This place dedicates themselves to control the cat population by having cat trappers bring in feral cats to get spay or neutered. These trappers are properly trained in what they do and release the kitties back to where they were found. Today was surgery number one for two of the 6 feral community cats that currently come and go in my backyard. Everything went well, from checking in, to dropping off the kittens, then showing up for pick up during the allotted hours. My kittens are doing so good!! They ate post surgery instructions and I was able to give them water as well. All good signs to a good recovery! Appreciate all the cats they helped me fix but it's been some years and I'm still hurt how much of this cat's ear they took off. Seems rushed and negligent on top of unnecessary. The people two blocks away will see she is fixed. Make me wonder how they treated her insides. Plus so many rules with 0 precautions for feral cats after surgery. Ferel cats have so many different situations and I don't think some precautions, that people have the option to take, would hurt. I was in a very stressful situation. I contacted over 50 places to help me and no one responded. The only organization that helped me and actually offered a reasonable solution was Fixnation. When I went to pick up the trap, I was low key super sad over my situation. I didn't want a female cat to get pregnant and give birth in a parking lot. I couldn't sleep over this. So, I set the trap and bingo! She walked right in. I showed up at 6:30 am on Saturday because getting her spayed was so important to me. Everything went smoothly -- the entire staff is wonderful. I picked up the stray female cat that we named Princess Peach and she did so wonderfully well. She had a lot of appetite and was eating immediately. We released her the next day and she immediately was thriving. She was running around the garden and parking lot. I cannot recommend FixNation highly enough! I became a mom to a tiny abandoned kitten in my yard, and found Leo when his eyes weren't even open. I needed to get him neutered, but my vet wanted over $600. to do it! I searched around, and found FixNation. PEOPLE AT FIXNATION CARE!!! They charged me $65. to both neuter and microchip Leo. I gave them an extra donation, and they totally deserve it! Their mission is to spay and neuter all cats, which is wonderful because it's irresponsible not to. I have since "adopted" 3 feral kittens, who live now in my backyard. My neighbor helped me trap them, and they are now spayed and neutered. I'm so grateful to FixNation. They're the reason the strays we feed now have such an improved quality of life. They're a bonded pair, Simba and Nala, who're almost always together. Before surgery, Simba was skinny and covered in battle scars, fighting over territory and keeping other toms from Nala. Meanwhile, Nala was constantly pregnant and always so skinny. Her kittens never survived either due to other toms and predators in our mountainous neighborhood. Thanks to their video resources and traps, after 2 weeks I was able to trap them both and get them fixed. Now they're so happy and healthy! Fixnation was so helpful when I was trying to get the cat colony that lives behind my apartment complex under control. They were very patient and informative throughout the entire process and walked me through the entire TNR process. I took in a stray cat last fall who had somehow found me while I was working from home due to Covid. She came to my window out of nowhere (I live on the first floor of an apartment building and my windows face a restricted area). So I fed her, gave her water (this was during late September 2020 heatwave in LA), yet she wouldn't leave my window for four days straight. So I finally let her inside. She ate, drank, and then jumped back outside the window. Progress. The cat continued to stay near my window in the days after, so I made an appointment with a vet to get her checked out before I let her in for an extended period. It turned out she had worms and fleas, which were treated. The big news -- and I kind of already figured -- was that she was pregnant. What to do?! So I looked up some information online (this was all new to me) and it became apparent that due to Covid the best chance of her and her kittens survival/happiness would be for me to just let her stay with me and give birth to the kittens and then rehome them myself. Mind you I haven't had a pet since I was a kid and was not looking for one (let alone a litter of kittens). Plus, my apartment/lifestyle wasn't really suited for it either. Long story short -- and I'm getting to the review but the setup is necessary - she gave birth to 5 kittens in late October. I bought a huge cat tree, toys, food, litter boxes, cat blankets, carrier, etc., in anticipation of their arrival. If you're reading this you know the drill. It's expensive! I doted over them since (literally) day one and kept them with me until about 13 weeks of age (one week longer than most recommendations just to make sure they were ready) and successfully rehomed four myself (I had to keep one). Good, right?! I'm lucky enough to have still have a job so I figured everyone is making sacrifices during this time and this can be mine. Fast-forward to January 2021 and she went into heat. Badly. I was seriously not expecting what this entailed. She was meowing at the top of her lungs around the clock and wouldn't leave me alone while I was trying to work (jumping on