Reverse tape some years when my parents had been using The Five Z's whete the shop is run by father Walter and son Stephen. Walter being short in explanations but very talented and very dedicated to his shop and the business within, Stephen is a talented mechanic as well, it's in the blood. The referral of this dual bay Glendale mechanics garage came by way of a gearhead buddy of mine, although older in age, a wiz at fixing cars. This grew to multiple neighbors on the block shifting their car care to The Five Z's. Foreign or domestic (Not to sound like a radio advertisement) Walter and Stephen are honest as the day is long and craftsmen at their trade. took my car in for an inspection, two weeks after paying a huge sum to have it serviced completely in-dealer. the dude insisted i needed new break pads and charged me over $200. couldve fought it but didnt feel like dealing with the bull $70 fail fee. get your ducks in a row before coming for an inspection because theyll try to make their money regardless of whether its necessary or not. seems like the brake thing is normal based on other reviews, wont be going back for inspections or anything else. do honest, customer-intentioned auto shops even exist anymore? read more

I'm very happy with this shop. Fair pricing, honest staff, and quick work. I had a lot done on my car struts, shocks axle, belt, plugs, ignition coils; same time. I had a problem with my car, something really stupid I overlooked. Since there had been a bad snow storm a few days before I didn't want to lose my spot. I was lucky Five Z's is right around the corner from where my car was parked. I walked in at 7 am explained my problem and the owner knew exactly how to fix it and walked over with me, 5 minutes later fixed, I thanked him and that's it. I bring my wives' car as well as mine & my son's car often. The team at Five Z's , Walter Jr & Sr as well as Steve, are always a pleasure to deal with. These guys never let me down yet. Always a reasonable cost and always done in a timely manner. They use all quality parts and never take a shortcut. I always recommend them to family and friends and nothing but good responses from them. I remember when Walter was working feveriously all day to locate a leak in the air conditioner on my Ford van. I was getting a little concerned about what the final price quote was going to be, or if he will even be able to locate the leak at all. In the end, They were able to find and fix the leak, and the price was beyond affordable. OK so this is a true story... I had received a quote for the back door lock of my Chevy Blazer to be fixed. I was told it needed a total replacement and would cost hundreds. I pulled in on a whim to 5 Zs and Steven the owner took a look. After about 30 seconds of playing around in there, he unlatched and fixed it. No charge. Then I asked him for an oil change and he told me I didn't even need one. Its nice to see the honesty, especially from a stranger and especially from a mechanic. They will have all my future repairs, especially if he keeps not charging me:) read more

Life Saver! Thank you so much for your help today! My car was clipped by another vehicle while I was parallel parking. My whole bumper was hanging on by a tiny piece. I called Five Z's and spoke to Steve. He immediately walked over to where my car was located (Dunkin Donuts) and helped me with my vehicle. Without his help, I wouldn't have been able to drive home today - and would have had to have my car towed. Thanks for saving me lots of money and aggravation today. Went there for a simple inspection new car I was told I needed both front and back brakes that my brakes were cutting into the drums ... I was just about to tell him to do the breaks for $800 with my uncle told me there's nothing wrong with your car I just drove it the day before ....tell them forget about it ...so I told him to forget about it figuring that I would fail the inspection instead I was just giving the keys to my car back ...I took it to Rudy on 73rd Place ...my brakes were checked and was told I didn't need breaks at all matter fact 14 months later I got the brakes done so be careful when you go for an inspection bring a Mechanic with you to make sure the problem exist would never go there again and told all my friends about it and family members the place is a rip off.. Nothing but scammers in this shop. My wife took her car here for an inspection and they told her she needed brakes and tires. Tires were only 6 months old and brakes were one month old. They got very quiet when I went back to pick up the car. read more

BEWARE Of this Mechanic Shop!! They are always empty for a reason! I've brought my car here several times and they have a habit of not tightening your lug nuts.. YES! I said lug nuts. My wheel fell off one time thank god i was going 10mph when it happened, no apologies by the shop owner was given. I gave them a second chance (silly me), let them work on a family members car and the wheel was extremely loose and on the verge of coming off on that vehicle also, right after front end work. Thank god we caught it in time, somebody could have been seriously hurt. AND! No apologies by the owner once again. I will not be going here anymore and you shouldn't either! read more

A damzel in distress in NY OMG. 12:50PM. Leaving NY to head back to the disaster of NJ and my car doesn't start !!!! What do I know? My sister and father both use this mechanic station in Glendale, where I grew up, so I walked down the block to see what they could do for me. "What's wrong with the car"? "I don't know, I just drive it"!!! He walked back with me in the rain and had diagnosed the problem within 6 min. Steve brought his "handy dandy bag of tricks"; I have no clue what it was, all I know is it just helped him diagnose the problem. He took the make and model number of my Nissan and came back with a battery 10 min. later. Nice!!!!!! Steve was very courteous, professional and kind. It is truly refreshing to know that kindness prevails in a society where there is sadness and selfishness. So if anyone is reading this, let me just be clear there are good mechanics around and at times they are hard to find. Read, research and ask around they might just be right up the block. By 1:30pm I was heading back towards NJ, on the garden state parkway by 2:30pm and home in Toms River NJ by 3:45pm. I stopped once for coffee turned off my car (I was so afraid that it wouldn't start) but it DID !!!!! Thank you so much Steve, I so appreciate what you did for me. After years of frustrating experiences with repair shops around the City, I finally found my "go-to" shop. These guys are as good as it gets - knowledgable, quick, and honest. I brought the car in for a second opinion because I didn't trust the first shop I went to after experiencing some problems with the brakes. Steve confirmed what I suspected - the last shop overstated the work that needed to be done and inflated the prices. He called me more than once to discuss the work that my car needed and guaranteed not only the work, but the Five Z's price. Hopefully this will be the last repair I need for a while, but it's great to know that I found a shop I can trust if not. read more
