I had the opportunity to experience both the canal tour and the stroopwafel-making workshop, and I thoroughly enjoyed them both! I had also booked the food tour, but unfortunately, it was canceled. I wish I had been notified in advance rather than finding out upon arrival, but they apologized, explained the situation, and assured me that I would receive a refund, which I believe I did. Stroopwafel-Making Workshop I absolutely loved this workshop, it was so much fun! Sofia was a wonderful instructor who made the entire experience feel welcoming, relaxed, and enjoyable. I first noticed the workshop the day before because the store window was so beautiful. I wondered what it was all about, and by complete coincidence, Sofia was the person who pointed me in the right direction and showed me how to book it. I'm so glad she did because I ended up having such a fantastic time! The best part was getting to make my own stroopwafel and decorate it however I wanted, with as many toppings and decorations as I liked. It was such a fun and unique experience, and I'm so happy I decided to give it a try. Canal Tour Daniel and Summer were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. Daniel, in particular, went above and beyond by happily answering our questions and even getting us drinks whenever we needed them. Their hospitality added so much to the experience. The boat itself was beautiful, and the canal tour was a relaxing and memorable way to experience Amsterdam. Seeing the city from the water offered a completely different perspective and made the tour feel especially memorable. I also thought it was really smart to decorate the boat with flowers. They created such a unique and beautiful backdrop for photos, and if you prefer not to have them in your pictures, they're very easy to avoid. My only small suggestion would be to be mindful of where you sit. I somehow ended up getting quite wet all down the back of my legs! I think I was simply unlucky, since no one else seemed to have the same issue, but it's something worth keeping in mind. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and Daniel and Summer made it even more enjoyable! Booking a last‑minute tour online turned out to be more confusing than expected. Flagship lists a whole menu of overlapping options -- beer, wine, beer‑and‑wine, full bar, cheese or no cheese -- all at different prices, all departing at the exact same time from the exact same dock. We had the tour that started near the Rijksmuseum, which made getting there straightforward despite the confusing booking process. We chose the basic tour; the couple ahead of us booked the Heineken version, which supposedly included multiple complimentary beers. Yet once onboard, everyone was offered the same single complimentary drink, and anything beyond that was charged. It's hard not to wonder why the pricing tiers exist when the onboard experience doesn't seem to match them. Our captain, Max from Amsterdam, was friendly and clearly knew his way around the canals, but he was repeatedly overruled by the guide, Roger, who insisted on turning the boat around whenever Max tried to take us toward certain areas. Roger's guiding style leaned more toward casual chatter and personal anecdotes than actual commentary on the city. Over the course of an hour, only a small handful of buildings or landmarks were mentioned, leaving long stretches of the ride feeling more like background conversation than a guided tour. At the end, Roger joked about the tip jar being a "traditional Dutch tip jar" -- the kind where you leave what you think the tour was worth, and if you weren't satisfied, you take out what you think you're owed. It was meant as humor, but it landed a little too accurately; we laughed with the group next to us that there wasn't nearly enough in the jar for all of us to reclaim what we felt we were owed due to what the tour lacked. All in all, it was a pleasant boat ride and a nice way to see Amsterdam from the water. But if you're expecting a genuinely informative, structured canal tour, this isn't the company -- or at least not the guide -- to rely on. read more

Flagship Biking Tours was a great experience - we did the bike tour into the countryside with Skip (excellent tour guide). This specific tour started in the city center and then moved to the countryside for a stop at a local farm with cheese and farm animals. Recommendation: stick to regular bikes and skip the e-bike option. The e bikes are expensive and are a bit of a hassle to keep turning back on after each stop. Bike ride was about 12 miles but very flat, so beginners will be fine. Flagship was very accommodating and due to an issue with our booking, was able to offer either a free boat tour or partial refund. Kind people, consider supporting the business! read more

