I would not recommend this place for fluff and fold at all. I recently used this shop for their fluff n fold service, which they advertised on their website. So many things went wrong. First of all, unlike their website says, the laundry was not done on premises, it was sent out, which is fine, just be up front about it. We dropped our laundry off at 11 am on a Saturday and unlike the website said, they do not offer same day service. Sergio told us it would be ready at 9 am on Monday. 9:30 am Monday: we show up to get our laundry and Sergio informs us it's not ready, apologizes, and says it will be ready at noon. 12:30 pm: Sergio get's on the phone and then comes back and says it's not ready, can we come back later. (So it wasn't ready at 9 like he said, and then it wasn't ready at noon like he said, so now he's asking us to make 3 trips to pick up our laundry.) When we finally do pick it up, I kindly ask if there would be any discount since our laundry was not ready when he guaranteed it would be, and he said no, he couldn't do that, but did offer a coupon on our next dry cleaning. He also dry cleaned stuff we didn't ask him to and then tried to charge us for it. I asked for two items to be washed an hung so it wouldn't shrink in the dryer and one shirt washed and pressed. Instead he dry cleaned it and then wanted to charge us for dry cleaning. The one shirt that was pressed still had wrinkles in it. Lastly, as much as I appreciate organization (and it WAS organized) they got a little too focused on the unimportant details (like wrapping one wash cloth in its own paper and labeling it separately). Whoever washed this stuff spent four hours packaging and labeling every single item. We literally had one wash cloth packaged in a brown paper wrapper enclosed with masking tape and labeled "towel". Don't waste your time here, find a good tailor who actually cares about their work. Dropped off 2 shirts to get the sleeves rolled and stitched and when I came on the set date to pick them up he had forgotten to do them. I came back and he didn't do them AGAIN. 3rd time I came back he finally remembered but it was a crappy job so he offered to fix it (which was nice). I wasn't coming back a 4th time so I took it somewhere else and had to pay to get it done right. This is not the place to go if you when you need something done right or on time. read more

Sergio is the bomb! I had a bridesmaid's dress that was too big in the bust but at the same time wouldn't zip up at the waist. I also only had one week until the wedding. Sergio did his magic and made my dress fit perfectly! He hemmed the bottom of the dress and used the same material to add a small section to the back of the dress so it would fit. He also reduced the bust area from the front, and not the side like other tailors would. At the end of the week, the dress looked perfect and it only took 3-4 days for him to fix it! Sergio's work was high end and beautiful! Prepare to go in for 2 fittings, and if at the end of the fitting he believes something else is still missing, he will still fix it until it all fits perfectly! If I could give Zero stars I would. A few months back I brought in a long sleeve cycling jersey. I wanted the sleeves cut off. Everything looked fine. I wore the jersey once this week and then washed it. All the stitches fell out. So today I go to the shop and show him the jersey and his first response was "I'm not fixing that for free". Honestly, I wasn't even asking for that, but he got offensive and abrasive. I was appalled by not only the horrible quality of the work, but his attitude. There are plenty of tailors in the area and I will be using a different one, along with the rest of my family and friends in Venice. Avoid this place. read more

I will NEVER go back here again!! Sergio is unprofessional, aggressive and unhinged. When we politely asked him again why he charged $36 to make one cut on my curtain he told us to F@CK OFF. He then refused to give us the remainder of our curtains until we insisted that he would then be stealing. When I asked him not to swear in front of my small kids he screamed at me to Get the F@CK OFF his property. He continued to speak aggressively towards us and swearing. We immediately left. He was also incredibly rude to my wife when she had enquired earlier about the status of our curtains and called her "you people". He was smug, rude and a very poor tailor. I always try to support local businesses but I will never go back there. I would strongly suggest that if you value good customer experience and service, that you avoid this business. We wrote an email to Leonardo the owner and he did not acknowledge the swearing and Sergio's foul temper but said he had reviewed the video and audio of the event. So be ware that the shop seems to be wired and they are recording everything you say. When we replied to Leonardo we got an auto reply saying his email address is no longer active. read more