my desk, walking on my keyboard, etc.) This went on for days. I looked up spay and neuter clinics in LA and they were either booked for months or straight up refused to take appointments due to Covid. I live in a studio apartment and I honestly couldn't sleep while she was in heat. I tried to keep her in the bathroom, but I could still hear her. I was in fear of noise complaints from neighbors, which would have led to either me letting her go outside or an eviction notice. I don't even know if I'm allowed to have cats. I seriously contemplated (many times) just opening the window and letting her out to do what she wanted to do. During all of this I'm thinking to myself "Really!?! I try to help out the pet community/animal world and go out of my way to take in a stray cat and foster her kittens and no one can help me to prevent this from recurring again!?! What's the point!?" The expenses kept piling up. PetCo. Walmart. Target. Between weeks 9 and 13 I was spending more money on cat food and kitty litter than on my own food and toilet paper. But then it happened. Out of the blue I received a call from FixNation asking me if I was still interested in spaying my cat because they suddenly had an opening the next day (after they already told me they were booked up for months). I was in shock. I literally jumped for joy the moment I hung up the phone. I made the drive to Sun Valley (never been there before) early the next morning and was greeted by the nicest people you could imagine. They were very professional, polite, informative, and precise. They told me everything I needed to know before I even asked. The prices were crazy affordable, so I opted for the works: rabies shot, combo shot, microchip, nail trim, etc. I would have skipped these at the private vet just due to cost, so it was so nice to have everything done. My cat is now on her 3rd day of recovery and so far it's been very successful. She's not showing any signs of pain, no infection, and really nothing to worry about. I'm amazed at how well she's handling it. In conclusion, thank you so much to the entire staff at FixNation. I know it was just a routine spay for you guys, but you helped me out more than you know. And (not saying I would have let her out, but it was heading in that direction) you probably prevented multiple litters of kittens from being born on the dirty streets of Westlake/DTLA. I don't know how this particular cat ended up homeless and pregnant and at my window, but this particular cycle ended here. Thank you, FixNation! read more

2nd time trapping and we got 2 more!!!! Another kitten and a tuxedo cat who was PISSED! Tuxedo growled and hissed at me, possibly even spit! He (or she) was not happy! Was hoping to get another kitten on this run but I'll try again next week to get him or her. One last kitten after this and I think we'll have gotten all the feral's in the back yard (for now, at least). What a great great program they have at FixNation! So scary and nerve racking at first, but once you do it one time you get the hang of it and it becomes easier the 2nd time around. Now I/we know what to expect. Our first trapping went GREAT! The 3 that were trapped the first time were fixed and returned to the yard with no problem (check out the pictures). The kitties were alert and looked great after their procedure. Came back for another kitty fix, this time for a little one I always found ripping up my garbage! Turns out what I thought was a kitten, was really a very young small cat that had recently had a litter! Cats dont waste any time making more cats. Fix nation was amazing again and got her taken care of without any issue, it is so wonderful how simple it is to do this for the cats and for the community. Just pull right up, drop off, return later to get them, let them relax and heal a bit, then off they go. A few months ago, some stray kitties were born and abandoned in my mom's backyard - she had been feeding them and we figured since no balls had descended, these were girl kitties and we should probably get them fixed before they started having litters of their own. Googled around for TNR places and found FixNation! Extremely professional and well run (free spay/neuter for feral cats) - you fill out an online application and do the training exercises before you can schedule an appointment. They loan out traps ($100 deposit/trap) so you can trap the kitties. I picked up the traps on a Friday, was able to get appointments for Saturday and brought the kitties in. Same day service - bring them in the AM, pick them up in the afternoon. Every single person who works here is so friendly and so nice and I give them major props! I don't give one-star ratings... and it pains me because any group working diligently to help the animal over-population is worth 10 stars in my opinion. But what happened in my situation really is not acceptable within the parameters of the goal and needs involved, and so it's more of a PSA. And let me state, everyone was very nice, just addressing being unthorough and kind of negligent. It took me over 4 months to get a feral cat I took inside, to be comfortable enough to come near me so we could capture her and get her in a carrier to get her fixed, and get shots. Unfortunately, I had not ticked off the boxes for the shots on the last form they sent me, they didn't verify that at the time I dropped off, but they made sure to encourage the microchip, which was also not checked off. I don't do this everyday, have never had a cat before even. I did however write on the form that she was very skittish, there was a tag on the carrier when I picked her up stating that. HOWEVER!!!! They did not put the collar on her while she was under sedation, so guess what!!!?! We Cannot Get The Collar On! Of Course! The guy there said - "You should have told us to put it on".... ??? What? The sticker says "very skittish". What part of that does not indicate you need to put the collar on?? I would NEVER think they wouldn't put the collar on. So BIG piece of advice: Make Sure You Think To Ask EVERY Question, Triple check your paperwork for everything, and don't expect them to help you - even though this is all they do, each and every day. read more

