Big Lots - Big Lots in Chambersburg PA

Big Lots

I did not expect to do more than browse the shop but ended up buying a few things. There's a crazy…read morebig selection, almost Walmart-like with homewares, electronics, clothing, food, furniture and even small appliances. Everything looks great and decent quality and prices are very clearly marked and very low. Among other things, I greabbed a wired mouse ($5), two pretty matching red coffee mugs ($1.50 each) and a box of Cheez-Its (dammit, only $1). Seems like a decent enough shopping plaza, though it's not particularly well populated at night.

In the daytime, you should be OK, but Chambersburg Police do not recommend that you come to the Southgate area at night. With that being said, the store itself is in decent shape and pretty large (it used to be a JCPenney). The furniture selection is broad. This Big Lots also has a large seasonal selection. As for the actual merchandise, it isn't great. Big Lots used to purchase overstocks, excess inventory, etc. like Ollie's does, but their focus now is mainly in stuff branded specifically for Big Lots. You can still find brand name stuff in the electronics and food sections, but it's becoming more difficult to locate. I used to be impressed by their prices, but now the stuff simply isn't that inexpensive. They're trying to stock the store with more home decor merchandise, but I can find nicer stuff at Target for nearly the same price. There really isn't any reason to shop at Big Lots unless you have your heart set on a specific item.
