There is NOTHING fancy about this place-- if you are up for a burger and fries (they offer hot dogs and other items as well, just haven't tried them), and don't want to make a production of it, go on their app (which works really well) to order and food will be ready in 10 minutes. Been here even before, and I can understand the price increase, but I think they've gone too pricey and becoming a hit or miss. They became inconsistent with the flavors and service. One day burger is good, but service is bad. Next visit, service is friendly, but food is bland or burnt. I have been to five guys 500 times all over the East Coast. Most stores are 3 1/2 stars, every once in a while you get a really good one. Good means: -They give you what you order -The food looks and tastes good -You don't have to wait forever -The place is clean Including the bathroom I know it's Covid, and I know winter is here and that is probably souring my mood, but... When I order a veggie sandwich all the way, it should come the same way the burger comes all the way, with ketchup, mustard, pickles. Today, it did not. Also the burger was very disheveled, the cheese was crumbling into pieces, and there was hardly any bacon or pepper. They were nice enough to give me a cup of pickles and mustard, so I made do. I ordered well-done fries with no salt. The first time they came with tons of salt. To their credit, they reminded me to pick up my glasses on the counter, so I said don't worry about the no salt, and they insisted on making it again, which I appreciate it, kudos to the gentleman who took my order and seems to run the place. But the second time, they forgot to make them well done. And she forgot to shake it free of oil, very gross. Stuffing 14 napkins in the bag doesn't make things better! They get all oily! They also stopped offering the coffee shake, which is the only one I like. He wanted to make sure I would come back. There's not a lot of reason for me to come back. The only way I will is if they contact me here and ask me to, assuring me they brought back the coffee shake, and they will get my order right including all of my comments above. Thanks for reading. Dec 2022: 5: I would recommend this restaurant location and this work crew. They were keeping things together and the cashier knows her customers and is a "Shake Master".. LoL searched the nearby area for decent fast food restaurants and found that this one was fairly close, within a few minutes away. Upon arrival, I found a parking spot fairly quickly and noticed that the restaurant was facing the main street. I almost passed the access area due to night hours and construction. I entered the ramp door to the restaurant and was greeted by the cashier. She gave me a quick reference introduction to the restaurant so placing my order was a bit more accurate for me. She also gave me a few pointers on the shake I eventually settled on getting with my meal. I was served the shake and she nailed the taste I was seeking by just a few words and answers by her to understand what I wanted to have at the time. #43, I paid and moved on. I observed that the restaurant was actively being cleaned and maintained during my visit. My drink was set....now let's see if the burger is good. I received my order and noted the extra fries in the bag. It's always great to get the leftovers in the bag. It's like a surprise after finishing the others... LoL. I did try some of the condiments as well. The burger was made well as expected, but I think that I should have gotten the bigger one because it was gone way too soon. This is a brand spanking new location so it still like a shiny new penny. I am glad this opened because the closest ones to me are kind of far. If you have been to a Five Guys, this is not different. It is a good burger and fries - fast and efficient. This location has the drink machine my kids like that mixes all kind of flavor variations. One thing diiffernt with this one - they have shakes. The shakes are very thick but they use fresh ingrediants and you can tell. My son got a cherry that he could not finish, so lucky me I got to try it. I don't even like cherry and this was a really flavorful. My only issues and it is no fault of their own but this location is on Needham Street and the traffic going in or coming out will be a nightmare. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I ordered online an hour before arriving at Five Guys, because I thought that would give ample time to prepare my order. Upon walking up to the pick up counter, multiple employees kept asking me for my name and order confirmation, and each time I pulled up my phone to show the email confirmation of the online order I placed. According to the employee, she said that their computer did not see my order. I confirmed with her that I placed the order to the correct Five Guys location at the right date and time, and that the money already left my credit card. After asking me about my name again, she gave me a barely working pen and a piece of paper bag and told me to write down my long order by hand. I've ordered food for pick up so many times before, but this is the first time where I had to hand write a long order with all the toppings in the burgers. While I was confirming with this female employee that they did not indeed have my order and that there were no other way to pull up my order details other than me handwriting my order, a young female employee yelled at me as if it's my fault that their computer is malfunctioning. I did not expect to be yelled at when I just came to pick up my online order. Five Guys needs to retrain these employees on how to properly resolve situations like this where it was their fault that their computer did not register my order instead of yelling at a customer and telling the customer to write their order by hand. Moreover, I also had a lot of hard time understanding the employees due to their accent, which made the situation even more stressful. After they got my order on their paper bag, I had to wait another 10 minutes for my order that should have been ready when I walked in. This is pointless if I still have to wait for an online order I placed 1 HOUR before arriving to pick up. I am very dissatisfied with the service at this Newton branch and will never come back to order from this place and will let others know to not go to this place. read more

