We picked everything up the day of the shower and everything was beautifully plated unless we needed to heat something. I highly recommend Maggie Cooks to cater your party!

When we moved "out to the burbs" a few years ago we wanted to entertain family along with new and old friends. What makes working with Maggie and Jane so great is that they work with you to customize each occasion. Whether you want formal plated courses, passed hors d'oeuvres, or family style brunch, they deliver delicious options time after time. Those of you who would rather enjoy your guests than take credit for the delicious food you are pretending to churn out in the kitchen can hire a server(s) to help. Reasonable prices, quality ingredients, and a business who delivers on what is agreed is all we can ask. Maggie Cooks excels in providing memorable meals and experiences without ever having to leave home.

Westfield Caterers is misnamed. They were once located in Westfield, then moved to Scotch Plains…read moreon Park Avenue. Now, their kitchen is in Garwood. So the name is somewhat strange, but the sandwiches, potato salad and cole slaw are not strange at all. Paul and his assistant were the caterers at my mother's 100th birthday party held at the All Saints' Episcopal church in Scotch Plains. Paul arrived on time. Immediately he and Lisa started setting up the sandwiches on platters, arranging and labeling all the sandwiches. They also brought a large fruit tray. We had about 60 people and Paul's sandwiches were plenty for this crowd, with about a dozen left over at the end. Lisa was terrific, constantly re-arranging the sandwiches so they looked tidy. She even went throughout the room with a tray of cut pieces of birthday cake and brought drinks to those people sitting down. She was excellent and polite to everyone. I highly recommend Westfield Caterers for your next big party - they had everything under control. The only part that I did not like, is that Paul asked for the entire payment (~$1000) before the party. I thought that was a bit off. I wanted to see how they did before I paid the second half of the fee. In fact, they did fine, and I paid promptly afterwards.

Their food is good but their customer service is poor. Over the years we've probably spent thousands of dollars with them. Today We ordered $120 worth of food. Even though I am a Louis Prima fan (sorry for the obscure reference) the bone to meat ratio just doesn't make up for the higher fat content. At least for me. This guys ribs changed that. You don't eat these ribs so much as you hold them up and allow the meat to dive into your mouth like an Olympian off the 10 meter platform. They are that good. And I have eaten enough brisket in my life that writing a review including a reference to pork is probably something I shouldn't do publicly, but his is top notch. Lastly, I come on this site and often see reviews regarding the personal nature of the proprietor of the business, which are sometimes so vicious and misplaced, it is not a mystery why the writers of South Park want to feed some of the members of this site what they want to feed them. To that end, if you have a problem with either Dan or his staff, I would have to say that the problem is most likely with you. They couldn't be nicer, more courteous and helpful. I know that sounds like a lot for serving somebody BBQ but those fairgrounds on a weekend can be a certified nuthouse. At no time did I see anyone lose their patience or desire to help the customers. Five stars all the way.
