The quality and professionalism was outstanding, with a very knowledgeable English speaking captain (Pauline was great!). My boyfriend and I loved our experience at Pure Boats, especially after enduring a French boat cruise that prioritized quantity over quality. Such an intimate boat with an open bar, charcuterie board, and friendly tour guide. I made four or five mimosas before I calmed down. We asked questions about living in the Netherlands that are rather unconventional, and he still managed to answer all of them. He managed to balance guiding the boat and conversing with all guests very well. He also stopped for all the guests to take photos at particularly scenic points in our tour. Definitely worth it to take your tour in the evening while the sun is setting and the weather isn't too hot! Most people who came were celebrating engagements or honeymoons. If that doesn't speak to the testament of the quality of this place, I don't know what does! Trusting a spot with one of the few important moments in your life where you don't splurge is impressive. We definitely passed by our fair share of other boat cruises, and this one has the most lovely interior. The high rating on Yelp is well deserved. We experienced a tour on pure boats in April 2025, during our engagement trip to Amsterdam! We did a lot of research to find a Canal cruise that we would enjoy, and we didn't want something so mainstream such as the gray line or something large scale. We wanted something nice intimate, cozy, professional, and enjoyable. Pure boats did not disappoint!! Their boats are so luxurious and clean and fresh! The staff running them was amazing! On the boat, they treat you to unlimited drinks such as champagne, beer, and wine. Also, you do have a choice of snacks such as small cookies and a fruit and cheeseboard. The staff was extremely helpful in accommodating to every need and during the entire tour, the captain made us feel so comfortable navigating those difficult waterways. The skipper who was giving us information about the city and doing the tour was super knowledgeable, I can't exactly remember her name, but she was from America living in Amsterdam! Wow this canal cruise was wonderful. Truly what makes this cruise amazing is the captain you get. Each captain will go their own route and make it unique. Ours told us some fun facts and history. I do wish he told us a little bit more about the history of Amsterdam. There were several times where it was complete silence for 10 minutes. While that was relaxing, I also would have loved to learn things on the cruise. Overall a phenomenal experience and I would totally recommend this company. Such a fun canal cruise! We unfortunately booked a 2 hour afternoon cruise on a rainy day but luckily the boat could be completely covered and enclosed to keep out the rain. We didn't have the best views with the rain but it was still such a great way to spend an afternoon and probably the best way we could have toured Amsterdam! The snacks and drinks provided were yummy and while we're not big drinks (I appreciated the mimosas with largely orange juice), there are a good variety of local beer that some of the other folks on the tour with us really enjoyed. Our host was fantastic as well telling us a combination of tour commentary as well as his own personal stories which was a great introduction to Amsterdam for first-timers like us. The boat itself is a great size for a medium size boat and has a restroom as well if you need to go during the ride. I really wanted to do a nighttime boat tour of the canals in Amsterdam, but the idea of cramming onto the large touristy boats full of people going up and down the canals was less appealing. So after some online research, we booked a nighttime tour with Pure Boats and found the experience to be far superior. Plus we were treated as people and not as cattle, so bonus. So the boat we went out on was lovely - it only seated 12 people and only 10 were on our tour. We were all couples and all Americans, so it was easy conversation and a fun group. Our boat driver (who said his name was "Shlinka," which i am sure is not spelled like that at all) and the server/tour guide John were so great. Funny, interesting, personable. They gave us an awesome tour, answered all of our questions and helped us understand the culture of what we were looking at. There was also a healthy array of snacky things out for us, and we were encouraged to drink pretty much as much booze as possible. Given the open bar and refreshments served, I really feel like the price tag of about 50 Euros each was a steal for what we got. We would highly recommend this above the more touristy "mass" tours of the canals. We also noted that this company does charters. If we ever come back to Amsterdam with a group of friends (something we talked about a lot)l we would absolutely charter a private tour with this group, especially if Shlinka could be our guide again! read more

We cannot recommend this tour enough! We had a great time with our captain, Mouse. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so the canals were quite busy with day rentals that didn't know what they were doing. Mouse had to be a traffic cop a lot but handled it in a calm and funny manner. There are a lot of choices for beer and wine, as much as you want to drink, and not the cheapest stuff either. A wonderful variety of cheeses, nuts, and fruit of which there was plenty. We got to see a lot more than most cruises as we boated by some quiet areas and even the zoo. By the end of the tour all of the passengers were having fun getting to know each other. This tour was one of the highlights of our three weeks in Europe. read more

I did a morning cruise with Pure Boats at 9:15 am yesterday, and it was great! The canal and streets weren't too busy, but the sun was out and it was beautiful. Our captain was very engaging and funny and had a lot of interesting facts about Amsterdam after growing up here. Beautiful boat and a nice spread of cheeses and charcuterie as well as a fully stocked bar with local brews too. The host was very friendly, easy to talk too, and enthusiastic about his beloved City. The seating is arranged in a U shape which encourages social engagements. This friendly atmosphere was brilliantly foster by our host as was the spirits. I would note that the structure of the boat and hosting style creates more of a social gathering and less than an informed tour. I'd also like to suggest that if one is less than fully hydrated, sleep deprived and an empty stomach, over indulging in the alcoholic beverages may have unpleasant consequences! Entirely our fault of course. We did, however, miss seeing what must have been beautifully lighted architectural highlights. read more
