Great to be able to provide a more recent review of Kailo Acupunture and Massage!…read more I am very pleased with the treatment I received from Alexis Yeh. As a new patient, I received a full consultation during which time Alexis and I discussed the reasons for the visit. Afterwards, she made sure to provide my every comfort (heated massage table, choice of soothing music, additional blankets) and explained to me the type of acupuncture/massage methods she would use. Alexis checked in with me at regular intervals and she also provided great conversation not related to the treatment. I felt relaxed, welcomed, energized, respected. About four days later, Alexis sent me a follow-up email! She wanted to see how things have "settled and re-integrated" after treatment. That extra level of customer service is one of the reasons I would return to Alexis on a singular or regular basis. More importantly though, I believe that Alexis offered quality treatment at a reasonable price and the relief I experienced since my visit is measurable.

On top of that, a previous PT session with another person (not Matt) had been a little too rough -- something we didn't realize at the time -- and it made everything worse. The pain spread down my spine and into my ribcage until I couldn't sleep, couldn't move without crying, and couldn't even take a full breath. I was at the point of desperation. From the very beginning, Matt showed extraordinary care. He offered to extend my appointment by an additional half hour, even though he could have easily taken a lunch break. That simple gesture told me everything about his dedication to helping his patients. He didn't just place needles and walk away -- he began with skilled acupressure, using his hands to release and reset tension before transitioning into acupuncture. His approach was thorough, thoughtful, and clearly based on deep knowledge of the body. What impressed me even more was how detailed and holistic he was in his intake. He took careful notes, asked questions that went beyond surface-level pain, and even checked in about possible emotional factors. That meant a lot to me, because in my own work I know how often emotional pain manifests physically. To have a practitioner who not only recognizes that but makes space for it was truly refreshing and healing in itself. And then -- the results. By the end of the session, I could breathe again. For the first time in days, I felt my ribcage expand without pain. He also taped me with strong KT tape to support my healing in the days that followed, and each day I continued to improve. The shift was immediate, but it also lasted, which says everything about the effectiveness of his skill. Matt is not only kind and compassionate, but he has the kind of presence and bedside manner you'd hope for in the very best doctors. He's incredibly well-educated and generous with his knowledge, happily answering every question I had about his work and his field. You can feel his passion for this medicine in every word and every touch. I cannot recommend Matt highly enough. If you are in pain -- whether physical, emotional, or both -- give yourself the gift of working with him. He is deeply talented at what he does, and I sincerely hope he continues this work forever.

I'm a clinical nutritionist so I was taking vitamins and homeopathic's and all of the things I knew how to do to support my inner ear and my blood pressure and all of that. Only after going to see Bret did I experience any relief. For three hours the first time, and after my second treatment it went away completely within a couple days. It was weird, but the way I knew it was working was he stuck needles in my jaw and my fore head and several other places, and 10 minutes after he walked out of the room to let the needles do their thing I could feel my ears popping, but it was a different kind of popping. I felt clarity in my head, my headache that I'd had for a week went away. I felt, or really heard, a kind of crackling, like things were moving inside my inner ear. My family has been seeing Achtermann Chiropractic for a few years now. Dr. Karen has been…read moresuccessful in treating my husband's back injury without stringing him along with unnecessary ongoing treatments that Chiro's tend to get a bad reputation for. For myself, I had fallen while mountain biking and had upper back/shoulder pain about two years ago. Dr. Karen was able to adjust me in one visit and I was pain free. For this part of the review, 5 stars! (I don't think google reviews allow actual prices, therefore I did not include in my review). Recently, I scheduled an acupuncture visit which is advertised for a certain price on their website. No where on the website delineates extra fees or gave me an indication that I needed to inquire about extra fees. When I went in for my visit, I was early and waited patiently as Dr. Karen was running behind. Once the visit was completed, I went to pay the advertised price on the website and was surprised that the cost was actually 27% higher than advertised. When I asked the front desk about the advertised price versus the price I was asked to pay, I was told I was being charged for a "problem area" - which did not make a lot of sense to me because why other would one have acupuncture other than a problem? Therefore, I asked for Dr. Karen to call me when she had time. I also sent an email to Dr. Karen expressing my concern and requested a refund for the over charge. Later that afternoon, I received a text from the front desk, not a call from Dr. Karen, and changed the reason for the charge from it being a problem area to a "re-examination fee" because I had not been seen in their office in the last year. I responded to the front desk and requested to speak Dr. Karen. I also emailed Dr. Karen (once more since the description of the charge had now changed). Dr. Karen emailed me back and explained that the questions she asked me at the beginning of the acupuncture session were the reason "re-examination" and therefore I incurred the 27% upcharge (fee). She explained that if I have not been seen in the last six months, any patient would receive this fee. She acknowledged this type of fee is not mentioned on their website and that I should of asked her prior to my appointment for the cost. I have not been able to find these types of fees mentioned on the website or promotional emails that are sent out for services. Further, I am disappointed that as a patient I am being charged for being asked medically necessary questions for a treatment. These types of questions I was asked at my appointment would of needed to be asked whether I saw Dr. Karen consistently once a month, or six years ago. As a customer, I believe it is a reasonable expectation for costs/fees of services be advertised in such a way on a business website or promotional email that the customer knows what is expected of them to pay. If the business is not able to advertise such costs/fees, I think it is reasonable for the customer to expect to be notified of additional costs/fees not otherwise mentioned prior to their service. For this part of the review, 2 stars
