My daughter has an old Santa Fe and he gave us a laundry list of issues with the car, many of which would be very expensive to repair. When our car broke down in the middle of the highway, we relied on our insurance company to tow it to Five Star Auto. However, despite explaining our circumstances to the owner and expressing our urgency, it was disheartening to receive a refusal for help. We emphasized that we were not locals and were unfamiliar with the area, and we were willing to give them ample time to work on the car. However, they were unable or unwilling to accommodate our needs. In times of distress, it's important to find service providers who are compassionate and understanding, especially when we are not familiar with the area. It's unfortunate that our experience with Five Star Auto fell short, but remember that there are many other professionals who are ready to provide the help and understanding you deserve in such situations. I was driving home from LA to the Bay Area when my car started overheating and blowing smoke from the hood. I was able to pull off the freeway and walk to this place where the owner said he was closing soon but would take a look for $150. when I brought the car over he went over the issue with us and showed us inside the car what the issue was. my radiator lid had come off and so all the fluid was gone and my car was overheating. he said he could fix it by noon the next day but many times it's more than the radiator and so even if he fixed that I might get down the road and have another issue. I appreciated his honesty. he could have taken the money and not been honest with us, but instead he advised us to tow the car back which was at no benefit to him. furthermore he waived the $150 inspection fee and allowed us to leave the car inside his facility while we figured out getting a U-Haul to tow the car back to the Bay Area. this is exactly the kind of customer service one hopes to get when visiting any mechanic but especially when you're in an unfamiliar place and in a compromised position. thank you so much. you have no idea how much your kindness meant to us! it honestly made the terrible situation feel like we had found a silver lining. read more

I moved to Castaic two years ago and after asking the locals where I should go, I got several responses for Sargon at Five Star Auto. He is by far the best mechanic I've dealt with. He's very honest, very fast, and very reasonable. His prices are always under what I expect, which is a great thing. I usually call the day I need help with my car and he'll give me a drop off time immediately. He looks at the problem and calls me with the cost first before proceeding. I usually only take my cars to the dealership for an oil change to keep up my warranty. I bring my cars to Sargon for everything else. He is the best and I don't think his prices can be beaten. You will find fancier places to spend money on your car in the SCV. You will find nicer store fronts in newly built stucco strip malls. You will be hard pressed to find honesty, sincerity and quality like this. The owner, Sargon, tells you what the situation is, gives you options and guides you in the right direction to fix the issues with your car and nothing more. He doesn't upsell, doesn't try to solve problems he can't (transmission rebuild, for example) and overall provides the kind of service you expect at the price you want to pay. I have frequented many other repair shops in the SCV, always underwhelmed by their lack of personal service. Broken down car on the I5 leaving the LA Basin. Called friends to see where I should take it. They suggested Five Star Auto Clinic in Castaic. The tow truck dropped me off there and I was underwhelmed by the appearance. The sign was fading; the doors gated up. I awoke the next morning and gave a call. He said he'd have time to work on it. Sounded very genuine and sincere on the phone. I arrived and was greeted with "That's your Honda out front, right?" He looked at it and fixed stuff. I came back three hours later and he told me to take it for a local drive before heading back to the Bay Area. Good thing too--The emissions warning light reappeared. He's going to drive out somewhere to get the VTEC part for the engine and then have it ready for me by noon tomorrow. What's amazing is his honesty, and incredible customer service. He delivered another client to her home, and drove me ten miles away, before speeding off to get the part for the car. Sargan is trustworthy, knowledgable and affordable! My car was shaking when ever I drove on the freeway and my AC made my car shake even when stopped. I took my car to 2 other places before I decided that I would go with 5 Star Auto Clinic. The first place told me one thing, the 2nd place told me a completely different/unrelated thing. When Sargan checked out my car, without me telling him about the other inspections, he found both issues that were previously brought to my attention from the other repair shops. This assured me that he was detailed in his inspection. He told me what I could wait to do in the future and what I should do immediately. He quoted me a price less than the other two repair shops. When I got my car back, I wanted to twirl around and sing with joy! I don't remember the last time my car was so quiet and didn't sound like a diesel truck, especially when the AC was on. Final bill came to over $800 without notifying me of the increase until I picked up the car. Also failed to fix other issues with the car or advise me they needed to be done until after I picked vehicle. Car still has same problems I needed repaired.