I have listed my rating as a one as zero was not an available option. While the owner and main tailor Sergio puts on a nice smiling face there are deep issues with his work and lack of moral integrity and does not stand by the work he produces. His shop is fine if you need a pair of jeans hemmed or a button sewn somewhere but NEVER NEVER NEVER trust him with an expensive garment to have true tailoring performed on a high level. After having a few pair of $200 pants shortened, I had trusted him with the jacket to a suit costing $3,500. At first he had taken in the shoulders which were 18.75" and charged me for that but to complete the job he never took in the chest and charged additional afterwards. The total job came to $250. I knew something was wrong as the jacket felt strange and when I took it to my tailor who does high end work he asked me "what happened to this jacket"? After returning to Sergio he asked to speak to the other tailor and proceeded to be abusive and defensive about his work as the window pane design did not match up properly and challenged me to bring in a jacket that did while offering to refund my money. When I brought him the a jacket to one of my suits that did his unprofessional ism showed..But that's not the worst of it. Prior to performing the work he started pinning the jacket without taking measurements. As a self-proclaimed "master tailor" I trusted what he was doing. When I asked him to measure my shoulder and chest the size of my shoulders is 18" and my chest is 42.5". He has ruined a VERY expensive jacket that was couture Zegna that was a super 150's suit. When I had him measure the jacket after his work, that 18.75" (which I needed it to be 18") is now 17" and the chest went from 42.5" to 41.5" both of which are too tight and not my size. Any GOOD tailor takes measurements before performing work on an item. He failed to do so and then reneged on his offer to refund my money. Not only am I out the $250 but I have a jacket that is only good for the Salvation Army. Absolutely the worse experience I have ever had with a tailor and his reckless behavior, unprofessional attitude and not being a man of his word I will continue with my regular tailor who is truly a master tailor and is about as well known as Richard Lim (Google him). STAY FAR FAR AWAY UNLESS YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR ITEMS. IT DOESN'T GET ANY WORSE THAN THIS! And Sergio, since you are reading this, you are not the tailor you think you are and should pay for what you have ruined beyond repair. (I certainly agree to Meg B's rating of this butcher shop). Any 5 star review must have been written by his friends and/or family). Bring on your videos and false allegations. I'm sure you have pictures of everyone and information when, when and how much they paid for an item. You are not use to working with high end fabrics and therefore have no idea what to do and he failed. Any tailor worth going to will measure you then the garment and then discuss it. Not make a jacket a full inch smaller and say it's fine. As far as your comments Sergio about "BUSINESSES BEWARE", since you have this technology that the CIA doesn't have you will see that this is the one and only review I have left for anyone on this website. I had a relatively small job (i.e. shorten and hem shorts) that I've had done before at other local tailors and have had acceptable results. However, this time I wanted better results that were still done at a reasonable price. I reviewed approximately seven different tailors on Yelp. I discovered that Five Star Tailor Shop had excellent reviews and when I called in, "Sergio" was polite and helpful. I dropped off four pairs of shorts on Tuesday and they were ready by Wednesday. The work was top notch and was completed with a meticulous finish and was much better than what I've previously received with other tailors. Their prices were fair and a great value with one of the coupons that they provided. I will be back and I'm hoping that Sergio will continue to be my go-to tailor for any future alterations. Sergio is one of the best tailors I've ever visited. I've been going to him since 2009 before he opened up his own shop. I was referred to him through a friend and now almost my entire group of friends on the west side (guys and girls) go to him. This is the first review I've ever written but he's worth it. I've had multiple suits (Theory, John Varvatos, etc) tailored by him. He's taken in the jacket, shortened the sleeves, tapered the sleeves, tapered pants, the whole 9 yards. What I love about Sergio is his impeccable attention detail. He's spent so much time with me (because of my pickiness) trying to figure out how to best please me. If I don't like the way something fits afterward (again because of my indecision) he's always happy to take it in a little more or let it out a bit free of charge so that I'm happy. AND he always does it with a smile! Super friendly! I've also taken handful pairs of jeans to him (Seven, Joes, etc) and he tapers perfectly and does one of the best original hems (not that shady lazy work some tailors do by just sewing it in on the inside). It's gotten to the point where Ive take old jeans to him to fit better and they come out like new. I've also taken other peoples work for him to redo. Sergio's prices are fair. The westside is always a little more pricey than other areas in LA (eg the valley, dtla) but I've shopped around to well reviewed tailors (in Brentwood, valley, dtla) and for the quality of work, service, and prices Sergio just can't be beat. And if you become a regular he always tries to make you even happier ;) ! I travel across town to see him!! read more

