until 5, there were a lot of boats but so so many people waiting in an endlessly long line. As soon as we boarded the boat we already had pretty bad seats, sitting right next to the table serving as the bar. Throughout the entire tour the hostesses, not their fault-just based off layout, were knocking up against us. The tour showcased a lot of Amsterdam water art which was cool but the view from the boat wasn't very good and the captain and hostesses interpretation of the art was...interesting. For example we saw some DNA made of lights and the hostess interpreted it as an alien invasion, or we saw a really cool looking ball of yarn that had the illusion of going underwater and tying up a crane, she interpreted it as a giant in the woods was playing with it. Seemed more like satire to me, not a must do in Amsterdam. read more

My Fiance and I did the 8:00pm night tour in late May. It was light out the entire time and the sun was setting as we arrived back. Perfect timing in our opinion because you could still see everything! This is something to consider, as we had originally thought we would do the night tour, but are glad we opted for this so we could see the different sights. There were two options at this time - one covered boat, one uncovered. The tour provided unlimited cheese and wine (the pours did not disappoint!) and an amazing guided tour from a local through the canals. In total, the ride was a little over an hour Our guide was awesome - her name was Margarita. We were so glad we did this earlier on in our trip because it helped provide a lot of insight into the different areas of Amsterdam. We had Daan (captain studying to be a doctor), Charly & Noa on our tour. All were friendly. We were staying in the area near the Anne Frank house and this was easy to get to. Easy to get on a tour as well. Drinks are not included but I like that as you pay for what you use. I like that there were only about 20 people on our boat. We learned a few things.
