What really stood out to me was that he also noticed an issue with the ice maker and took the time to fix it, even though I hadn't originally expected or asked him to take care of it. He really went the extra mile, and I appreciated the effort and attention to detail. The refrigerator has been working great ever since. With a previous repair done by another technician, the fix only lasted a few months to maybe a year before the problem came back. This repair, however, has continued to hold up for several years and is still working great today. That really says a lot about the quality of Jose's work. I suspect that the Yelp area is not quite accurate, since Philip mentioned that he covers over into Norwalk as well, but certainly on both sides of the LA and Orange counties. He estimated that he would arrive between 6 and 7 PM, and did so at 6:45 (still in the time window). During the visit he was very direct, no-nonsense, quickly identified the inverter issue, had a replacement part on hand, and was able to install and confirm functioning in about 45 minutes. The final cost was $350, in line with his estimate, and a bit below some quoted prices I got from other vendors. I was quite satisfied with the communication, ability to identify and repair the issue, and overall value. I have mentioned Philip to my neighbors in case they have an issue. Philip is able to service other appliances (except for AC units, though he knows someone else who specializes in that).

One was a controller for the compressor, and the other was some sort of circuit board. I did not trust the repair person so I paid the $89 visit and declined the suggested service. We then found PKC online and called them 10 minutes later (5PM yesterday). He said he would be at our home in 40 minutes. Phillip arrived within the time promised and within minutes determined the issue was the compressor controller. He had it with him, installed it, and our fridge was up and running. The other circuit board did not need replacing. I asked him if the coils needed cleaning. He looked at them and said, "they are clean, no need." Total cost $450 which included the $50 visit. Done. Fair, Highly recommend Phillip. Will be calling him for all appliance needs from now on.

He said that since I was local to the area that he'd be willing to send a technician out later than normally, which first off is amazing customer service. We agreed on a time of when I would be home and sure enough, right on the dot. The technician was at my house ready with everything that he needed. He came in very professionally asked where the unit was and began working once I explained what the situation was going on with the dryer. After about 15 minutes, he told me exactly what was wrong, the thermostat went out on the dryer and he was going to verify if they had a replacement part inside of the truck. The whole repair took less than 45 minutes, from fully disassembling, the dryer, finding the issue, and fixing the thermostat, while also completely putting together the dryer all over again and testing that the heating element was working properly. I was originally going to go with one of the repair teams that my dryers manufacturer recommended, but Mr. Vic and his team absolutely blew the price out of the water. This is the first time, and definitely not the last time, that I would be calling Mr. Vicks to Service any of my appliances. You have definitely earned a customer for the long haul.

Frank provided me with a quote of $1,800 on June 8, 2026, for my popcorn ceiling removal project. We discussed the scope of work multiple times to ensure we were on the same page, and the appointment was confirmed for June 19, 2026. Based on that agreement, I stopped looking for other contractors and arranged my schedule around the project. However, the night before the scheduled start date, Frank informed me that he would not perform the work unless I paid $2,500 instead of the originally agreed $1,800. When I asked for an explanation, Frank stated that he thought I would be giving him additional projects in the future, such as electrical work, flooring, and other home improvement jobs. While I may have mentioned that I have other projects around the house, I never agreed to hire him for those projects, nor was the $1,800 quote presented as being dependent on receiving future work. Our discussions and the Yelp referral were specifically for the popcorn ceiling removal project. If the quoted price depended on additional future projects, that should have been clearly communicated before the quote was given and before the appointment was confirmed. I feel it is unfair and unprofessional to increase the price by $700 less than 24 hours before the scheduled start date after we had already agreed on the project terms and date.
