We had the pleasure of working with Roseann Shannon and her staff at 5 Star Mortgage during our recent home purchase. Roseann was extremely thorough in arranging our lending. She saw us all the way through process, and was even thoughtful enough to make an appearance at our signing at the title company, and brought us a closing gift. I would highly recommend 5 Star Mortgage if you're in need of a home loan! read more

I had the misfortune of having to deal with loan officer Chris Casiello for a short amount of time and that was more than enough. He was rude, arrogant with little to no business demeanor. I've seen another complaint against him on Yelp in January and there is no doubt that there are more that have not spoken up. I contacted the owner, Roseann Shannon, who was sent an email and a letter via the post office regarding his conduct but she has denied receipt of any correspondence. Thankfully there are numerous lenders who are a pleasure to deal with. UPDATE: The comment from the owner of the company, which has been removed, made me LOL literally !! She has no idea of what took place prior to this incident I am referring to and she has never bothered to find out so fabricated a story to suit her needs. Additionally, she has called my office and made threats against me if I didn't remove this Yelp posting. I have the written documentation of my complaint against her loan officer, therefore, continue to stand by it. read more

This was such a frustrating process. We are young first-time homebuyers and obviously had a lot of questions about the process. Chris was our loan officer, and he was very unprofessional and was terrible at communicating. A week before our closing date, he was supposed to call us as we had a few questions and concerns. We were emailing and calling every day but did not hear from him until Monday afternoon, two days before closing. His assistant, Ann, however, was so pleasant to work with and always replied in a timely manner. We will never use this company again and will not recommend this company to any of our family or friends. read more

We worked with Darrian at the recommendation of our realtor. Her and her team are very knowledgeable and efficient in helping you determine what is the best way to finance your home purchase. They are very committed to helping their clients through the seemingly endless requests for documentation that lenders need to underwrite the loan. They provide easy to understand communication and are there to help with any questions you might have. We would recommend Five Star Mortgage and Darrian in particular for your mortgage needs. read more

I can't say enough amazing things about Five Star. My loan officers Heath and Susan were miracle workers. I went from seeing my dream house drop into my price range to moving into my new home in 30 days. They were super honest, direct, and didn't sugar coat anything, yet gave me positive news as soon as they received it. They communicate consistently, explain everything and as a first time home buyer there is zero chance I could have gotten into my dream home without them. I was full of stress and questions and their patience was never ending. I am absolutely living my best life because of these two and I am incredibly grateful. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Five Star mortgage. This is our second time securing a loan through them. The first experience is what lead us back to them. They work with you every step of the way and make things seem less and so easy. I can't imagine buying a home without them. Roger has always been personally interested in our journey and provided all the support you need securing a loan. He is very thorough and communicates on a daily basis. We were never left wondering or not knowing where we were in the process. Nothing but five stars for five star mortgage read more

Roseann and her team responded to every question I had when I was looking to refinance to a streamline loan. No question was ignored and I got a straight forward answer every time. Some of the flyers I would get just sounded too good to be true and Roseann would always confirm or tell me the options of paying for points would mean. I truly valued her expertise. If you want a team that treats you with courtesy and not like just another number, this company is for you! read more

Worst company we ever dealt with. Made many promises and guarantees and kept none of them. Promised to pay off our back taxes and lower our mortgage rates. Did neither. BEWARE. Your reply is incorrect. Don't know what you're talking about, but we were promised ALL of our back taxes would be paid and mortgage payments would be lower. We advised you of the amount and we were told not to worry.MORE LIES. We were never told some of the things that you said in your reply. We repeatedly told you the amount that was owed. We couldn't have asked for a better Mortgage Broker to help my family and I buy a home during a pandemic! I was referred to Five Star from a friend who has used them. From day 1, Chris helped me every step of the way, from the initial approval process, to all the paperwork involved, especially when bidding on several houses. He and the team answered every question (and there were a lot, for me, being a first time buyer) and made what I thought would give me a nervous breakdown, an extremely smooth and professional process, all the way until we were signing the final paperwork! Would definitely recommend! read more

