$5 each.
Thomas S.

Mrs and I needed to replace our water bottles and didn't see the need for the expensive stuff. $5 for a decent looking and acceptable quality bottle worked for us. The store itself was clean and organized. The check out clerk was friendly. We probably will return to buy random inexpensive stuffs.

I think the owner caught a catchy name, Alibaba Liquidation. No kidding. They sell imports from…read moreChina I'm huge quantities. They don't have display cases, but huge boxes of merchandise as seen on Amazon (not TV). I don't think it's related to the internationally known e-commerce website. Alibaba is also the main character from the famous Arabian folk tale. Any ways, as I was saying, don't think all products from China look cheap. They're seriously made for high end consumers. Like cell phone accessories brand LeYi. I never knew this brand until I bought a cell phone case from Amazon. They got unique design and functionality. Yesterday July 31 was their first day. I arrived around 3 pm. They were busy unloading and setting up the shop. There were few customers. Employees greeted everyone as we came in. Prices are still handwritten on the crates. I saw $1, $2, $3, $4, $5... But I saw nice stuff in the crates. Oh, they take cash and credit cards. I wasn't planning to stay long because I could overspend for trinkets. Some items can become customized gifts for businesses. I'll be back when we can safely meet in person. Because I will buy a bunch of stuff for my meetup giveaways. **Updated after my second visit and chatted with co-owner Jason** They have plan to expend this operation to 10 stores in Houston. I think it's a great concept. I wish them luck and I will be back every month to see new products.

The problem came when it was time to check out. The guy on the first register from the checkout line to the left around 1:45pm on December 24, 2024 is the reason I am leaving this review. My mom and I were next in line to checkout and the other registers were occupied by other customers alsobchecking out. When the young cashier guy finished ringing up his customer instead of checking us out next, he walks off and pretends to busy himself with something which was very obvious he didn't want to ring up anyone BUT when the next register opened up and my mom and I walked to the next cashier he immediately went back to his register to take the next customer behind us. At that moment it was extremely clear he didn't not want to ring us up for whatever reason but that was extremely rude! I don't want to say race was a part of it but I can't think of any other reason he choose to intentionally not ring us up when we had the same amount of items the customer he helped before and after us had. This really messed up our first time experience at Ollies. The cashier lady to the right side we ended up going to was very nice and signed my mom up for the Ollies Army rewards. After we left I called and spoke to the manager, I think his name is Mike or Michael. I explained what just took place and he was very nice and said he will run the cameras back and also notify upper management. We appreciate him for hearing our concern and not dismissing us. Hopefully the cashier takes a customer service course or finds a new job where he free to be rude else where. This was very upsetting to be treated the way we were and it being obvious in plain sight. Hopefully a real consequence for the young boy comes out of it.

Everything else requires price conversion. There are items that you may find have a better value at the Dollar Tree. It's pretty organized, but the stock may be unpredictable. I use to get the charcoal dehumidifiers but they no longer stock it. I really like their laundry bags and kitchen bowls, plates, and saucers, which they still carry. The laundry bags do vary in quality, they use to manufacture them at a better quality. I also love their silicone molds for baking ranging from Minnie Mouse, Pooh, etc. They are opened for decent hours. I do not like their self check out because it's very sensitive. You can easily and accidentally scan an item twice. The service is great, the associates always greet you upon arrival and they're pretty knowledgeable about their stock. They also have a cute little Daiso jingle, it's hilarious!

If you have time, you can go up and down the aisles just to see what they offer. It can be a pretty fun experience. These days, I mainly go to see the cute things they have. They have a lot of cute Sanrio and Disney designs on small things like paper decor, stickers, small gift bags or accessories. There is a sign usually on the shelves that tells you how much items cost in USD if they have a price listed on the item. The prices are in Japanese. Although relatively inexpensive items individually, it can all add up if you buy multiple things!

Or at least pay your employees better so they're not so annoyed all the time. And it's more exciting than Duller Tree, that's for sure. Barbi likes coming to Dollar Tree in Sugar Land because they usually have more stuff than the other locations, although this one hasn't really been as good as the others, and they seem to have earlier closing times and they seem to be less friendly and less well-stocked, and generally speaking when she comes here she doesn't find as much good stuff as she finds out at the other Sugar Land location, the one by Grand Parkway next to the LA Fitness in the HEB Plaza. She also loves the one on Hwy 6 a little bit towards Missouri City, located next to the 99 Ranch and Jusgo international grocery stores. This one on the other hand is the generic looking one at First Colony (across the hwy from the mall, close to Hwy 6). Plus we don't like this Plaza because it looks so generic and conservative, and from what I can tell, it really is. And so are the opening and closing times of this store. One of my songs says "our armies are planting the seeds of international Dollar Trees." It's true. These Dollar Stores are colonizing, essentially. But as long as money is tight and there are deals to be had, we'll keep coming here, I'm sure. Speaking of tight...
