They have 5 scratchers machine plus at the counter, so they always have plenty of scratchers on deck. I also saw someone won $2 million. I love 5 Star Liquor so much. This place has sold MULTIPLE winning tickets. With 5 scratcher machines, Hot Spot running almost every hour and people coming in every day to play California's club keno game, you won't be disappointed. Five Star Liquor gives FIVE STAR SERVICE! This shop has changed COMPLETELY since my last review... FIVE years ago. There was a change of ownership - and while the previous owners before were always friendly and cordial, they really allowed their store to go downhill. Since the change of ownership, this store has done a complete 360. All the old, rusty shelves were replaced with elegant, black shelves, and the liquor/beer/spirits selection has greatly improved. There are hundreds of different wines, beer, IPAs, and spirits all elegantly placed and competitively priced. There's a great selection of non-alcoholic beverages as well (water, juices, soda) and snacks. Sure, the prices here are maybe one or two dollars higher than Bevmo or Total Wine - but remember the CONVENIENCE you are paying for - you don't need to navigate some massive parking lot, go through endless aisles and wait in long lines - you get a great selection here, shorter or no wait time, personalized service (by the very knowledgeable owner) and the slightly higher cost is definitely worth it. I was able to snag a decent Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey gift set with a branded glass for ($24) at my most recent visit today. They also have Crater Lake Espresso Vodka ($30) - which I don't see in many liquor stores because it's native to the Pacific Northwest - I only knew of it because I was able to try it on a recent Alaska Airlines flight. Of course, no respectable liquor store is complete without a large selection of lottery products. This store is lucky - they've sold in recent years a couple of high-dollar prizes, as proven by the giant "promotional" California Lottery check posters they have displayed - one scratcher sold here had a prize of $750K - so you can imagine this is a popular spot when the jackpots get large. The owner is friendly and always remembers my name, as well as gives great recommendations when I'm looking for a special wine or spirit. Parking is easy - plenty of spots in this smaller strip mall, and if parking ever gets really bad, there is additional parking in the back of the store. Yikes. Can't remember the last time I was treated so poorly by ownership. Will look for other stores in the area and not support this one.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.... We were extremely late for a birthday party, and, we were not about to show up empty handed. I yelped a couple of liquor stores in the area but none seemed to carry what we like. Five Star Liquor was around the corner and we stopped in. My hubby gave me a thumbs up and $200 dollars later, he walked out with "Blue Label" bottle. I sat outside and looked in, I was very impressed with the selection of wine, beer, and alcohol. read more

Why would anyone give Five Star Liquor less than 5 stars is beyond me. They have the nicest people working there. I think I've interacted with at least 5 different cashiers and they were all courteous and friendly. And it's genuine not fake. I haven't bought liquor there yet but I know they have a wide variety & around Xmas they had really cute gift sets. I go for the lottery tickets and scratchers!! They always have the new games the day they come out and besides the 2 cases full of tickets they have at the counter they have I think 5 ticket dispensers too!!! read more

It really pains me to give these guys this rating, because the dudes are pretty nice from my experience, but this rating is purely based on principle. A few times I've come here, I've seen some OBSCENELY old beer. Just a few months back, I was going to grab a six pack of Bells' Two Hearted Ale, until I read the label. Bottled on 09/18/16. A pale, bottled in SIXTEEN! This was in January. More than a year old. I excused that and kept coming here, making sure to check the label on everything before I buy it. Until tonight. I grabbed a bomber of Stone's Give Me IPA or Give Me Death. Paid for it, left. Checked the date on my way back to my car, and it was bottled in January of 2017! More than a year ago! IPA's lose their hoppy character after like 3 months and turn into malt bombs after that! I understand this is a liquor store, but seriously! Come on, man! Trying to sell pale ales that are more than a year old to unsuspecting patrons is fucking cheap business tactics. This is inexcusable, even for a liquor store. read more

This store has changed dramatically in the past 2-3 years so any reviews before that a pretty irrelevant. When I first found this place it was simple convenience, being that it was on the way home from picking up my son from middle school. It was a fine place to grab a bag of chips and a drink for the kids, and something a little stronger for me to deal with the nightly homework debacle. Nothing to wrote home about, just your basic neighborhood store. Then everything changed. I'm not sure if the ownership changed, or they decided to take a more hands-on approach to their business. But the change has been amazing in so many ways. First, the couple who owns it, and runs it with their sons, are some the most endearing, and gracious people you will ever meet. They don't stand blankly behind the register playing with their phones, only to look up long enough to grab your cash. No. They are engaged in every aspect of their store. They have been making improvements and renovations that have transformed it from looking like a tornado had swept up the debris from a white-trash beer pong marathon, a half-beaten pinata, and the shrine of an Asian nail salon, and puked it all out on to the shelves. Yuck. Now, there is a beautiful cigar room, which apparently has to be temperature and humidity controlled. I don't have any interest in cigars, but the room is cool, and the husband owner is very thrilled about it. He showed me his selections just for fun, and I have to say it almost made me decide to pick up the cigar habit!! Kidding, but it really is an impressive room. Not your typical hole-in-the-wall store. They also replaced all the coolers with matching, elegant black ones that completely improved the overall ambience of the store. Ambience, in a liquor store? Yep. They added beautiful shelving where the pricey bottles are showcased along the back wall. The best part has been watching the couple working towards their dream together. How often to do you people putting passion into their work? I think they are the biggest reason the store feels so much more welcoming. They connect with customers in a way that I rarely see. I can't count the awesome recommendations they have given me. And it is never a simple, "Oh try this it's good." The wife owner has taken the time to show me how to prepare a ouzo drink from her native Lebanon with all the cultural facts and the little glass. And they have some pretty obscure and interesting items that I have not seen anywhere. They also order things if you ask for them. The wife has stocked things I casually mention and never expected her to get. I look forward to chatting with them, and it seems a lot of the other customers feel the same. It is not as grand as High Times, but it has a charming neighborhood feeling that I like. read more

I wish my experience at this place was one that was positive but when I came in around 9:45 to 10, I was met by a very rude clerk who seemed like he didn't want to be there or give a damn about customers being in the store. I felt as if he was trying to rush me out of the store. I will not be coming back to this liquor store and neither will my friends and family. read more