How it started: friends "purchased" tickets to the Anne Frank House Museum and well, I'm sure she was scammed because we showed up and surprise!!! We didn't go into the museum. I was so exciting book a canal cruise and we waited a few days when in Amsterdam do book one. After seeing the cute boats Flagship had I chose this company. I was so disappointed when it was time to board the boat to find we were on an enclosed vessel. To make matters worse we were first to board and were seated in a very small booth with another couple. Our table had plates of cheese to be handed out to passengers who had purchased a wine and cheese experience. When I made our reservation no where was it stated this was part of our cruise. So here we are breathing over plates of cheese that weren't for us. To make things worse we were seated next to the bathroom which kept getting used over the hour. Because it was an enclosed boat, I could only see if I cranked my neck to the left. Forget seeing anything out the opposite of the boat other than car tires from the cars parked along the canal. The guides were fine. I just wish I would have known which boat we were going to be on and wine and cheese were being served. I would have book a different boat. read more

Also, apparently it's a thing that when someone doesn't want their bike, they throw it in the canal, so the canal is literally cluttered with bicycles and a lot of other things lol The architecture on the buildings is breathtaking and the history behind the size of the windows, the color of the buildings and so much more is fascinating. I would share that with you, but if you plan on going, I really don't wanna ruin that for you. I will say that when looking through my pictures if you notice the one building that's all black, that is known as the Rolling Stones house. Not the band, but the magazine... However, there's a lot of history that has walked in and out of that building. The cruise is worth it and you'll enjoy getting off of your feet for an hour. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I do not know what boat we rented, but we rented to to watch the world pride parade on it. Our captain of the boat (Thijs) was a HORRIBLE person! If you get him run, I feel he might be a homophobe. When I arrived on the boat I introduced myself to be polite. He told me his name but was angry. He then said he had been up for 3 days and was tired and didn't want to be there. The ONLY rules he gave us was trash on left can, bottles and cans on right. No other rules were given. The ENTIRE parade he sat either on the edge of the boat flirting with the boat of girls next to us, or in the captains chair yelling at my friends with a sour look. In fact, we had to empty all the trash and clean up the boat as he did nothing at all! After the parade was over, we paid to go through the canals and be dropped off where we started. First, he didn't want to do the canal tour. Once he agreed he take us, he took us 30 min away and just docked the boat and told everyone to get off. He said he was tired of us not following the rules (which we weren't told) and no one respecting his boundary (which everyone was). Luckily for us, the dock was locked as i did not want to walk 30 minutes home. So we all got back on the boat and he immediately took us back to the original spot. He tried to be all macho saying he is from a military family and he was in the military. He then lied to the owner of the shop/company about what happened. I know this, because our friend went to the shop Monday to complain and the owner said he called her and she believes him. She also said he was over everything that was happening on the canal, um it is world pride what did he think???? read more

On a sunny morning, which I feel is the slowest time, and the waterways are less crowded, is the best time to tour. They have beverages for purchase onboard. I booked the first canal tour of the day (at 10am) with Flagship Tours from Central Station because I had an afternoon flight from Schiphol. The night before the tour, they texted me that the boat had broken down and I could either do a 10am tour from the Anne Frank House (which was considerably further from my hotel) or a 10:30am tour from Central Station. It was a tight fit with my schedule, but I reluctantly chose the Anne Frank House. At the time of the tour, the boat and personnel were nowhere to be seen. Finally, a university-aged employee showed and informed my family and I that there was no 10am tour from the Anne Frank House, there was never a 10am tour, and she was sorry but all we could do was wait for 10:30am or ask for a refund at the nearby office. At the office, the employee processed our refund but was completely unsympathetic. This tour company doubly wronged us. If they had informed us that there was no 10:00am tour anywhere, we could have booked a tour with a different provider. And by directing us to the Anne Frank House, they ensured that we couldn't attempt a 10:30am tour from Central Station (which we maybe could've squeezed in). We were thus unable to do a canal tour of Amsterdam. I am devastated: we are Americans for whom coming to Europe is time-consuming, expensive, and consequently infrequent. Through Flagship Tour's dishonesty and dishonorable behavior, we were deprived of the canal tour opportunity. Their refund was a plainly inadequate remedy. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