We got our kitty that we recently took in (he was a stray and is approximately 5-6 months) neutered with fix nation and it was so easy!! Dropped him off around 7am, picked him up at 3pm and he did great! Got his nails trimmed, and microchipped in addition to him being neutered and it was only $55!! I wish I knew about them sooner! My wife and I are "foster fail" parents of two adorable kittens, rescued from a truly horrible situation. This past weekend, the amazing staff at Fixnation could have just done the regular free neuter surgery, vaccines, deworming and flea treatment for this Los Angeles area feral. However, because they care so much about every cat's well-being, they managed an impromptu tail repair/amputation surgery, complete with aftercare meds, for this very lucky kitty!!! He feels so much better now! Wonderful organization. Professional, caring staff showed kindness to my kitty and patience with me (her crazy stressed out mom). They never made me feel rushed even though I know they were busy. They took time to reassure me and answer all of my questions. I watched the guy after me picking up his cat ask the same exact questions I did and double check he understood the post op care and the staff showed him the same patience as if it was the first time anyone had asked the questions. If I were rich I would give this organization a butt-load if money!!!!! It touches my heart that these people provide such an important service to our community! I don't even know where to begin! The fact that feral cats can be fixed for free is huge!!! If I start seeing more cats roaming my neighborhood, I may get myself trained as a trapper. I saw one lady come in with 11 cats!!! My husband would have a fit with me if I brought 11 cats into the apartment! Kudos to her! Being a trapper demands some time & effort. You have to come in for training, trap the cats yourself, keep them inside over 2 nights (pre&post op) and watch over them. My office mates and I have been feeding this stray for over a month and I decided that is was time fore to take responsibility and have her fixed. I was originally going to schedule a feral Trap-Neuter-Release, but some of my coworkers felt better about it if we chipped in for the low cost spay/neuter option. Thank goodness Ivy, the scheduler, was so patient with us. First I bugged her with a million questions about TNR, then I took a break to devote energy into finding the cat a home (let the new parents take care of it), then I scheduled my trap training only to change my mind and schedule a low-cost spay as a pet. She probably wanted to smack me, but she didn't. I could tell she just wanted to her our cat fixed one way or the other. I had called around to other places and the surgery would cost around $100 at the cheapest vet, $60 at SNP LA, but they were all booked for 2 weeks. It was $55 at fixation and I got an appoint the NEXT DAY! Luckily, our stray cat was already fixed (surprise to me)! I went ahead and got her a rabies shot and a microchip and it only cost me $15!!! I suppose I should go look for Princess Clawdia's owners (although I don't know if I should bother- Maybe she came from a good home and just got out, lost her collar wandered the streets, went a little wild, and became dirty and matted...but she didn't have a microchip...Not a good sign... And she's smart. If she wanted to, she could probably have found her way back home.) My guess is that she's a victim of a dump and run. If you're reading this, you would make a good pet parent or knows someone who needs a furry companion, and would like a beautiful loving cat who is currently curled up & purring on my lap, comment on this post. I would LOVE to keep her, but I already have 2 cats in a 700 sq foot apartment and she's kinda territorial so I'm sure if I let her out of this bathroom there would be hell to pay...and my husband wouldn't like it. While I can't speak to the organization's main cause (spay/neutering stray cats), I am absolutely indebted to FixNation for their low cost vaccine clinic for cats and dogs! A year ago, I found an adorable dog prancing around in my neighborhood all alone, so I adopted him. Unfortunately at the time I was pretty much completely broke, but I was in love with Yoshi too much to send him to the shelter, and I wanted to give him the best healthcare I could, including get him all his vaccinations. My research led me to FixNation which offers a cheap vaccinations once a month. The staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and the location is bright, inviting, and feels sterile without being too cold and clinical. The only thing I would change is to have them be a regular veterinarian office so I could bring my dog here for everything! read more