I cannot believe the lack of service here. I have gone twice and both times, I was severely disappointed. I dropped off a jacket to be sewn and cleaned and when I came back to pick it up at the appointed time, they had only sewn it and forgot to clean it. Okay, not enough to stop me from coming back but on the second time I dropped off a dress and asked that it be rushed as much as possible. I dropped it off Saturday and they said it would be ready Tuesday afternoon. I should have known but when I came by on Tuesday evening (around 6 PM) it was not ready. So they said they would drop it off at my house that evening once they cleaned it. Great, but no one comes by. The next day (Wednesday), I called to follow up and they had forgot about it. Literally said, Oh, I forgot. I've never really experienced the ball being completely dropped twice in a row on the main service a place provides (dry cleaning). PS I find it a little expensive too. $12 for a dress and $30 for sewing one tear in the lining and dry cleaning a jacket. Ugh, I am so frustrated that I've made three separate trips to this place and only once was I able to pick up what I needed. What a waste of time. read more

I read great Yelp reviews about Sergio, so I decided to come here. He was very friendly and everything, but I thought it was too pricy for the amount of work done (hemming jeans.) Upon picking up and paying for my order, I asked to use a 20% off new customer coupon that was posted on their website, but was informed that since I didn't mention it when I first came in to drop the jeans off, I couldn't use it. That said, I appreciate the work done, but I am hesitant to return here for other tailoring needs because I don't feel like being (over)charged. read more

Soooo.... Last year, for my birthday, my Pop gave me my Grandfather's Pea coat from his time in the Navy during World War II... This coat is a BEAUTIFUL piece. Very old school and I'm the 3rd generation of men in my family to have the honor of wearing it. However, it did not fit me right at all... Too big and boxy, slightly too long... I had a little under a week before I was headed to NYC for the holidays this past year... I looked all over the westside for a decent tailor at a manageable price... Let me tell you, they are RARE... I asked my Pop, and he got a recommendation from my step brother... This led me to Sergio... I was greeted with the warmest welcome. He jumped at the challenge of getting my coat in tip top shape with such limited time... He had me in and told me exactly how he was going to fix it up, I left it with him and he said to come back on that Saturday just to make sure it was all good... And boy, when I put that coat on Saturday... WOOOOO... I felt slicker than a thousand cans of spilled oil. He had me looking RIGHT... Now, he is the most reasonably priced tailor I found, but I'm a struggling actor, and sometimes the cash flow just ain't there. I let him know my situation, and he even tweaked the price for me a little because he liked me and liked working on the coat... Now THAT is a man who takes pride in his work, and his love will show on any piece you bring him... Need an adjustment? Do yourself a favor and go see Sergio at 5 Star Tailor. I drove around Venice, visited a couple tailors and asked if they could repair a ruined hem on a pair of jeans.  I simply wanted the quality to match the original.  None could promise me this.  Walked in here and Sergio said, yes I can definitely do that.  I appreciate when someone proclaims confidence in their ability.  When I picked it up, not only was it good as new, but he took extra yarn from the jeans and used it for the hem.  So the color didn't just match, it came from the jean itself.  Awesome work, will definitely come back. read more

