However, Travis had a cost effective resolution which was, to build a cement threshold and create a tiled backdoor entryway. At 11:30, I received a call from the tech, telling me that his last appointment had run longer than expected, which was acceptable to me, because that can happen. He told me that he was 15-20 minutes away. He finally arrived at around 12:30 and told me that he had punched the wrong address into his GPS and had gone in the wrong direction. (This was interesting, because their office is on W. Hausman and I live off of Hausman less than 2 miles from their office.) Their process is to give you a quote, so I showed him what I wanted done. Replace the batteries in 7 smoke detectors, replace a single 22" wide Venetian blind and mount a battery operated Ring camera at our back door. No parts required, just labor. He told me that it would take him about 2 hours, but that he would need to go out to his truck to prepare a price quote for me. After about 15 minutes, he came with his price. His price was $468.00, which I declined. I forgot to ask whether that included an elderly discount. I located a different Handyman on Thumbtack. His price was $140 and it took him an hour and 10 minutes to complete the work. I gave him 5 stars.