Is it safe to say there's been an explosion of "upscale" burger joints the past ten years? I guess the actual term is "gourmet fast food." Places like Chipotle, Shake Shack, Otto Pizza, Jimmy John's, even Wahlburgers.... seek to "upscale" the fast food genre. Five Guys is no exception. Originally from Virginia, this chain has been franchised hot-and-heavy the past few years. Their service and performance is admirable, and their burgers are always tasty. To the concept and execution and overall deliciousness of Five Guys, I'd give it 4 or 5 stars. But this particular location gets only 3. It happens to be particularly about food handling and cleanliness. More often than not the dining area feels a bit dirty. And the fry vats put off copious amounts of steam/smoke/oils, even into the dining area ( the casualty of an open-concept kitchen). While they keep their work areas visually clean, I noticed a food-handling no-no: the burger gal, wearing the same gloves through the entire process - flipped patties, grabbed the raw patty container, placed patties on the griddle, put the container back in the fridge, used the patty presser to press them down flat, then added cheese to other burger patties before they were placed onto their respective pre-planned buns. Do you get that? While *maybe* you can touch certain equipment (I don't know the public health care policy regarding this), touching cheese that never reaches a high (safe) temp to kill raw meat bacteria with the same gloves you just handled raw meat with moments earlier certainly cannot be a good thing. Until the franchisee gets the correct food handling policies across to all employees, I can only recommend this particular location with strong caution. tastes better than mcd's and bk and they have hot dogs. Service is decent and burgers are made to order, just watch them! Cleanliness is a bit shotty...you have to pick you table wisely. But I usually get the burger to go. The most recent time I went burgers were great...but the fries...oh myy was there a lot of salt. I literally poured the salt out of the bag and there was a spoonful! I will definitly ask for my fries without salt in the future, don't really need it anyways. When it comes to burgers, I feel like Shake Shack and In and Out are always the first places to get discussed, but everyone, I mean everyone is out here sleeping on Five Guys. Five Guys is definitely my favorite burger chain. The vibe of the place is awesome because they have signs all over the walls with what people have said about the chain in the past, and there are buckets of peanuts all over the place, so you never go hungry while waiting in line. I guess that might be the one downfall of the place as well; DO NOT go here if you have a peanut allergy. The food, on the other hand, is always fantastic, and I have never had a bad experience. You can add as many toppings as you would like free of charge, so you can keep things simple with maybe some ketchup, mustard, and bacon like I do or really jazz it up. The fries are awesome. They are hand cut, and they sure do taste like it. Oh and did I mention the milkshakes. You can mix as many flavors as you want! My favorite creation is the oreo cherry...so delicious! I asked for swiss cheese on a burger and instead of politely telling me that they didn't have that kind of cheese the girl on the phone cut me off mid-sentence and bluntly said "We don't have that." This is one of the best Five Guys locations I have been to. The service is great, they always greet you with a smile and are very friendly. The food is as good as any Five Guys, and I happen to be a huge fan! The burgers are always made to order and the toppings are fresh and delicious. I always order the bacon cheeseburger with pickles and onions. One of my favorite parts of Five Guys is that all their burgers are available bunless! While most places give you the crazy eyes, I like that they not only welcome it but advertise it. This location in particular is super clean. read more

Had a basic cheeseburger the other day-all kids, early college age, summer job types. Cheeseburger rang in at a shade under 10 bucks with no additional toppings. I mean it was ok, fresh, maybe i'm not up to speed with inflation costs, transportation, etc. but a ten buck cheese burger seems obscene to this old schooler. Have been to other 5 guys before and was similarly underwhelmed and overcharged. I just don't get the appeal. Haven't been to shake shack, in and out or HABIT in Wilmington. Had been to Wu burger Woburn years ago and i recall it was decent, but still don't get the appeal of paying more than is warranted for a burger. The BEST burgers i ever have are ALWAYS what i customize at home with grass fed beef. If i'm in a pinch or a hurry, i am more than satisfied with a Wendy's or even a quarter pounder for okay quality. Ideally, no burger should cost more than 5 or 6 bucks unless it's ultra gourmet. read more