My wife and I can not speak highly enough for Roseann! She is a superbly professional broker, insanely dedicated to getting a deal done. Was always there when we needed her. She kept our deal alive when we received a horribly incompetent appraisal. Her expertise and tenacity allowed the deal to be done. She guided us well and gave us the advice when needed. We will be using her again for a refinance. read more

My husband and I were on the market to buy our very first house, and we couldnt get many people to respond back or even get them on the phone let alone an appointment. We were referred to Roseann by one of my husbands friends, and thank goodness. She is amazing, she made it all happen and got us into our first home and it was quick! We told her we were on a month and half time frame and she made it happen. We even closed a week early!! read more

My husband and I were the buyers (with my husband being the buying agent) of 4 investment properties and chose to employ the services of Brenton Van with 5 Star Mortgage. He had recently completed a refinance on our personal home, and despite it taking him twice as long as a refinance should take a broker to accomplish, we chose to give him the benefit of the doubt, and utilize his services for our investment purchases. Throughout the two and a half months we dealt with Brenton, we experienced innumerable aggravations, both personally and secondhand by all three of the selling agents we were working with, regarding Brentons mind-boggling lack of communication, disregard for timely professionalism, and an overall cavalier attitude towards customer service in general. Regardless, we chose to remain optimistic in our dealings with 5 Star Mortgage. Against our better judgment and recommendation from two of the selling agents to utilize a different mortgage company altogether, we chose to continue working with Brenton in hopes that he would live up to the 5 Star mantra of "Service is OUR specialty." This failed to materialize. Two and a half months had gone by since our contracts first went into effect, and the endless runaround we got from Brenton ultimately concluded with us losing two of the four condos, and Brenton stating that our "Financing has been extremely difficult, and we should just pick one or both (of the remaining two properties), and pay cash." While we did not appreciate receiving a message from him stating that, I find it grossly negligent that he failed to make those recommendation weeks or months prior to the expected close of escrow, before the earnest money deposit became irrevocable. Notwithstanding the $100 per day late fees that we began accruing on 9/18/2020. Brenton acknowledged in a text message that those late fees were due to his inadequate ability to get our deal to closing. He waited 75 days to admit to us that "Condos are too hard" of a loan for himself, or 5 Star Mortgage to accomplish. Regrettably, at that point, we were so deep into our loan deal, we still chose to attempt to stick it out with Brenton, despite further pressure from our two extremely displeased selling agents, to quit him, quit 5 Star, and go elsewhere. Out of desperation and fear of losing our remaining two condos, we (unfruitfully) reached out to the 5 Star Mortgage branch Manager Roseann Shannon via email. She stated, and I quote; "I dont know why Brenton accepted these deals to begin with because condos are too hard." Additionally, Roseann disclosed that she was also aware that the lender canceled our deals two business days prior to our ultimate falling out with Brenton! Why didn't they reveal this to us??!!! We nearly lost our two remaining condos and $7,000 in earnest money, while simultaneously racking up several $100 per day fines because of Brentons incompetence, and Roseann's lack of willingness to take control of the spiraling situation. In the end, we went elsewhere and successfully obtained ownership of two investment properties. It is an understatement to say we are EXTREMELY disappointed with 5 Star Mortgage, Brenton Van, Roseann Shannon, and their disgusting display of arrogance and lack of care for their customers. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I am a first time home buyer and ended up with a terrible real estate agent who ran me in circles and couldn't get me approved with misleading information and confusion about the entire process until I was referred to Brenton Van. Everything went so much smoother with his help knowing he was trying his best to get everything done in the short time frame I had. Terrible experience turned out amazing! I have a manufactured home. It is incredibly hard to find a bank willing to do a refinance. (Don't know why) After calling many banks, and the one my loan was currently through, and having them tell me they couldn't help me I was ready to give up. THEN Roseann Shannon contacted me when I went on a website to search for mortgage brokers. She worked with me, told me what I needed and found a bank willing to refi my home and included extra money so I could do some home improvements. Even though I "flaked out" on the first signing (I saw a house that I really wanted to buy instead) she still helped me. I signed my refi papers on the 24th of February and I'm happy I'm staying in my current home. She found me a great rate and I wasn't charged and arm and a leg. I will recommend Roseann AND Five Star Mortgage to anyone that needs some help with someone who treats you kindly! read more
