The Deep (at their previous location) was my weekly comic shop when I lived in Huntsville 20 years…read moreago (groan). We were in town for a concert and to meet up with some friends and it happened to be "Free Comic Book Day" and we had time to kill, so we stopped at some local shops including the Deep at their new location. They had all the goodies for giveaways-- who can beat 3 free comics plus another 5 freebies if you make a purchase? The companies (Marvel, DC, and the indies) made a good show of rolling out freebies to give readers a sample of current offerings and hopefully they roped in some new readers. It was nice to see The Deep still has a swath of back issues, I was able to cross several titles off my never-ending search list as I poked around the store. They still have a wall of new releases, a ton of games and figures, etc. It was also very cool to see such a wide diversity of readership, people of all ages and backgrounds grabbing up new releases and picking up pull lists. Not sure if ownership has changed in the past decade or more or if it's more to do with the changing vibes of the subculture itself becoming more mainstream and accessible, but it just felt overall more "welcoming" and open than ever before so that anyone can find the book they're looking for and get into comics. Very cool. Plenty of parking. Appreciated the additional 20% off of purchases for the comic book day, and back issue prices are fair--more expensive than some, far cheaper than others.

I love this place, and always will. Been a customer for 20 years. As a tabletop gamer, they have…read moreevery that I need. D&D, board games, Warhammer, TCG's, etc. Their comic selection is outstanding. Just a generally great place to shop. They also have gaming to join, upstairs.

This is mine and my mom's go-to store when shopping for clothes and accessories for my two girls. I have a 10 mon-old and a 3 year-old. We've been buying from them since I was pregnant with my first daughter. I love the style clothes that they offer and fits how I like to dress my kids. Their store is huge. They have clothes in the front on one half of the store with furniture, bedding and room accessories on the other half. In the back they have a shoe room with accessories (i.e. socks, stockings, leggings, tights, bloomers, etc.) and an embroidering area. They also have a huge bow wall to pick from with tons of colors. They have stuff you can buy for parties as well. They even have the latest kid's food containers, food mats, pacifiers, sunglasses and more. When I say they have it all they have it all! I love this store because you can almost find anything you are looking for for your baby and/or toddler. They even have the latest snacks for breastfeeding moms. Yes, they sell boys clothing and accessories as well. Now.....I will say the owner who is always working is not the friendliest. She has a very stale/dry personality. You would think being in the business of selling products she'd be a little more welcoming but that's just her personality. She's one of those people that she is more "friendly" if she knows your going to buy something. However, she's still dry. When my mom and I first went in when I was pregnant with the first daughter, she was not welcoming at all until she realized my mom was going to buy baby furniture from her. She has since then been more welcoming to us when she sees us. Again, she just has a drier not so welcoming personality, period. It's just less dry if you buy something. Haha! Now her daughter who has been working the front and checking guest out lately when I've gone, is super sweet. I like the daughter, she is cool and talkative. The baby furniture is good quality and last. We initially bought the furniture for my oldest daughter. However, my oldest daughter didn't use the crib (she slept with us). We used the dressers for her clothes. My oldest daughter got new furniture and we now use my oldest daughter's old furniture for my youngest daughter. Overall, they probably have the best store in town for all things kids. Literally when I say all, I mean ALL! They are a well rounded store. I would just encourage to look past the owner's personality. If you can get past that, this will be your go-to store.

I told them I was looking for reusable nursing pads and a hakka and she cut me off before I finished and said I don't carry breast pumps because you get those free through insurance I said oh well it's not really a pump it's more like a milk collector before I finished she cut me off again and said I don't carry them I have nipple creams and stuff like that so you need to go to target. I asked if she had reusable nursing pads she cut me off again and said I needed to go to target for media stuff.

We visited yesterday on a rare day off and because I haven't been to HBH in decades. I thought I would come across something I didn't know I needed, which didn't happen. I liked their t-shirts, and stoneware/pottery. My sister likes the socks they carry. They also have locally written books in a tightly curated display. A small selection of locally made jewelry items, cutting boards, and other artwork. The staff were friendly and helpful, and, as others noted, there is no public restroom. They are not 100% volunteer staffed anymore, at least one person is on the payroll. The safe in the back is cool to see and they do have several displays of antique items on the floor as well as the area near the ceiling.

Originally built in 1879, this is the oldest hardware store in Huntsville! It ceased operations…read moredecades ago, but a non-profit took over to preserve and maintain the building. It's basically now a gift and craft shop selling souvenirs, local food/snacks, and local artisan crafts. The staff is super nice, and when we said it was our first time visiting they told us all about the history of the building. Most of the furnishings inside are original including the floors, shelving, cash register and an elevator shaft! This place was so cool and is definitely a must visit in downtown Huntsville! Just be aware they don't have any public restrooms. I had to walk around back to Constitution Park to find a restroom
