    Beautiful boat and snacks/drinks

Amazing boat tour of Amsterdam! Our skipper Bryce was energetic, fun and told us so many different facts about the city. I loved how the boat had snacks, beer, wine, etc. all available for guests. Boat tour was 90 mins and it flew right on by. Highly recommend going on this boat if near the Rijksmuseum.

Wonderful canal tour! Lovely set up with plenty of snacks, wines, soda, water, cushions, blankets, umbrellas--everything you need! We were ready for all the weather. There was no cover and we didn't need it. Sir Albert was our guide and I learned so much from him. Great history and stories, and he had a great sense of humor too. Fantastic way to explore the city! I highly recommend.

Second canal cruise during my trip and this one was awesome! It's a little more in cost but you get snacks, wine, beer and drinks. The tour guide Eric was awesome with a lot of stories and information. Book them online and ahead of time. We had some heavy rain during the ride and he handled it well. I went here after the museums it's near the Rijksmuseum and something relaxing to do after walking around so much.

I booked this canal cruise online (highly recommend) to have a more intimate tour instead of the cheaper big boat rides. This company advertises a tour by Captain Jack. I was disappointed at first when I saw we got a different tour guide, but he was actually pretty great. He shared great stories of his childhood and adult life, which I prefer to generic memorized notes. The boat was filled with very random snacks and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. During the tour, the guide tells us that everything on the boat is Dutch, which made it all make more sense and a lot more fun to eat. This is a must-do when visiting Amsterdam.

We took the advice of online posters and paid the higher fee for captain jack, and I am so glad we did. The tour was fabulous, with Captain Anna, who was informative and interesting. We learned a lot about the area, and had delicious snacks and conversation on our 90 minute tour. Other tour boats would pass going the other way, and they are all listening to a prerecorded tour with no interaction at all. We felt very fortunate to have invested in the right group and had a lovely time. Warning--don't try the white M&M like candy--ugh! Dutch and Americans seriously disagree about good candy! But everything else was delicious!

There are many canal tours to choose from and I am glad we chose this one. In addition to cruising the canals you are given historical information and we learned a lot! Our captain was captain Albert and he was wonderful and gave us lots of information on the area and we were able to ask questions and he gave us tips about other things to see. It was a chilly morning and blankets were provided which was a nice touch. There was also a good variety of drinks and snacks to enjoy on our tour! We even got to try some peppermint/salty licorice candy which I enjoyed and was glad we got to try this local treat. Highly recommend !

Very fun canal tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable of the little facts around Amsterdam and made it super fun playing little games and goofing off. There was lots of drinks and snacks to eat. They gave us all blankets and had umbrellas which came in handy at one point. It was such a fun experience and I'd definitely do it again. Though they do combine groups so if you don't have like 15-20 people in your group you should expect to share a boat with other groups of people which can be fun if you get a few good groups that enjoy a good laugh! Thankfully we had a good few different groups of people on this cruise

We were with Rory and he was fantastic! Love the tour and would recommend going again! He was amazing, service was great and worked well with our 1 year old!!

Fun boat ride. Our tour guide Rory was funny and knowledgeable. Despite the rain we had a great time. There were snacks and drinks on board as well. I'd highly recommend this tour!

A DAMN GOOD TIME WITH A DAMN GOOD GUIDE!! That Damn Guide,…read moreMark, is an independent tour guide in Amsterdam and provided our family with an excellent, private walking tour experience. He's very knowledgeable, very funny, and offers a unique perspective on Amsterdam with interesting insights into the rich culture and history of this city. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and he comes highly recommended!

The small size is so much more intimate and comfortable. He spent a little time at the start getting to know us better and finding out what our interests are so he could tailor the tour for us. Then he showed us a map pointing out where we were going and sites he wanted to show us. His walking tours are usually between 2 to 8 people which is what initially attracted us to this tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it because Mark opened up Amsterdam to us in a way we never could have done on our own. That's the gift that Mark has, to be able to show us this multi-faceted city through his eyes, and his experiences, and with a balanced view. You would think that 3 hours is a long time to walk around a city but the time just flew by! Mark touched on the social, economic and political faces of Amsterdam. He sprinkled it with history and humor too. And it's all so much more interesting the way he presents it than just walking around reading from a guide book. Amsterdam is a beautiful city with a complex history and Mark shares it all during the walk. He's easy to listen to and his narrative is insightful and informative. Mark set a comfortable walking pace for us and he was ever mindful that my husband wore hearing aids. We really appreciated that. We loved the cafe that he took us to for a short break. It was open and airy and had a good vibe. The gallery and shop downstairs showcasing Dutch design was fascinating. I'd love to return. Mark also introduced us to a couple of smaller museums that we plan to see again. You can support this Amsterdam local business by booking directly on the That Dam Guide website instead of any 3rd party booking site, all of which charges him commissions. It's truly the best way to get to know Amsterdam.

She was able to go beyond what was written on the displays and give further context and meaning, as well as identifying optimum ways of navigating throught these sometimes crowded museums. The communication about where to meet at the Jewish History Museum was helpful. We arrived 20 minutes early today, and there was a big enough group that two guides came out to split us in two. We were so happy to have Clare J as our tour guide. She did a superb job of pacing our stops, telling us where to stand for the best view, and projecting her voice so we could all hear. She was knowledgeable, kind, and skillful at narrating the story of the Nazi occupation in Amsterdam and the response of the people here. I learned so much about the ways the people in Amsterdam protested or resisted both directly and indirectly. I was awed to see all the names of people memorialized at the Holocaust monument, and in the plaques on city sidewalks in various places. I appreciated hearing Clare read the excerpt from Anne's diary. All typhoid in her guidebook also helped us visualize what was happening back then. The walking tour makes me anticipate tomorrow's visit to the Anne Frank house even more. Highly recommend!