I've never left a Yelp review until now... Incredibly disappointing work and customer service. After getting a dress wrong twice when I took it in for EASY tailoring (to be taken in a bit, and the lining removed). The first attempt to pick it up, the seams were diagonal, the ENDS of the dress didn't even match up, and ALL OF THE LINING WAS STILL THERE! After he said he'd fix it, I made the mistake of picking it up and not trying it on because, frankly, how could it not be right after fixing, and fixing again?? But it was wrong, and weird, and unwearable. Only half of the lining had been removed, leaving fabric dangling at the waistline and in the back... what?? Yeah... Insane. I called and asked for a refund, because bringing it in a 3rd time seemed ridiculous as I'd lost all confidence in him getting this done properly. He was so nice when I first brought the item in, so I thought he would be understanding and reasonable. But now Sergio was SO RUDE, insisting that taking out the lining had been TOO MUCH WORK, so leaving random bits of it in was the best and cheapest solution. I asked him why, instead of just doing a hack-job, he didn't just tell me it couldn't be done properly--to which he had no response. He also said he would give no refund because he had done the work. When I had originally asked about the lining he said, "Sure! No problem!" Had I known it was impossible, I WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN IT DONE! Certainly the weird clumpy bits of fabric now dangling in weird places is not a solution--it bunches under the dress and makes it uncomfortable and very unflattering. After explaining that my BRAND NEW dress (tags still on) was now un-returnable and un-wearable, he got very hostile, and told me I could bring it in and he would "take a look", but there is no way he was giving me any money back. I obviously don't want to bring my dress in again to a hostile, incompetent man who was yelling at me when all I said was that I was "disappointed", and wished he had told me that what I wanted was not possible. I honestly don't understand. I paid this man for a service. He assured me it could be done. He couldn't perform it. He ruined the dress. I should be allowed a refund. It's pretty simple. Sergio is a very unprofessional and sloppy tailor. I brought several sport coats and pants to his shop several weeks ago. Not only did he delay the pickup date twice so far, the finished product showed very little attention to detail and very poor taste. You shouldn't go here if you need major work done on anything expensive. The guy just doesn't have the skill to cut it. There are several other tailors in the area who are less expensive, do a faster job, and produce a better product. read more

WOW! HORRRRRRRRRRIBLE WORK!!! I brought two dresses in: I dropped a bridesmaid dress in that needed to be taken in and dry cleaned to remove a small pen mark. They had my dress for TWO MONTHS and the alterations was HORRIBLE. The seams were wavy and already fraying when I picked up my dress. The pen mark had been BLEACHED OUT (on sheer fabric) so not only was the color stripped but the fabric was shredding from the chemicals. He then decided that glueing some of the extra fabric to the back of the bleached spot ON SHEER FABRIC would be a great idea! Even told me that the dress looked better than before when I showed up for my dress. The $300+ dress was completely ruined and still didn't fit. It wasn't actually cleaned (just bleached in that one spot) wasn't pressed and had an added stain. Possibly the WORST craftsmanship I HAVE EVER SEEN and all I got when I went to pick it up was "I'm sorry, can you pay me for the work I've done?" WHAT????? IS THIS REAL LIFE? Never in my life have I seen such a horrendous job. How is this place in business??? The second dress just needed to be taken in and hemmed and the hem was already coming apart when I picked that one up as well. When I brought my ruined bridesmaid dress to someone else to see what could be done (with the wedding two weeks away) they were SHOCKED at the alterations that were made. The drunken sloppy hemlines, the ripped or fraying seams and the obvious shredded/bleached/glued spot RIGHT in the FRONT of the dress and could not believe someone with a business actually did such terrible work. I WOULD NEVER BRING ANYTHING HERE UNLESS YOU WANT IT RUINED!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! GO TO GRAND CUSTOM TAILORS IN SANTA MONICA IF YOU NEED ALTERATIONS MADE BC THIS PLACE IS THE WORST!!! read more