I was lucky enough to attend the hour-long unlimited wine and cheese canal tour hosted by Flagship. I was uncertain what to expect on this, but was BLOWN AWAY by the experience from start to finish. The boat was crowded, more so than anticipated, but there was still a decent amount of room for everyone to have a seat and space to breathe, so I appreciated very much that they cap the number of people who can come. The day I took the tour was POURING out and really gray, but it was still an absolutely beautiful experience, and the covered boat was warm and kept us all completely dry. Jenna and Fran led the tour and walked us through all of the ins and outs of being on the boat - and promised that unlimited wine and cheese meant exactly that despite the fact that the boat was crowded. They took turns sharing the history and facts about Amsterdam while the other did the rounds refilling wine glasses and getting more cheese. I am 99.8% positive I ate my bodyweight in the two types of Dutch cheeses they provided (and obviously drank my bodyweight in Sauv Blanc - thank god the tour was only an hour!). I was also really impressed because each 2 people (in a group, you weren't partnered with a stranger) got their own board of cheese - I had imagined a giant shared platter in the middle of a table, but this was a really nice touch! The wine was also solid - they had a few types of white, rose, and Merlot, as well as Heineken and sodas for those who weren't drinking. They gave a lot of fun stories as well as history of what we were seeing as we toured the canal, inserting a ton of humor into the facts they provided to all of us on the boat. I honestly could have used another half hour of just hearing the stories and learning more about Amsterdam through Fran and Jenna - it was one of the highlights of my time in Amsterdam and I would HIGHLY recommend and would do this again in a heartbeat! He gave us a "warning" before anyone even spoke, ensured we would not speak during the tour, and ruined the experience for all of us. The amount of knowledge given out by the guide was second to none. Did you know the homes in that area are built at a 2 degree angle? You will have to take the tour! The two person staff on the boat was knowledgeable and fun. We had the option of ordering alcoholic beverages and/or soft drinks while we drove under and around all the bridges. The reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp were flawless, and plentiful. Unfortunately I had a mediocre experience with this company. I think it's really just a hit or miss who you get for your tour guides, as mine were two women that I felt just didn't know much history or fun facts about Amsterdam. It wasn't very entertaining. They also weren't very good at steering, we did hit the wall at one point, and a couple other close calls. The sites were great though, just sitting on the boat and seeing the beautiful buildings in a different perspective. The whole tour was decently priced and did last the full hour. I would not recommend this company though, and wish I would have gone with "Those Dam Boat Guys" instead, that was recommended by Rick Steves. read more

I was really impressed with the level of detail provided by both of your guides, Tamsin & Mariana, who looked like she was taking a break, from being a high fashion runway model, including answering difficult questions from passengers. The cheeses were very nice, as well as the beverages. I learned so much more about the history of The Netherlands, why people refer to the area as Holland, why the buildings lean forward, as well as side-to-side, as well as about window height differences and the meaning behind having stairs to your home entrance. I had a super great time on this tour! Initially I was a bit concerned because our original boat had a mechanical issue so we had to wait for a new one and I thought it was going to take a while, however, flagship has a boat running every 20 minutes so we were underway in less than a half hour after our departure time even with the initial issue. Christophe, our skipper did not address the group much, but also had zero bumps or issues throughout the cruise which is all that we really needed from him anyways. Rob, our host, was very friendly and vivacious and offered entertaining and informative stories about Amsterdam. I booked the one hour salonboat with cheese and wine, The cheese was also quite plentiful in portion and the wine was good as well! They misrepresented the trip. Their advertisement shows a covered boat. It was completely uncovered. We specifically asked and we were told that if it started raining they would raise a cover. There was no such cover. Their website said the boat was warm and snugly. Wrong. It rained most of the trip. They handed out umbrellas, which of course, with 25 people on board, meant we couldn't see very much. No heaters, of course. The guy who spoke during the trip said in advance that his primary job was going to be serving drinks if people want to drink. Which of course interrupted his talking. We do not recommend this company. Find someone else, anyone else. We felt scammed. read more

Went on the light show river tour at 4:45 today. We didn't leave the dock until 5, there were a lot of boats but so so many people waiting in an endlessly long line. As soon as we boarded the boat we already had pretty bad seats, sitting right next to the table serving as the bar. Throughout the entire tour the hostesses, not their fault-just based off layout, were knocking up against us. The tour showcased a lot of Amsterdam water art which was cool but the view from the boat wasn't very good and the captain and hostesses interpretation of the art was...interesting. For example we saw some DNA made of lights and the hostess interpreted it as an alien invasion, or we saw a really cool looking ball of yarn that had the illusion of going underwater and tying up a crane, she interpreted it as a giant in the woods was playing with it.
